Remember when your doctor would call with the tests? The last test I had, I had to call and go through a telephone tree. At the end, got a generic recorded message. Talk about impersonal.

On their initial estimate, they said it wasn't totaled, but at least $4,700.
We haven't worked out the other dilemma yet. Either S#2 has to come with us and miss school or we're thinking of asking a boy from S#1's soccer team who goes to the same school to give him a ride.

I would probably opt for him to go to school. He's in junior high now, isn't he?
Are you going to get a used car or are looking for something new?

Yeah, it's tough being without our most reliable car. The one hubby brings to work now is a 1989! Not the best car to be driving in rush hour traffic on the highway!

As of now, I'm assuming that they are repairing the car. I'd like to get a new, gas efficient, yet higher up off the road than a car, that can fit all of us (6), vehicle! But that will have to wait until current debts are under control. :(

I know what you mean. I had a Chevy conversion van for 13 years before we had to get rid of it. We bought a Bonneville and for the longest time I felt like my butt was scraping the ground.

Becky, hubby prefers a full sized van for a work "truck" but we do not have one at this time. Making do with a mini van with seats removed now. he is not out and about on jobs as much as previously, mostly in the shop working now. but I know what you mean, after a van, or a pickup, autos seem very low to the ground.

It's kind of ironic. I went from a van to a sedan and hubby went from a Daewoo to a Ford pickup. He likes his truck, but not the mileage. We've looked at the hybrids and cars that are supposed to be great on gas, but the cost of the cars outweigh any savings at the pump.

Yes, since our autos are paid for, I figure i can buy a LOT of gas for what a new vehicle would cost. Did that same computation back in the 70's when our first "energy crisis" raised the price of gas and sent many hunting for more efficent autos. Now when we had to replace auto back then we did go for more efficent and better gas maieage, but did not run out and trade in a good running paid for auto for a car payment!

The first car I owned was a 1968 Mercury, 2 door, 401 hp engine. It got 27 mpg. The car I have now gets 27 mpg with a smaller engine. Kind of sad, isn't it?

Our van is a Chevy conversion van! It is our second conversion van. I don't know what we would have done without it on trips with the kids. It was a lifesaver. (TV and VCR)

I wholeheartedly agree with billy’s comment. Regarding the chat room debate, an alternative chat room is not 'needed' to hide anonymously or cause 'grief' but to try and return to how it used to be on the whole. Yes there were times when some characters entered the chat room and caused mischief but for the majority of the time it was just people from the site, members and non-members equally, BOTH of which contribute towards the making of the site and how it is today. I hope that everyone can have a say and not just for the exclusivity implied here. I notice some vitriolity on the SA3 pages towards certain members/non-members and this I find unacceptable. As adults I hope we can discuss this sensibly and not like 'children in the playground'. Comments about people’s private lives should be left as just that private and while their comments may remain on the site I do not see the need to use them to spread further gossip on the evidence of just a few words. This is my first time on the SA3 forum and I am surprised and saddened that such topics are aired in this way.

An apology has been offered by Becky from Ohio (page 33) and it would leave it to be believed that it was not accepted.
I would like to know why you are eager to come to this page and give a virtual spanking to these ladies. Where were you when Bill from Texas, US and Lana from Toowoomba (among others) were being belittled? Were they considered to be weak, so therefore not worthy of being on this site?
To paraphrase Hamlet, I think they protest too much. I do not understand why certain people's hackles are raised as no names were mentioned. Maybe that is the problem, they want to know who.
I am not on this site often, but I have checked out the different forums. I have read quite a few pages here on SA3 and I have been surprised how well they follow each other's lives. They are supportive and can be silly at times, but that is what makes this forum unique.
Ladies, I hope that the above posts have not dampened your spirits. If no one else will speak up to defend you, I will. Though, I do not believe you need any help from me.

You're quick to judge Andre!! There have been over 20,000 posts on SA and you come in once and make such accusations. Perhaps you shouldn't say anything until you have read them all. I didn't know we were not permitted to discuss certain topics. Your's and Billy's and Jaz's comments seem offensive to me since you didn't partake in the discussion, you don't know the people here because you don't come here to post and are obviously taking comments the wrong way. I certainly don't know what you mean about ''vitriolic'' attitudes toward member/nonmembers. We have always been very open and inviting here! You can say whatever you want, but if you have a particular problem with something, you should be more specific about the statement. We were just contemplating the possible reasons why the chatroom was closed to begin with. People obviously look at the same thing differently, glass half full/half empty. You have to read the 20,000+ posts to know the difference. I know my intentions and I have come to know the people who come here on a regular basis, extremely kind and considerate people, and I choose to view it half full. It saddens me that you were all so quick to judge!

May I ask, Andre, what drew you to SA3 today, for the first time? Do not misunderstand, I am not trying to "start something" here. My intent is not to denigrate, defame or defeat anyone. We spent less than one page of posts on this discussion, so why is everyone so suddenly interested in SA3?
I am glad more people are wanting to join our discussions here. As you can see, most of our discussions concern famiy, food and personal things in our lives such as our health and well-being. We would love to get to know other members as well. So let me be the first to welcome you to discover our interests and our shortcomings and to enter yours if you so desire, or as you have discovered, just browse as several do. Hope to see you soon.

I don't believe that any topics are off limits, Stella, but it does strike me as inappropriate to post comments about other people's lives. Andre, Billy, and Jaz are among the most level-headed participants on this site, and I can't believe their comments weren't well-considered.

Cyndi I came here today to see how the forum was going and caught up on a few pages. I have read many comments at various times but have chosen not to comment before.
I am not quick to judge anyone and usually take a back seat but I didn't like the way some comments were written on page 28 and 29.

I just can't figure out what to say. I feel like I and the other people involved in the discussion yesterday are being called up on the carpet. If you don't participate in the discussions on this page, how can you assume to know the people involved. Things were mentioned but not to stir up trouble or hurt anyone's feelings. People are curious and want answers. Also, I certainly resent the implication we are trying to exclude anyone from this particular thread. It has never felt that way to me and when anyone new posts here, there is always a warm welcome extended.

Thank you BJC for your kind comments abut SA pages. We try to be welcoming to new members coming to visit us and to keep up with our regulars.
Spirits not dampened here, many of us just feel, the less said, the soonest mended. But if we are continually attacked indeed, we do not need help in defending ourselves. Support is welcomed, however. Do come back and visit us again.
Stella, I agree with you, I do not find yours, my or others' comments caustic toward anyone. This conversation about the chat rooms was perhaps too interesting to us because of the aura of secrecy about things that happened there in the past. I think curiosity got the better of a few of us.
