If you are a casual you usually just work when you are called in. Pay/hour is usually a little higher than a permanant position because they do not get any benefits. Does that help?

I guess closely relates to our TEMP jobs.

We have casual staff who are free to do other things but if when have a busy period, we can ring these people and tell them there is some work available if they want it. Usually short-term.

Yes, I think so. Deb was talking about it the other day. She's sick and she said her job was casual and she doesn't get paid if she doesn't work.

Gail, we have employment agencies, that a business owner cold ring up and say, we need a _______ for 3 weeks, and they would send someone over, Temporary service, called temps. some companies hire temps and if they like them offer full time jobs, after they check them out for a few months.

We have the same, although that is slightly diff. Casual is more casual!. Usually not through a temp agency just often friends of the young permanant staff members, who are currently between jobs or studying etc.

Shoot, I refreshed page and now all my avatars are missing, I am nekid! See if they return when I post again, sheesh. it is a bit chill, espically down there in Cookatoo!

I just do not see you as needing baby steps, you jumped into the chat pages like gangbusters, Gail. Made a successful new page, chat it up on Easy and on SA, got invited to the pub crawl and decided to go. NOPE, not actions of a shy person needing baby steps hehehehh
