The plumber wasn't able to get here this afternoon. He promised to be here at 10 am, and he shows up on time when he specifies one.
The shocking part is that I convinced IH to pay for it!!! Since we're looking at rain for 5 out of the next 6 days, he got scared about having to bail out the basement without my help.

Gekko and Good Evening!

I'm exhausted tonight so don't know how long I will last. Finally got to sleep around 4:30 a.m. this morning. (Was 4:27 the last time I looked at the clock.) We had a discussion with doctor who treats my sleep apnea last week. If you've been lying awake for about 20 minutes and don't feel sleep, get up and do something until you feel tired. Though I felt tired, I couldn't get to sleep, so got up several times. I expect to sleep tonight!

Suzy, don't you just love it when kids are so laid back about things they need to do, like maybe practice the songs for Sunday? At least she realized before Sunday morning!

Rolanda, what a relief that your watch and rings were found, especially with your upcoming weekend! How is your arm today? I hope the pain is gone and the burn heals quickly!

Hi, Brenda! Well, that's a couple more of us needing haircuts - you and MIzT are now added to the list. Wouldn't it be great if we could find the "perfect" length and freeze the growth at that point - or at least slow it down when it reaches perfect? I'm so glad your special watch wasn't lost, just put in a safe place by Richard!

Tami, I hope Mitchell's final test went well today! Not the best day for his bus to be running late!

June, what a relief (I think) that your oldest grandie has the flu, and not suffering from a mild increase in her meds for a few days. She must have been really miserable for her parents to take her to the ER. I hope you got some "catch-up" sleep today! I also hope your grandie is feeling much better!

Suzy, you have a very deep thinker in Alie! What a pleasure to see one of the younger generation who really "gets it!" I'm sure you're proud of her!

Brenda, have a wonderful time and hopefully excellent weather so that you can really enjoy the beauty of the area!

Heidi, I am SO pleased for you that your horrible/wonderful epidural worked so well! How wonderful to awake with no pain! Hope you had a wonderful day! Seems like IH has been saved by Robert seeing the plumber and telling him about the sump pump. That plumber is a good business person to follow up on the information!

Gail, I hope your birthday has been a wonderful one! Happy BIrthday!

MizT, it sounds like Al is doing better day by day! Wow, he even cut/trimmed your hair for you! I'm glad he has had some luck with ice cream, milk shake and hopefully oatmeal! I'm so pleased for both of you!

June, good for you for passing the umpire test! We knew you could do it!

Have a wonderful weekend, Rolanda!

I'm too tired to last any longer. I'm off to bed. {{{{HUGS}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers and for everyone! Good Night!

Gekko my friends, sorry I have not been posting much of late but by the time I read all your comments my mind just goes blank. I have been sleeping 9 or 10 hours a night (which is most unusual for me) so think I have been fighting off some sort of bug. Have even missed watching the eagles so I know something has not been right. Feeling better so nothing to worry about.
Sleep well Julie and Heidi.

Hi everyone!

Gail.

I just got on the computer to check out the names of Mary and Fred's twins - Josephine and Vincent.

I've dropped hubby off for his drinkies with the boys and I'm about to go out soon.

We had to take Reggie back to the vet. His skin is really bad again so he's had a cortisone injection and will have anti-biotics for the next 10 days. We are also trying a new dog food and hope that this will help.

Have a good weekend all!

I have had a lovely day out. Got the bus driver to drop me off at the end of our street. Ken is not home so I hope he is not waiting for me at the bowling club where other people left their cars.

My sister and I went into the city today to have lunch with a cousin who lives north of Brisbane. I was gone from home for 7 hours, even though we were actually in the city for 2 1/2 of them. Most of the rest of the time was taken up driving to the nearest railway station, parking the car about 10 mins walk away (no parks closer), stopping at all stations - over 1 hour's journey and the same in reverse. Then a 15 minute walk to and from the station in the city! I am exhausted and never going in there again! Parking in the city is about $60 minimum so that wasn't an option. Not happy, Jan!

And the trains and the CBD were full of schoolkids on holiday, shifty characters and tourists - I know we need them but not when they stop in the middle of the bridge to take photos.
Yes, I know I'm a grumpy old woman -

Vicki.... Good luck with Reggie. From my experience, it sounds like you're doing all the right things. It sounds like food allergies to me. I have one right now with the same problem, and "natural" dog foods, or lamb based dog foods help.

Late last night, I finally convinced IH to bring in a bag of dog food from my truck so the dogs could be fed. While outside, he noticed that "the flashy thing" ( a gizmo that I hang on the hot fence, which flashes only if the hot fence has lost power) was flashing, so he came in and told me that there was no power to the barn with the fence charger. Went down to the basement and discovered that the circuit breaker to the barn had tripped. Reset it, and it tripped again 15 seconds later. Reset it again, and it did the same thing. So I had IH run extension cords from the garage to the fence charger so that the fence was hot again. This morning, I talked to my plumber friend and asked him if he could bring a replacement breaker when he comes, saving me a trip. He said he will.
Now I need to get dressed and feed hay to the cows. I'm now allowed to drive the tractor. My Pain Management doc has a time schedule as to how soon after an epidural I can do various things.

If that's not to your liking, come back for Toy Elephant's birthday cake tomorrow. Her's is an Ice Cream Tutti Frutti Choc Ripple Layer Cake

Thanks for all the greetings, I have had a wonderful day, and have been spoiled rotten by my adorable family (amazing how much I love them today!).

Heidi, your forecast sounds like ours. With the exception that it's awfully cool here, -3C with the wind chill right now. While waiting for the school bus this morning I was wishing I had my winter jacket on.

SonIL won't be home until after midnight, so a long day for me. Tomorrow we go to in-laws for their anniversary celebration. I still have to get the groceries for that. Hubby is working at his second job after his real job, so he won't be home until after 11:00 PM.

Gail, where do I go after I turn right at Albequerque? I want some of that cake.

My day just went from busy to busier. D got a call from the school that oldest grandie was sick again, so D took a taxi and picked her up. But she spoke to the teacher while she was there. There was something bothering grandie that was making her sick.

Apparently the oldest grandie does not like to read out loud in front of the class. She is an excellent reader (she reads well above her grade level), but her teacher will not ask her to read out loud again. She is very shy at times. I never would have guessed what was bothering her.

D said there was more to the story than this, but the grandie walked into the room at that time, so she will have to tell me another time.

Just finished making their lunch and now it's my turn.

Checking in after a wild stormy day today. There were so far 18 confirmed tornadoes on the ground this afternoon in Alabama. Poor weather forecasters at times had 2, 3 and 4 tornadoes at a time to keep us informed about. We spent the afternoon in the dome and were glad to be there, some of those came a bit close to our location. Lots of trees down, power lines down, signs and some businesses and homes damaged, flash flooding in the state, but no reports of injury or deaths in Alabama. NOT so in Arkansas last night and today, this was a huge tornado outbreak. There are 9 reported deaths in Arkansas As the sun is going down the storms are weakening, thankfully. I am back inside, had enough of storms and dome sitting.

Couple of scarry things, with huge crowds gathering for events scheduled for weekend. Tomorrow is the A Day game at University of Alabama. this is a spring training football event, where the team is split and plays itself, always a big draw, and lots of people there in RV's and campers today before the game tomorrow. At least the city found places for those people to shelter in case of a tornado, at local malls and businesses. Game is tomorrow, but many many there overnight camping out in parking lot. There was a tornado on the ground not far from there, but no damage to the campers, and they were asked to evacuate to the businesses.

the other was campers, caravans, and RV's near the Talladega Speedway for an auto race tomorrow. Those people were told, there are no provisions for shelter, in event of severe weather you are on your own. Again, a tornado close by, but not in the RV park or the Speedway complex. We are talking 10's of thousands of people there, and no provision for their safety?

Al spent the afternoon working on a computer, first he has done that in weeks. It is a good sign. He is also taking many sips a day of water, glad to see that also.

I am off to my recliner, I feel like I been hit by a truck. Storms do that to me, major achies. Tomorrow should be lots better. Till then, huge hugs to each of you.

A big Happy Birthday to Gail's Toy Elephant. I'm on my way south for Tiramisu leftovers - the other cake sounds waaaayy too rich for me.
Congrats, Nola on your excellent results!! A good friend of mine went through this a few years ago and she was so convinced that medication exam would stump her. No, same as you, she was one of the few who got through first time. Good luck with the next assignment.

Theresa, I was just rereading some posts as I tend to miss things and noticed your comment about how shy your grandie is. Have you looked at the videos of Alie singing? Would it surprise you to know she was the same? Still is a little - does less well in subjects which require her to verbally participate in class..

Thanks for sending those storms up here, MizT. It's coming down in buckets, along with loads of lightning.
We got one water problem fixed today, and now have an even bigger problem. IH was sitting watching TV (I was taking a nap) and heard water splashing, where there should be no water splashing. He investigated (!!!!) and saw water streaming out of the spot where the well pipe comes through the basement wall. He got me up to check it. The pipe that brings water into the house has cracked. IN the house. I unplugged the well but will have to wait for the pipe to empty before I can do a jerry-rig patch job. So IH is now cleaning up those gallons of water as they empty the pipe all over the floor (can't get a bucket under it since it's streaming down the wall), then once the flow has stopped, I'll do what I can until I can get the plumber back.

Heidi, since I last posted, we have had buckets and more buckets of rain here. Rain coming down so loud could not hear the TV even. I feel sure our road is under water again from flash floods, just thankful I do not have to go out tonight. At last the rain seems to have stopped, I am glad of that.

Heidi, your basement just seems to want to be under water. Sorry to hear about the cracked pipe, hope you can get that repaired soon. Do you have flood insurance? I do think you might need it! Broken pipe would not be flood though, would it? I remember Al once had a repair job on a rental house/ Renters moved out, water was already turned off, they disconected washer and did not think to turn off the tap. Sometime later, the water co made a mistake and turned the water on at the meter. Noone knew till about 3 days later when water was running though yard of a house about a block away, and traced it back to the house. All the flooring had to be replaced, all the doors and the sheet rock up about 16 inches had to be cut away and replaced. Big job.
