I. Am. Mad.
I ordered that bird cage 2 months ago and got a run around from the seller with all sorts of excuses why it wasn't being delivered. It finally arrived yesterday, in a flat box. I unpacked the pieces today and started to put it together, only to discover that I was sent the wrong sized cage. This one is considerably smaller than the one I paid for. It's the same size as my other cages. Right now, I wish he lived nearby so I could shoot him.

Hello, Sudokuaholic Friends!

I see quite a few posts since I signed off last night. Hi, Mizt, Heidi, June, V Viv, Theresa, and Brenda,

MizT, I'm so glad you got those 5 minutes of pain-free. It will help you remember your goal. Just wish it could have been 5 hours, instead of 5 minutes! I also hope you are able to determine what is causing tummy upsets. If it's just a 'bug' it should be gone soon, I hope! You did well with your meat shopping. Just don't over-do in getting it cut and wrapped in smaller packages and cooking some.

Heidi, I'm also anxious to see the new flight cage - and how all of the cages fit in the sunroom. It must be such a cheerful place! I hope all of the birds make a good transition to their new 'homes.' I also hope calving continues to go well and you are able to get some rest AND the an epidural that beats all epidurals!

V Viv, I hope you were able to get your (large) Avon order entered. Happy Birthday to the 'Old Boy!'

June, congratulations on your win at bowls. I hope the pennant season goes well! Will be thinking of you when you attend your neighbor's funeral. Enjoy your weekend with Laura! Hopefully you will be able to get a replacement for your new computer!

Theresa, I hope you soon feel better - and hope your hubby doesn't get too worn out from all of the driving to see his parents, especially with all of the snow you're getting! Thinking of you and sending {{HUGS}} your way!

Brenda, Happy Birthday to your son! I hope he has a great day! What a great idea to just take you out for dinner to celebrate!

I'm too tired to go on, so will save page 607 for tomorrow. Feel free to share these {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers, healing vibes, ! Good Night, Everyone!

Now I'm going to check Theresa's link and look on Heidi't page to see the picture.

I think I have finished reading...it is a bit of a blur... I think I have too much on my mind at the moment. Too much happening.

Before I get side tracked.. Mama.. so sorry to read your post. Far too young.. makes me feel even more weepy than I am at the moment. Far too young. Love and comforting thoughts for all you family in this difficult time.

Yesterday was the 2 year anniversary of my brothers death and if there is anyone I would most like to have caught up with on that day it would have been Nola. She was a big comfort for me during that battle with MND having witnessed it first hand herself... Some of these nasty neurological diseases scare me when I feel like I did yesterday and I think of family history. I had to lie down for 'half an hour' after my last post and was unable to make it to the airport in time.

It will be good to meet Nola when I am feeling less exhausted and emotional.. I suppose we could have had a good weep on each others shoulders before our good humour asserted itself again.

I'm going with my sister to see her neurologist next week. Two pairs of ears are always better than one when it comes to taking in a lot of information.. particularly stuff that isn't always pleasant. Might see if I can slip in a question about genetics.

Mizt isn't it extraordinary when you wake up and find out that you aren't in pain! Let us hope that you have more occasions like that.. Fingers crossed.. I was the exact opposite this morning but feel ok now..

Have been a guinea pig for a friend with a course he has been doing [which has left me on the receiving end of some wonderful massages].. he rang last night to say he had one more to do and write up and submit before midnight.. it was a tad overdue.. felt very de-stressed until I got home to the mess here.. still haven't unpacked my suitcase! Not to worry.. will catch up.

Next trip in with my neighbour is on Monday and that is much later in the morning. That should work better. She wanted to have coffee on the way home yesterday but I had to decline..(at that stage I still thought I was going to be able to catch up with Nola) it will be good to be able to be more leisurely.

It did come up with a win-win scheme after talking to a lot of the patients there. There is such a need in the community for somewhere for country folk to rest and recoup between treatments. The people I spoke to had ghastly tales of frightfully costly accommodation etc. One elderly couple had to walk from where they were staying because they couldn't get a taxi. I was horrified at their story.. they are reporting that taxi that said that the 'trip was too short' Figured that maybe I could set up a sort of hostel / B & B with hospital shuttle (Bean's taxi service)... didn't think about what it would have cost my best friend when I did this for her when she had pancreatic cancer if she'd had to book into hotels like these other people are doing. I wouldn't have to charge very much to cover my costs and supply enough income to fill the shortfall here with my cost of living.

Julie thank you for your wonderful newsy post.. makes it easier to get back in the loop.

2hrs between posts... wow..
Had a phone call, found some food.. not much else.. time goes very quickly..

I was lucky the post I had been writing when the phone rang didn't get lost.

June that isn't good about MIL. Enjoy Laura's visit.
Hello to Ken.

I hope you got your order in Viv.
Old boy probably thinks it is a small price to pay in the general scheme of things.. To each his own.. as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others then so be it.. I have a committed smoker living here and the smell seems to be infiltrating everything.. even when it is all done out of doors. Is it worth the rift it would cause between my son and I.. there is a little tension here at the moment and I run the risk of alienating him through his GF... tricky stuff... I feel ill equipped to deal with it. I've decided to bite my tongue for now and try to maintain the peace.. until after the next family wedding..

Hi all.
So sorry that I have missed you Bean. I arrived in Melb and kept looking out for you, tried to phone and found I hadn't put your ph no in book. Things happened so quick when I knew that the hwy would flood.I had intentions of packing and getting organized on my 1st day off and then we left at 10am in a huge rush. Raced to put the dog in the kennel. Wonder of wonders, they are closed on Tues. Took the dog to Renae, said a quick goodbye, and I have told you of our lovely
time in the evac centre.
Anyway.....arrived Hobart 4pm Thursday.Had dinner in a bar..walked around...saw Salamanca Markets and will go back Sat when they are open.
Fri (today) travelled south to Frankston, walked the Tahune Airwalk. It is in a forest with huge trees and is like walking in the tree canopy.Beautiful, windy, tree fern covered drive.
I have never seen so many huge tree ferns and they are growing wild everywhere. Huonville is named after the Huon pine tree. Logging there was a big conservation issue back in the 60's.
Some evidence of the bushfires but mostly fires were further east.
Tonight we are in Kingston. The weather has been beautiful today, warm like we are used to. Just cool for us at night at about 10c.Lovely change from wet, humid and hot weather.
We have met some lovely people, including a German cyclist touring Tassie and so many others.
Anyway, I will now read the posts quickly, and get back in a few days.
Hugs to you all.

Nola - glad you arrived in Tassie safely. I know that area very well, we stayed with friends at Kettering - you would have driven through there on your way to Tahune. Know Kingston too. Keep enjoying yourselves. Are you going across to Bruny Island - well worth it - and the vehicular ferry is so cheap compared to the ones that go across to Straddie from near here!
Heidi - bummer about the cage being the wrong size!
Beanie - enjoy you day of peace tomorrow. I saw vdV mentioned the Airshow on FB.
Love and hugs to all. I'm late here today.

Hello all,
Not up to staying around long, but did want to say hello. My niece is being cremated today and many folks have benefited from the organs that hopefully will add to their lives and bring them joy and freedom. It's a difficult day trying to understand this new world order that I now live in, but the Dove of Peace is on my shoulder.
Nola, What a harrowing
experience you have had trying to start your holiday, I do hope the rest and enjoyment more
than make up for the bad start.
Bean....Hugs and understanding that time doesn't always make things easier quickly but the ability to be able to jump and shout just because that's what you feel is needed is such a great release...Shout loud enough for both of us and I'll do the same on this side of the pond and perhaps...just perhaps, the noise will reach such a crescendo that all who hear it will be aware that the mama-bean shout has done its work in helping us to feel more grounded!
I had more I wanted to say, but my emotions are coming to the fore and clouding my ability...so I'm off to do more mindless task to help pass the time. Know that I care. Peace and Hugs aplenty.

Mama... your niece's body may be being cremated today, but part of her lives on in many grateful souls. And in the love that their families feel for their loved one's salvation. Her soul and memory are blessed. May she Rest In Peace. And may all of her loved ones find comfort in knowing how many lives she helped, directly and indirectly. Thanks to her sacrifice, others will not have to mourn their loved ones.

Another bull calf born last night. That's 16 little calves out there: 7 bulls and 9 heifers. I hope the weather improves soon, though. It's snowing out right now, but nothing is sticking. The ground, such as it is, is unfrozen, so the snow just adds to the mud. I'm REALLY sick of the mud. It reaches to the tops of my boots in places.

Julie, I took my time, and used my rolling secretary chair to sit and wrap the meat for repackaging. If I got tired, back to the fridge it went and I took a break. It is finished, only 2 days after I bought it hehehe. the cooking was easy, did that while I was in the kitchen repackaging. Made (and ate) the chicken salad, it was yummy. Had it for dinner and again next day for lunch. Today I need to find a recipe calling for a ham bone, in a soup pot I am thinking. What I would like is 15 bean soup, but enough to go out for the makings?

Heidi, I hope you can get the correct bird cage, the one you paid for. Had you ordered from this dealer before? You usually have good luck getting what you order. That company just does not know who they are dealing with hehehe, go get em girl.

JULIE, I am thinking this 'bug' should be over and gone soon, also, but it keeps coming back. I hope sister's doc today, and mine Monday can shed some light on what, why, when for us.

MAMA, huge gentle hugs to you. I think of you often during my day.

Heidi, how many more cows need to deliver?

CynB, it must be nice to visualize just where NOLA is, what she is seeing, on her trip.

NOLA, good of you to check in. I hope you are enjoying your trip, and all goes smoothly here on out.

BEAN, enjoyed your long and newsy post. What a great idea, providing a B and B with taxi for people undergoing chemo. Best of luck in bringing that about, a truly symbiotic arrangement. You get a boost to your income and provide what seems to be a much needed service.

JULIE, you did it again, a long newsy post, all about what others are doing. I do not think there was a word about what you are doing at the moment. How is the puppy? How long will it need you to sit? How long a trip by train is it daily when you do go? What do you find to do all day as you are away from your home and your things? Would be a good time to practice your cello, but would be a bit cumbersome to transport it by train every day.

OK< I am out of here, need to find something interesting to do today. I have a blouse that I need to work on, elastic too weak in this peasant style blouse, and the neck opening keeps getting larger as I wear it, till there is a HUGE wardrobe malfunction . I hope I can find a way to stabilize that, I really like the blouse.

Hugs to each of you, with extra where needed. till later.

It rained all day yesterday. The funeral was a burial, in the rain.
We had a BBQ at the bowling club last night. Laura had a great time but went to sleep in our bed and is still there. I think I have been pushed out!
Nola, lovely to hear from you.Hope you get to Bruny Island. Well worth the trip if the weather is good.
MizT, if I have a ham bone (and I do have several in the freezer waiting for cold weather) I just throw in any spare vegetables I find in the fridge.

I've been in contact with the guy who sold me the cage. He claims his shipper sent me the correct one, and I must have made a mistake. So I sent him the measurements of the one they shipped to me, proving it's the wrong one. This cage comes in 3 sizes, and I bought the largest one. I received the middle sized one. I haven't heard back from him since my last email to him.

I also got to the bank and got some paperwork done enabling me to sign checks for the Lions Club. And to make a bunch of deposits for them. I feel like I accomplished something.

Now to do a cow check in the sleet and freezing rain. I hate this weather. So do the cows and calves.

Mama My heart goes out to you and yours at this sad time. I do love the idea of organ donation and the fact that a small part of a loved one not only lives on but helps someone else have a more healthy or comfortable life.
June - Col's Mum was buried and it was raining and miserable. She had always wanted a white dove to be released to symbolise that she was free of all the constraints her bad health had put on her body. Because of the rain, the handler couldn't bring the dove, but just at the right time, when the music 'On the wings of a Dove' started - a pigeon that had been on the ground nearby, flapped its wings, took off and soared off into the distance. That woman had friends in high places!

CynB.... The birds they use for the white dove releases are actually white Homing Pigeons. They're trained to return to their handler's home so the same birds can be used over and over, and don't start reproducing in the wild. It's wonderful that a wild pigeon volunteered his services.

That's probably even better Heidi. A trained bird does what is expected of it. For a wild bird to do what it did at the right time was wonderful. Col and I looked at one another and said, 'She's here!'
Brought a smile to our faces at such a sad moment.

Besides that, it's cruel to release birds raised in captivity and expect them to be able to survive in the wild. That almost never ends well for the poor bird.

Everyone.
I slept in, and was awoken by a phone call. It was a State Patrolman looking for IH. He's been letting his goats roam loose every day, and they get on the road and have caused many a near-accident (there will eventually be an accident and a lawsuit) and they get in people's yards and cause a lot of destruction. The various people in the area, whose complaints he ignores, have finally gotten the law involved. I happily gave the officer IH's cell number, and let him know I was on his side. If IH continues to let the goats run loose, I suspect that there will be an arrest. I've lost count of the fights we've had over his goats running loose, and I keep telling him that if he doesn't keep them under control, he will get arrested or sued. Now the State Police are telling him. This made my day.

No new calves yet, and it's snowing again. Some is still sticking so we have a dusting for the first time this winter. Unfortunately, it isn't cold enough for the mud to freeze. The poor calves are having to wade through deep stuff up around the barn. The majority of the pasture is in good shape, but all high traffic areas are awful. In fact, it's probably worse than usual for this time of year since IH insisted on turning the cows into the calving pasture 2 weeks early. The weather had gotten nasty, and their best shelter is in that pasture. The funny part is that IH fought me over building that shelter, saying we didn't need it and it was an unnecessary expense. So he refused to contribute a single penny to help build it.

Gekko my friends from WET WET WET Queensland. Everything is soggy and damp.
Have been busy doing nothing, well it seems that way. Apart from working have been helping a friend out with his tax reporting, also had some battery issues with the new car, either the battery cells have collapsed(new looking battery) or has a power leakage somewhere, looks like a trip to the mechanic, lucky I still have the other car.
Funny story, Bella got soaking wet the other day then went under the house and was covered in mud, my darling cousin then kept her in the house for the afternoon without wiping her down needless to say the floors were black by the time I got home.
Go figure!

IH and Don just moved all the goats back here to this farm. I told him that I will shoot every goat that gets loose. I am sick to death of those creatures.

A young cow is in hard labor right now. She's in the shed, and I was worried about the newborn getting trampled, because the whole herd was in there (it's snowing still), so I fed them a few more rolls of hay in a dry area. Most of the cows are out munching on the hay now and the cow in labor has plenty of room. This is only her second calf.
