June, when you first get a dish washer it is great, no more hand washing dishes then after a while it becomes a chore to fill the thing and unpack it when it is clean. Having said that I wouldn't be without mine now. I have had one for 24 years.

At present I am sitting outside in my back garden doing the ironing. So far I have had to come inside and answer the phone twice (my fault I forgot to take them outside with me) and answered the door twice. When I am sitting alone inside neither the phone nor the doorbell ring On the up side I get a chance to be nosey and look to see if anyone has posted on here

Just a brief note to let you know that Rosemary has left a message on easy about CP's mother.
Sadly, after having the hip operation today, she has passed away, not being strong enough to recover.
My heart goes out to you CP.

ROLANDA, commenting late on your message about cooking. I started cooking for a family of 6 (ours of course) at age 12 when Mom went to work full time. Dad got home just after we children got home from school, but men did not cook in that era. So, he taught me how, and no, it was not ready to put on the stove. Oh, meat would be thawed and in fridge, but that was the extent of my help. I often sat on the kitchen floor (no table or chair in Kitchen) and leaned against the fridge doing homework on my knee, watching dinner cook. If I went into dining room adjacent to study, I would burn the food, and that was not allowed!

BRENDA, I had grown to dislike unloading the dishwasher, a big chore. Then I figured out why. IT HURT! Old author in back and hips did not like the bending. NOW I have a rolling chair (not , a desk chair) in the kitchen and i sit to unload an entire level, then stand to put them away. Not such a chore any more!

Unless I need something out of the dishwasher I try to leave it to whoevers turn it is to do 'cleanup' the kids take turns. sometimes it can't be helped and I have to empty the machine. If someone else is in I normally make a little bit of a noise and they come and help. I have a similar chair in the kitchen which I use when I have veggies to peel.

G'day all! Well, our internet was down for some reason since yesterday and it was driving me crazy. Hubby couldn't figure out the problem and I thought I was going to have to wait for him to get home to try again. It came back on its own! Yeah!

Now I see sad news all around. My deepest sympathy to Kate and CP who both lost their mums yesterday. Also wishing Broni a speedy recovery! We miss you! (ps: you better eliminate the jokes just in case there is a funny one. You don't want to split your side!)

We just replaced our dishwasher after 22 years. I agree Brenda, can't do without it but try to let others empty it when it is done! I'll have to remember that trick!! lol

OH MY, the news from Myanmar gets worse and worse, now they estimate over 100,000 killed. If that government does not let Distaster People in there to help, it is going to get even worse, with diseases taking even more of the survivors. Those poor people have no clean water and food is running out, many places that can get messages out say only a one day supply of food left.

Thoughts and prayers for all , and I feel so very helpless. Countries that have resorces and manpower to help are not being allowed in to help. Our gov has offered navy personel and equiptment that are nearby, to clean up debris and clear roads, hunt for bodies, but the country has not accepted our offer.

This may be worse than the Tsunami. Here, in New Orleans, even with resources and manpower available, you know how terribly long it took to reach all who needed help.

OK, off my soap box, but this is so very very sad.

I have only had a dishwasher for 4 years of my life - 1990 - 1994. When we bought this house there was a broken dishwasher here and we haven't yet replaced it. I have said that when I start work a dishwasher is a must!

Hello All...Just calling in to say hello and hope all is..... well, okay I guess...Too many sad things happening together on the site....So reach out and touch all those who have any part in your life while you can....One of the saddest things one can say is.... 'If only I'd have done or said that when so and so was still alive'....life lessons!

I'm so sorry to hear about CP's and Kate's moms.

Brenda, am glad to hear that Callie is ok. If you're like me, you sit and stew about what it could be.

Stella, your problem might be in the modem. Sometimes ours cycles off for no reason at all. We have to turn it off and let it alone for about 2 minutes, then turn it back on. So far it's worked doing that (knock on wood).

Just dropping in for a few minutes. Soon will have to take the clothes off the line (boring!), finish making up Mum's bed, then it's off to Parent-Teacher night...... it will be interesting to see what her science teacher has to say... she won't know about the lost book, at least I won't mention it, but she may have some other interesting things to say.

Hi Suzy, Sorry I was not around this morning to say Hi. Did the puzzles early and saw the news about CP(who I have met)'s and then did not check forum page but just went back to bed.
Hope all goes well at the Parents night. Hope your daughter has good teachers that give you good feedback.

Hi June, just snuck back to check if anyone was here before I left to do my 'chores'. I'm not sure what time Mum will arrive, and with my mobile out-of-order I won't know until she gets here...

CPs news has made me look at Mum's visit from a different perspective...

Brenda, I wouldn't dare try to iron in the back yard - the dogs would take off with the clothes! Sounds nice though
