Morning everyone
Hope you all have a great ?????
went and did my hydrotherapy deep water running last night,
and must say what a scream, those belts that they make you wear, for flotation, made me feel like I was going to flip over all the time.
so my excercise was trying to stay upright.
The other girls kept laughing at me grrrrr
next week we are going to the exercise group earlier not the deep water thingy hahahaha

Me too on the Thanksgiving meal Heidi. I'm very tempted to attempt my first Turkey dinner. We haven't had one since we moved to Oz in 2000. It's a tough decision though as hubby won't be home until about 7.30, I've never cooked a turkey before, and the turkey will cost me between $35 and $40... That's a lot of money to throw in the bin if I ruin it!! I just realised I can't do it! There isn't time to defrost the turkey by Thursday, even if I buy one this morning.

suzy, just stick it in a sink full of cold water. change the water out every hour or so. it will defrost in a day. however, 40 bucks for a turkey is more than i would be willing to spend. it is a special dinner though and has a great sentiment behind it. your hubby's heart would probably melt if his thoughtful wife suprised him with a thanksgiving feast when he came home.

You can't get a fresh turkey there? Anyway, turkeys are easy to cook. Stuff 'em, put a cover on, pop 'em in the oven and keep basting them until they're a nice, even golden brown. The secret is frequent basting so you keep it moist, and look at it so it doesn't over cook.

At least you have someone to cook for. I will be all alone, except for the critters. I HAVE gotten the dogs a treat, though.

Heidi, that's one of the problems with the holidays - wonderful for most, but terrible for those alone. I'm wondering though, would you rather have IH there or be alone?

Just back from yoga, my meeting and pulling a "Gail" hehehe!
I'm about done in with just that...Heidi and Mariana, I'm with Nola on this one - you women wear me out just reading about your days!
Of course, Viv and Suzy can do that to me too.
I'm afraid I have a low activity threshold!

HEIDI, if you could just drive, come on down to my sister's house, Blount Springs Exit off I 65, just south of Cullman Alabama, one more is always welcome! I don't even have to ask!
HEIDI, How far are you from Murry KY? I could get you an invite there too if Val is cooking and this gal friend VAL is some great cook! I am serious, let me know.
SUZY you can bake a chicken, poor man's thanksgiving, and make stuffing and the other traditional thanksgiving meal items, whatever was tradition in your hubby's family. Pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, sliced ham, peach cobbler ( from summer frozen peaches) growing up many a thanksgiving we had chicken and dresing for our meal. OH OH, I forgot to find any pickled peaches! noone but me eats them much, but they were always on our table growing up. and the red sliced spiced apples too. I might have to stop at the grocer on the way up Thursday!

MARIANA, usually I had such a LARGE turkey preparing for extended family, sink would not hold it for thawing. My toddler thought having the turkey in the bathtub (cleaned and sanatized to within an inch of it's life, and the turkey was still sealed in plastic, too) was how cooking a turkey started. she loved helping give the turkey a bath hehehe. her job was to keep turning him over, cause a turkey will float, you know.

Tricia - that's a great menu you just suggested to Suzy...it would feel pretty close to Thanksgiving to me. But one of the best parts is having the turkey sandwiches afterwards...sigh!

Hey all. Done with most of the chores. Only have to feed dogs.
IH IS GONE FOR 5 DAYS!!!! FIVE STRESS FREE DAYS!!! I enjoy cooking, and prefer having a turkey I raised myself. (I know that they were happy and healthy every day of their lives, and when they go, they don't feel a thing... better quality of life than a store bought... and no added chemicals) But it can be VERY stressful having Thanksgiving with IH. One year, he watched me select the bird, butcher and dress it, stuff and cook it, with all home grown fixings. One half hour before I was ready to serve, he disappeared, and didn't return for 3 hours. Of course, I was fuming. His excuse??? ........... wait for it.........
He went to a friends house for Thanksgiving dinner.
