Why is it that some people persist in posting jokes involving bodily parts and/or sexual inuendo, with no thoughts given to the readers of this site? I do believe that there are children who view these pages and it would be nice to see that that is taken into account. Just my own opinion. I suppose 'free speech' should be taken into account, but I just find it a tad puerile.

Ian, I had one comment removed because after I posted it (in a moment of haste), I decided it was too personal for this site. Just as others remove comments from their personal pages as they see fit.

and Andre how about asking the question in the page right under the said joke??..I did and also said my opinion about similar jokes sometimes back..it had no impact I reckon. As long as people enjoy it with 'rotfl' and with 'splitting the sides' and welcome it with, statement like, 'this is a site for grownups and they know what to read and what to omit'..'keep them coming' et al..think such jokes will continue to be posted.
well thats my opinion..:)

I think you are right there Anu. It wasn't one particular joke, just a few that have been posted recently. I usually don't read them but younger members might when visiting the site. I guess this has been talked about time and time again on the pages. I 'plonked' it here to open the debate for those who are interested.

I don't have much concern about children stumbling across risqué jokes here; they are exposed to much more on everyday TV.
But as far as bathroom humor is concerned, I think it appeals to many people because we're not that far out of the trees, in Darwinian terms. We're still a bit nervous about feces and reproduction. In evolutionary terms, we're still using urine to mark territory, or burying feces to escape predators. Sex is still primitive but enormously complicated by civilization's needs (despite modernist efforts to make it purely intellectual and hedonistic).
I don't object to those facts at all; they are just facts.
What I do object to is that sex and feces are a cheap way out for not-very-bright comedians (professional or otherwise, including the posters here) to get a nervous (Darwinian) tittering (no pun intended) laugh when there really hasn't been anything genuinely funny, much less clever, offered. It's a desperate refuge of people whose intellect and sophistication can't get beyond bathroom humor and bodily functions. But criticize them and see what happens.
And if you're tired of 'weiner stick' comments, maybe you ought to say so. If you don't, you should not come here and complain.

I am using this forum to let people have their say about the subject. I'd much prefer to have a civilised discussion instead of offending any one particular person.

In the third epoch of the last days in the time between the middle of the age of men and the dawn of the Trublugorians, there lived a miniscrole who held the title of Grand Peterbulator of the Second Order, the Third Order having bestowed upon frol Glisper.
Any comments, discussion, or debate?

Lord Tur Bulator I believe may have some provenance in relation to the second order of Grand Peterbulator and, further research suggests that evidence of the Cabvignon Sauernet Merlotians survival throughout the second dynasty of the Bulatations has recently been uncovered in the form of plates, still complete with dense air fins. I believe that on excavation of the said plates, the skeleton of an ‘Err Fig Polls’ (believed to be a relation of a Canadian film producer Trius Bluis) was found. Perhaps the Err was a distant relation to frol Glisper?

QUANTUM MECHANICS (STARRING SCHROEDINGERS CAT)
We will start from the 'Khaas bath'
The Humane Society has placed up for adoption a lovable cat that was
recently removed from the laboratory of a noted physicist. The animal
was abused repeatedly, having been exposed to poisonous gas and also
being placed in close proximity to radio activity. Cruel experiments
like this can not be tolerated. The owner has been charged with
numerous counts of animal cruelty.
(Dr. Schrodinger's cat is
recovering nicely, however.)

I strongly object the above mentioned piece of information which involves my name.
There is nothing wrong with the Schroedinger's Cat experiment! You aren't
actually killing the cat until you measure it... When the Humane Society
comes up and looks into your box, you can rest assured that the cat's death
is their fault...
well thats it..

Oh ya think, Doctor (sorry I cant spell that weird name every time!)..
your vet and lab attendant have different stories to tell. The verdict of your vet who specializes in
gassed cats and monkeys with Carpal-tunnel syndrome, makes your defense very weak.
and the lab attendant vouch that he heard the cat cursing you as it jumped outa the box,'"Damn you! Now I have only eight left"

Do you think that photography is one of the few subjects that can record history in its true form? How accurate do you really think it is? Does it give a more accurate account than say a written opinion based on a certain persons view point at that given time in history? Or is it used as a 'shock' value alone, to appeal to ones own emotions?

Photography is just as subjective as a written point of view, even before the advent of digital processing. What you choose to include/exclude, how you frame it,all shape the viewer's perception.

Does visual evidence have a greater impact though? My son had studied history and learnt about the war graves where thousands lie buried but, it was only when he went to see some of the graves for himself, that he realised the enormity of what had happened. The visual evidence overwhelmed him, the tunnels, the helmets and pieces of war remnants and it gave him a much greater understanding of the impact and reality of war. I don't think a history book alone can portray that image quite as well.

I agree André, but would a photograph do it justice? The impact comes from being there, immersing oneself in the experience.
I think people today are so familiar with distorted images through digital manipulation, and all the images they are bombarded with on the news, that they are more cynical about what they are shown. To see for oneself is still the best. Your son was very fortunate.

agree : the impact comes from being there, and immersing onself in the experience!!
In 1979, my friend and I while holidaying in Europe, we went to Dachau Concentration Camp, the eerie feel to the place of what has happened, you dont get that with photos or film.

Same when mum talks about the war (WW2) years in Holland, how they managed.
My Grandparents hid people the Germans were looking for in their attic. How one time after being searched, they ( Germans) came back shortly afterwards, my Oma shooed them away and said they had already looked and found no one.. meanwhile the hidden were halfway down the stairs at the time.

I'm placing an advert from YouTube here. It was advertising The Guardian newspaper but it wasn't the newspaper that attracted me I liked the message it put across. Who knows how long ago it was since it was aired on the UK TV but I still remember it.
