There's nothing wrong with teenagers that reasoning with them won't aggravate.

Suzy, I like your topp.
Cyn, I laughed at the rum ball story. It sounds like something I would do. If you still have the recipe, I love rum balls.

Anecdote: Alie didn't go to school yesterday because she has a headache so bad she couldn't lift her head off the pillow - I think it was a sinus headache. One of her friends told her that people came up to her all day telling her how good they were when they sang. I said it was a shame she was home sick and missed it. She said 'naaa, it's okay, they were doing that on Monday after assembly. I had to talk to people I had never met for 10 minutes'.. One kid was complaining to her on fb chat last night that it was very annoying how everyone within 100m of her had to come up and talk to her.

Another anecdote: I was talking to my mother about Alie and I said 'it's just as well her music stuff is going well because if she's doing as badly in her other subjects as she claims then she's going to need it'. After I said that Alie came home telling me about a great mark in an English assessment and that her math exam hadn't been as bad as she thought.. everything crossed!

IH is on a roll. I asked IH earlier today if he was going to be home for supper. He responded that he'd be here all evening. At 6:50 he came up to me and frantically told me that he had a meeting in town at 7:30 and had to eat beforehand. Of course I hadn't started cooking yet. So as fast as I could, I made burgers, tortillas, black beans and rice. I called to him that supper was ready and on the table at 7:08. I called him and called him. He was on the phone chatting away. I could have strangled him after that superhuman effort.

This is what the 2 new birds will look like. They have bright red bills instead of the natural color of the Peach Faced lovebirds.

Did you want me to catch you a pair? How about some King Parrots while we're at it?

Gail, that would be a cheap way to get the birds but I would hate to see the shipping costs.

Tami.... It is illegal to export birds from Australia. That would be the most expensive way possible to get some. The fines would be tremendous, and I wouldn't get any birds.

I'm starting to look for some Western Rosellas. So far I've only found some in California. It would cost me $800 for a pair. I'm looking elsewhere.

I just realized that I called them Scarlet Rosellas. I'm mixing them up with the Scarlet Chested Parakeets I just got. The Rosellas are CRIMSON Rosellas.

Heidi - my favourites of all of those birds are the Gouldian Finches. I still call in at the local pet shop just to admire them. They have a lovely range of Aussie birds - those that you can buy as pets.
Tami - I seldom make rum balls these days but Karin still does and manages to keep sober. I'll try to remember to ask for the recipe, wouldn't know where to find mine.
MizT - how organised you were with the recording for D2. I was never that organised but had good neighbours on both sides who knew my kids were alone for an hour or so in the afternoon. They watched for them to get home and were available if needed - never happened.

MizT - good luck with your procedure tomorrow.
Theresa - I think of you every day and hope you are coping and for an improvement in your D's health that will give you some well-earned rest. I just know how hard it would be for me in the same situation.

Off to bed early tonight. I must get up at 6 am so I can eat breakfast. Then fasting till after the procedure. NO WAY I am going from now till late afternoon without eating. I did ask, they said 7 hours fasting, so no more coffee after 7:15 am. I hope to go back to bed after breakfast and sleep through some of those 7 hours

We are forecast frost tonight. Such changeable weather. Today I was wearing sweat pants and a thermal long sleeve top, while taking short sleeved tops and shorts from the dryer. Happens like that in the spring. My closet gets very crowded, trying to keep some clothes for both hot and cold weather. Glad I did not get any flowers yet, I would be trying to get them under cover for tonight. Hope my sister covers hers tonight, she just bought plants last weekend.

Afternoon all. Sorry have not been around much. Life just sometimes get a bit hectic.
Family friend C from Scotland arrived Monday evening for 3 weeks holiday, she is staying at MIL's. We had dinner at MIL's last night.
The family, along with C, are coming here for Late lunch/Early Dinner on Sunday.
I have my friend, along with her children, flying in to Perth for a week from Sydney today, staying at her Dad's, they are coming to dinner here on Friday.
Mum has her 3 month followup checkup of her eyes (after the Cataract Surgery).
Having a quiet day today, just pottering about, catching up on 'stuff'..

Cyn, my grandfather used to breed finches and I never appreciated them as much as they deserved..

MizT, my wish for you for tomorrow is that they are running on time so you go no more than 7 hours without eating!

Rolanda, have fun at your 'reunions' and I hope it rains!!

Rolanda - that sounds like a busy schedule coming up for you! Pleased that the temps are lowering. Ours have been much lower in the last few weeks, with a bit of rain and about 16C overnight last night. I had to find another blankie in the middle of the night!
Just went for a trawl around Aldi. I wanted to pick up 1 thing ($2.99) from this week's catalogue, spent $30!

Good very early morning, Everyone!

Yoikes! A couple of crazy days. Meeting Monday night started at 7 and ended about 10:30, so home about 11:30. Secretary was not in attendance, so president asked me to take notes - 4.5 written pages. After a dentist appointment today, then looking for shoes for D's wedding, I came home & spent the rest of the day typing up the meeting notes - 7.5 pages. I have now emailed them to the president for approval. YUCK! I hope I don't get secretary as my next job. Membership chairman is quite busy enough, as far as I'm concerned.

No time to read comments, so I'll have several pages to read when I get back.

Positive thoughts and vibes and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and to all! Take care!

Julie, relax from these other commitments and enjoy your daughter's wedding.
Rolanda, enjoy all your visitors. Hope all OK with your mum's checkup.
Heidi, I'll willingly send you lots of white cockatoos. I am getting ready to wring a few necks when you see the mess in my backyard.
I do sometimes get the crimson Rosella's and king parrots and they can often be quite tame from being fed. Suzy , to keep the native birds I think you have to be able to show that you obtained them from a licensed breeder.

Hope all goes well tomorrow MizT. I am not sure if drinking coffee is good when you have to go without fluids for 7 hours (can cause you to dehydrate)
I took my very kind neighbour out to high tea today. She has a lot on her plate at the moment and I wanted to do something to help her relax. I enjoyed the outing as well!!
I am also studying for my umpires re-accreditation exam on Friday so have not been at the computer as much!

Hi Gail, hope everything is going well with you and your family. All those vegies sound nice. we will be in Melbourne for Easter but we will not have a car so will only be travelling where the family take us.
Suzy, I find about 9.30pm is a good time for action at the eagle site as it is about then that Mum gets Dad to relieve her from the night shift. (For when you get some more computer time allowance)

Good luck today MizT, hope the procedure goes to plan and you get relief from your back pain.
Heidi all those birds must look wonderful together, though I can see you having to extend your sun room to accommodate all the birds you want to buy.
Rolanda hope all your visitors enjoy themselves, the drop in the temp will be wonderful for your Scottish friend as it will be an improvement on what we are having over here at the moment. Edinburgh and Glasgow are having Rain and temp is only 13/14c so 22c will be wonderful.
I've forgotten what ever else I was going to say.
Good luck for anyone needing luck and ((HUGS)) for everyone.
