too wet to bowl today so we just had quizzes and general social day. Rain will save me watering the garden.

Beautiful spring day here!
Somebody forgot to tell the weatherman it was autumn. 25C and very pleasant sitting on the park bench in my front yard after fertilizing all the plants.

Stella - sorry I've been chattering on here and I meant to say - that's awful what has happened to your niece. I hope she finds a cheaper way of having the vehicle repaired. What a mess for her.

I agree Cyn. I remember the days when we would have to choose between car repair costs and eating.
I feel for her too.

Gail, when my son was 6 months old (37 years ago) the automatic transmission in our car went and the cost was $150 - we raided his bank account to pay for it and repaid the money to him as it became available.

Unfortunately, my daughter and I didn't get much achieved these holidays. Usually we fit a lot more in. Didn't even go to the flicks!
Her first week was a social whirl. We had the lunch with Bean and Son of Bean, then drove to a friend's house in rural Vic to spend the night. next day I drove her and her friend back so they could go to a concert they have been talking about for the last 4 months! At least now I dont have to hear about it anymore...

folks...
All those flood stories sound familiar.
Growing up in Deni we were accustomed to the Edwards flooding every spring as the snow melted. [a thing of the past...not enough snow now to melt let alone flood the Murray and its annabranch - the Edwards]. We used to step out the side door, jump in the canoe and go sailing off down the creek, [usually dry], over the submerged fence and into the golflinks. There we had a wonderful water world to explore. A kids paradise.

More recently I blame the last 'indoor' flood on Sudoku. Did exactly what I was always complaining about my husband almost doing... Turned the taps on to run a bath and decided to play a 'quick' game of sudoku.....took me an hour and a half to clean up the mess!! Thank goodness we don't have carpets!!!

MORNING SUDOKULAND, coffee tea and choccie at the ready.

Flood stories, Oh I have had a few here in this transportable home! House was built with a "new" type plastic pipe. They find out it does not last over time. Lawsuits all around, and different companies ordered to replace all plumbing in all units they built or supplied pipe to builders. Of course no company can survive that kind of cash outlay, so companies went bankrupt. I was on the list for new plumbing three times, and they never got me. So, with increasing frequency, we get a break in a pipe and a flood.

First one was the worst I think. Hot water heater is tucked into a corner of my closet, barely accessible, think remove clothing and then remove an access door to find it. Pipe sprang a leak, and sprayed through a crack around the access door, soaking my clothes, the closet carpet, YUCK. I start to get dressed and find my closet resident, automatic clothes washing feature in mid cycle! hehe Can you see hubby removing soggy clothing happily? To gain access to the fountian of HOT water? THEN he decides yes, there is a problem and turns off all he water to house.

I fed my washing machine for a day and a half, getting everything washed , dried and back in closet again!

Many other flood stories available, and none of them pretty! Ask Rolanda about my babbling brook.

Hi MizT, would love a hot choccie. Bit late here for a coffee. I would be up on the computer all night because I could not sleep.

ROLANDA, thank you, could not remember " whipper snipper", although I have heard it often. I might have to find mine today and do some trim, since hubby did not get a roundtuit yesterday.

He is forgiven, sort of, as he did repair and put up my market umbrella on my small front deck. Gives me some much needed afternoon shade at my front door, and helps even my sun loving flowers need less water to survive.

Did I say our afternoon sun can be brutal? So called "sun loving" plants need some afternoon shade. VERY few plants can survive full sun here. Vinca, zinneas, salvia, moss rose, IF they get watered daily and sometimes twice a day (in containers)

It is strange, all of you talking about hot choccie at bedtime! chocolate keeps me awake as much as coffee does! I cannot have any chocolate after 2 pm, so any chocolate deserts I make are served at lunch! Eat chocolate candy, when I have it, mid morning with a coffee break.
