Maen Sudokuland!! Coffee and Tea and choccie for all.

Ypu were busy here in SA4. Took me a while of reading to catch up again! You will keep Rolanda busy, making TOPP lists at that rate.

WOW you people have been chatting a storm since I went away on Friday. Friday's weather was really warm, it was great getting away in the caravan. Saturday weather turned cooler and wet. Woke up this morning to snow. Had a thoroughly good time away, relaxed all the time. Hubby didn't touch his laptop once, so he the weekend has done him good. We got home just after lunch, it has been snowing on and off all the time, but not lying on the ground.

Mama was so happy about the trip, she may not feel the chill. Glad you had a good time, Brenda. Did Callie go, too? You haven't mentioned her in a while.

Hi Ruby, no Callie stayed at home with the kids this time. D#1 takes her to dog training on Sunday mornings. Callie has ignored me since I got back. she has sat on DH knee and fell asleep. I get the impression she isn't too happy with me for leaving her at home

Hi Brenda, certainly is cold for this time of the year over your way. Glad the weekend went well.

Hi also Bean, MizT and Ruby.

Wet here today and with two floods in the sunroom yesterday hubby had to get up and clean out the gutters at 11 PM last night.

OH MY JUNE, 11 PM is not a good time to clean gutters. did you have to go and hold the flash light ( torch?) for him? Was it raining? Oh I can see a nightmarish mental picture, complete with upset male sound effects!

Hope that solved your water problem, and no more sun room flooding.

MizT, I was in bed reading and wondered what the banging was.I think he held the torch in his mouth. Did not say much as he knew he should have done them ages ago. Actually I think the clouds had cleared just so he could get the job done . Rain since has gone down the down pipe.

I will give you another interesting scenario. Because the gutter has been overflowing down the outside of the kitchen window(which is into the sunroom) for some time I have an orange blow up kiddies pool(about 2 foot diameter) taped to the window to catch most of the water.
When you walk into the kitchen you see this bright orangs plastic at the window.
A couple of years ago I would have got on the roof and done the job myself but I think my climbing on the roof days are over!!

Gutters.....up until recently we had forgotten what it was like to have gutters overflow!!!
Hoping to get the downpipes all attached to some form of water storage...better than having water coursing down the walls. Never had to resort to your extremes tho June. What a hoot
Must go do some puzzles.

June, I would have been the same as you if gutters needed doing. Now I too cannot climb ladders and do that type of job. Nowadays if the gutters need clearing and hubby doesn't do them after being told a couple of times then I hit him in the pocket and pay someone to do them, surprising how soon things get done

Just recently i have had to watch the level of my fish pond. It is just a small thing, raised up with seating around the edge. Originally it was only 18" deep, but we changed the liner in it and dug down to make it a little deeper. We have had so much rain lately that the water is lapping at the rim. It gives the birds and squirrels a nice place to drink, but I would hate for it to overflow and my fish to escape.

OH BRENDA, yes, must watch the level of your fish pond! Cannot have your fishes escaping!

I have read about ponds, at one time I tried talking hubby into building me a pond. then I read a pond board and found out how much work even a small pond really is, and decided I did not need one as badly as I first thought. I admire anyone who keeps a nice pond and appreciate the time you put into it.

I see the clock is still on Daylight time.
Brenda I have a big pot (100 litres) as a lily/fish pond and if it has filled to overflowing with rain there is not enough water going over the sides for the fish to swim out.

The Chicken dish is out of a magazine so I'm not sure if I can put that up, something about copyright! But the puffs I will put up tomorrow. It is dead easy, especially if you can buy frozen puff pastry in sheets.

June, I am trying to use up all the meat that I had in the freezer when the power went off! It was good in a way, it made us do a big clean out, and I was able to sort it all a bit neater. I now have a drawer for each meat-chicken, lamb and beef.

Mainly there is just the three of us to cook for but I freeze the meat in small portions just in case one of the older girls would like to join us. Saves cooking for the army and throwing it all away. It takes time to get use to cooking for small numbers when I was used to catering for six of us, plus doing the loaves and fishes for any extras who joined us!!!

I k now what you mean about catering for extras. When step daughter#2 was still living here I never knew how many I would be cooking for, she would often invite friends to stay for dinner without consulting us, I tended to make too much all the time just in case. Now the kids still at home tend to ask first then invite friends to dinner.

My niece stopped by on Saturday on her way back from Smugglers. She left on Sunday but her car broke down an hour south of here. We had to go pick her and the kids up. They're here until the van gets fixed and then I have to drive them down to get it. Hopefully, it can be fixed!
