Hi Julie, yes the weekend has been good and Bella loves having me at home. I am happy not to be working for someone else for a while and I need to anti-foul the boat so this looks like a good time.
Looks like they will not be having the funeral for Pete's mum until next Friday which is also his birthday, some people just do not have a clue!

Broni, just doesn't seem possible that people can be so clueless! Hopefully, Pete can find something positive - that his Mum is in a better place - and celebrated on a day that would have been very special for her. Sending positive thoughts for him and for you!

Same old stuff, Suzy. Have been down in the dumps for the last while - don't know why. You know what they say, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything. I'm sure I'll be better once we get some nice weather for at least a few days in a row. I think I am sun-starved and suffering from a case of cabin fever.

Sending best wishes and healing thoughts to Lizzie, hope the graft takes quickly and well and the infection is now a thing of the past. Huge Hugs to her.

What curfew did I inflict on my children? Ten o'clock seemed reasonable to me, unless there was a reasn other wise. If the movie they were seeing did not get out till 10, then time to get a burger and cola and drive safely home. Same for a football game or other sporting event. As they got older, it moved till 11 and then midnight. Dating on school nights was out, too, but he could come over to study together and I sent him home early. My father was a firm believer that children needed more sleep, we got it, and each of us did very well with grades in school. I do think sleep deprivation is a real issue now, for children and adults.

Well, did not get my plate of lunch brought to me, I just did not ask why. Probably no one thought of it at the time. Joy and I ate together mid afternoon. Sent some leftovers home with her for a couple meals this week. Since she could not remember what she ate this past week, I shall be texting her this week, a " what's for dinner?" query every night. Make her think a bit more about what she is eating.

Heidi, any breaks in the rain? Overcast here again, if we do not get sun soon, I am going to wilt, already droopy.

Theresa, if we get sunshine, I will share with you.

Broni, I understand what a parent's death or funeral on or near a birthday can do. I feel my birthday was taken from me, Mom died the day after mine. None of extended family acknowledged my birthday for several years, to do so was to remember to vividly what happened just one day later.

It seems to happen like that doesn't it? Mum's funeral was the day after our anniversary, and Scott's mother's funeral was held the day after his birthday, although it was touch and go for his birthday for a while!

Gekko all!
I had a very late night on the Barn Owl site. It was amazing! The babies left the nest for good the previous night, so I just popped in to say hi to everybody. The dad returned to the nest box to clean it out for the next brood, so that was fun to watch. Once he got it ready, he called for his mate. That's when it got exciting. Instead of his mate, Bonnie, showing up, a strange female came instead. And WAS she strange! She was a very rare black Barn Owl! ((They estimate that one out of 100,000 Barn Owls is born black, and of those, the vast majority are killed instantly by the parents. The few known black adults are mostly rescued from the boxes and hand reared. This was a completely unknown one!)) We ended up getting an hour and a half show of her trying to bond with Clyde while he tried to drive her out of the box, kicking, clawing and biting!!! He got her out three times, and she returned twice. The final time she left, Bonnie was outside the box and took off after her. I wish the camera could have followed them, because I waited a couple of hours and Bonnie didn't reappear.... but neither did the black owl.

Hello and Gekko, Everyone! I hate to shock all of you, as I'm here in the afternoon. I have a few minutes now, and a meeting and another commitment this evening, so I thought I'd stop by.

I still am shocked at the scheduling of the funeral for Pete's Mum on his birthday. Could it be that everyone else has forgotten it's his birthday? I hope it isn't that no one cares! Will be thinking warm thoughts on Friday. Maybe he should celebrate the day before - or the day after - from now on?

Theresa, I hope the day is going well for you! Has the sun found a break in the clouds to peek through? {{{HUGS}}} and positive thoughts!

I'm hoping the sun also finds Heidi and MizT, if only for a little while!

Gail, I'm so glad you could visit Lizzy! I hope the graft takes well and quickly and those three days confined to bed fly by! Does she have access to a TV and funny movies? Sending positive healing thoughts for LIzzy!

MizT, what a shame that you didn't get a plate of Easter dinner! How could they forget? At least you and Joy shared a meal! What a good idea - to text her each day so she thinks about what she's eating for dinner. If she is busy or distracted, she might not be eating well. {{{HUGS}}} to you and to Al!

Heidi, what an opportunity you had watching the owl cam! Please keep us posted. (Or do they shut it down now that the owlets are gone?) Would Bonnie and the black barn owl have had a fight? Will one or both return? It's beginning to sound like a soap opera.

AARGGGGH! Heidi, what can you do about IH paying bills? Can you/he arrange to have them be paid by automatic withdrawal from the bank - or pay on-line & you just notify when the payment should be made? He must enjoy living dangerously.

IH put the utility bills in his name only, so they won't deal with me. I don't know why he does these things other than being an idiot.

Morning all,
Heidi, I bet they don't mind dealing with you when you are handing over cash!

Julie, hope you get a relatively early night tonight.

MizT, I agree about sleep. I was usually asleep by 11 when I was in school and it really made a difference. And that would have been even more sleep than you would have had as school didn't start until 9 and I lived 3 minutes walk from my school. I did go out one night a week on school nights - ballroom dancing lessons - but they finished at 10.

Gail, I hope Lizzie is not feeling too bored or bad...

Heidi, with I had unlimited internet allowance so I could have watched that! I feel bad for the black owl who may never be able to find a mate.

Gekko again! I'm back before midnight, so just a comment or two and then to bed.

Heidi, it makes no sense that IH put the utility bills in his name but doesn't pay them. Doesn't he realize that affects his credit rating? Do the people at the utility companies not realize that if they want to get paid on time, they ought to deal with you? It's mind boggling! {{{HUGS}}} We understand things are mighty difficult for you and not made easier by IH.

Broni, more positive thoughts for Pete as Friday approaches!

Theresa, I hope the day has been relatively uneventful! Thinking positive thoughts for you, your D and your grandies! I hope working the extra job is not too exhausting for your hubby!

Tami and Broni, now Girls, that poking and prodding has to stop! Go sit in opposite corners.

Gail, cute youtube of the penquin!

To answer your question, Broni, I'm doing fine. Busy is good. One of my goals this month has been to find undergarments and shapewear that will work with the dress I bought for my D's summer wedding. Another challenge has been shoes, as I wear orthotics and have hammertoes. Since the dress is floor length, I mentioned the possibility of wearing athletic shoes/trainers (jokingly, though they'd be far more comfortable for a long day & night). D made sure that both hubby and I know we are NOT to wear athletic shoes. Some purchases have been made, and I am wearing the sandals around the house to see if I can deal with them for more than an hour or two. Then we'll need to schedule the fittings. Even though it's a couple months away and I'm trying to lose weight, I have to do fittings right away or won't be able to return items that won't work with the dress, so I'm feeling a bit frustrated, but nothing to worry about.

Midnight is nearly here, so I need to get moving. Positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{HUGS}}}} and for all! Good Night from here.

Goodnight Julie, hope you sleep well and thank you for letting us know how you are. The sandals Julie, are they ortho?
Pete has asked me to thank you all for your kind condolences and asked me to let you know he is doing fine, just bored waiting. That reminds me I must find that poem about the "dash" for him.
Funny note, he said to me today he cannot get on to Sudoku on his mum's computer....he had it on favourite on his computer. I didn't laugh out loud but told him the web address. PML now!

I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash, what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard; are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left hat can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real and always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile, remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read with your life’s actions to rehash would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash?
