Stella..
my cherubs have been going on the public transport since they were 12 1/2, off to High School.
Okay it was only 6ks to High School, but their horrible difficult mother wasnt going to drive up and down to drop and pick up.
the First time (for mum) is daunting, but a breeze after that.. doesnt hurt for them to learn to be indepentant!!

Brenda.. I have one of those places that needs good tidyup/cleanup..
My house is noice and tidy, spick and span after our busy Saturday Morning getting the house back into Law and Order..
all except the sewing Room, also known as the 'Bog Swamp', at the moment it is very boggy and swampy !!!
good thing it has a door, which can be shut..

Hello Rolanda, Gail, both Mary's and anyone else who's about. Seems I've missed you all - bit busy with 'stuff' for the business.
Rolanda - my office is the 'bog swamp' here. If anybody is coming over - I just close the door.

Hello Rolanda, Gail, Stella and the Mary's...great convo since I was lucky enough to chat with Suzy and June. What fun...
Mary from Manly...you are looking good with your avatars and smilies...glad you are having fun...that's what life is now about!
Suzy and June...I relayed your stories to Sully and he had a big smile...He's prepared for a very painful period, and knows he must exercise...he say's ..'that's okay', because he's praying for relief in the end. He does have a high pain threshhold, so I'm comfortable with his choice of doing both knees at the same time.
I'll get my house in order while he's in the hospital and rehab...and it'll stay clean for a few days at least while he's away....Shhhh, he doesn't have to know that part of the plan....

Gail - I feel for you about your dog.
We had our dog, Bonnie, for 17 years and when we were 2 days off moving in here, in the middle of packing, we realised that her breathing was laboured. She'd gotten old but up to then her health was OK. Hubby put her in the car (she yelped from pain) and took her to the Vet. He said she was bleeding internally and he could give her drugs that would keep her going for a few weeks until we could all (us, kids, grandies) get our heads around it. But when the vet found out we were moving house 2 days later he advised she be put down immediately as she would not survive the move. A lot of crying and sad faces, I can tell you.

Hi Mamacita - had to smile about Sully's pain threshhold - I don't think many men have a high one. They've never known the pain of childbirth!
Good luck with his op - 2 knees at once - Wow! At least he'll get it over in one go. My Aunty had both her cataracts done at once, then said to us later - 'I couldn't find my way around the house' - we TOLD her to do them one at a time. She survived obviously.

Oops, sorry Gail!!
That's what I get for reading pages - going off and doing other things and then coming back to comment!
Either way - it's sad to have to put a much-loved pet down.

Some of you were talking about "Arthur." A friend of ours takes fish oil capsules for hers. We gave it to our 14 year old dog when he started getting stiff. After a few days, he seemed like his old self. Just a thought.

MaryM, you have some lovely smilies. I am so happy you are enjoying them. Now, you keep the instructions on how to do them, if I go so long again without doing a few, I might need a refresher course .
Catch you good people tomorrow.

Rolanda - d1 started to take a bus when she started high school too. My only concern was crossing the road to the bus stop - 80k zone with cars doing 100k around a blind corner. I watched from a window.... She's been doing it for over 2 years now, and hasn't been hit.
d2 started taking the bus in year 4 - that's when they introduced buses to the primary school. I actually meet her bus in the afternoons so she isn't dodging cars on her own!

Rolanda - my sewing room is also a bog swamp. It has a door, but unfortunately it is connected to the dining room by a wall of windows!!! All the way to the floor.... Hard to hide, though I tried with curtains...
