Yes, 107 degrees was the temp today. We have been above 100 since the end of July, and it hasn't rained either. I'm praying for Dean or any other hurricane to come on through.

I just spent some time in some white space--thought I was going to the light. But my post went through.

That's a first, praying for a hurricane! But I can certainly understand the dire need for rain and relief from the heat. Is that a record temperature and the number of days above 100? I can't even imagine! Hang in there Ruby!!

I'm watching the finale of America's Got Talent. They brought all of the freak acts back for some unknown reason! I think the ventriloquist is going to win. I could do without the rest though. It's kind of embarassing!

well, offically we had 13 days of temps over 100, so that would make it back first week of August, maybe August the 5th? But if you count the days it FELT LOKR 100 and the terrible humidity, a couple weeks before that, at least.
Yes, we , right here at my house have had some much needed rain. the state as a whole has not had that much.

Not much, MizT. I've got a couple of lots I'm trying to sell. A young man made me an offer that sounded rather generous, until I realized he wanted them both for that.

ahhh, some people will try anything when making an offer, glad you realized it was for both.
Ruby, we went up toward birmingham, and i was looking at the trees, on one hill , ALL the hardwoods were brown! I hope they are just stressed and loosing leaves early, and not dying!

It sounds pretty serious down south. Hopefully, the hurricane season will bring relief but not damage!

My red oaks are just falling off, they turn brown later. They have had a rough year. The cold snap in the spring hit them just as the tender leaves began to show. When they turned brown, I wondered how they could recover, but they did. Now this.

Did any of you see the video of the guy with the monkey puppet that lip-synced to a Michael Jackson song? I think it was on Granny Mo's page. It was funny.

Ru8by, in the spring, trees have secondary buds and even terciary ( SP? means 3) it is hard on them and they ause more energy, but they can recover from a freeze of the small leaves.
Stella, Ruby, this hurricane, DEAN, is most likely not going anywher enear the USA, I say probably, cause a hurricne can do most anything, but this one is not likely.

Dean was the first cat 5 to make landfall in decades. Luckily , it went inland in a sparcely populated area. unfortunately, it went ashore in a very poor area with no substantial houses, just " slat shacks". those poor people will find nothing left.

If I can't have a hurricane, I'd settle for some of that Texas rain.

I know you would Ruby, sounds like you really need rain. We have been fortunate here. I even saw a farmen advertising to sell Oklahoma hay. Means he inported hay for his animals, at great cost , and now does not need it, pastures are green again.
Yes, I read the local advertisement paper, it is called the MULE TRADER, and it does have mules, horses and other farm animals, equiptment, but also regular household things and you can learn a lot by just browsing through it .

Those local sale papers really work. My neighbor's dog had eight puppies. I put a five dollar ad in the Shopper and withing twenty-four hours all puppies were gone.

Ruby, did you see my earlier note about the news reports here? It said that thanks to the effects of Dean, the entire state was "predicted" to have rain on Friday. I think I'll wait til I see it.
MizT, did you have rain over that way? My sister spent 2 weeks here and it was just hot, she figured all of her plants at home there would be in bad shape by the time she got home.
Hi, Rena.

RUBY, our Mule trader is free to list add. But we have to purchase the paper, I think it is 60 cents. over 100 pages now, I have seen it really grow. I did the same thing with kittens a mama stray brought up for me to feed whenshe weaned them. Gave all 3 away in one day, even though one was injured and would need follow up care at the vet. Yes, tender hearted Mr Tricia paid for a vet bill when a dog attacked one of the kittens!
