Hi all. Just got back on today and haven't had time to catch up with you all. Will try in the next couple of days.

We got hit by the remenants (sp?) of Ike. What a mess.

Our area was hit by 75 mph winds. Electric went out on Sunday and didn't get it back until yesterday (that's a whole 'nother story). Internet came back up today.
We didn't have any property damage, thank heaven. Some neighbor's weren't as lucky. One 4 doors up from us had a big limb fall on their roof. She lives alone because hubby is in a nursing home. Hubby, me and about 5 other neighbor men got the limb down, cut up and piled it along the curb for the chipper truck.
On the next street over to the north, a tree went thru their kitchen. On the street to our south tree just missed their house by inches.
I don't know how we lucked out. We have the tallest tree in the neighborhood and all we got was deadfall and one small limb down. Filled up 5 trash cans and 2 yard waste bags which were picked up today.
There was a lot more damage, but way too much to list.

Bean, the avatar is left over from the cruise celebrating CynB's retirement. We were attacked by pirates and had to fight them off!

I was pretty lucky here, Becky. We also had 75 MPH winds, but they didn't last long, and we had minimal damage. Louisville is still in bad shape, with thousands of homes and businesses still without power. A lot of grocery stores have no power, so can sell no perishables. They don't know when power will be restored.

absolutly! organize a task force to come do the finish work on my house. as long as the labor is free i will pay for the trip. lodging may be very rustic as you will have to stay in the unfinished house working 14hr shifts. i can only feed you for a few days so you will have to work fast. my job will be to point out everything you are doing wrong. (i really excel at that.) the finish work includes, painting walls, ceiling and trim. one ceiling needs to have a faux finish. i have 22 large wood windows. those will need to be sanded and stained. same for the 30 doors. the wood floors might as well be done at that time too. i also have leather flooring in the master bedroom and library. this floor will need to be waxed and buffed. windows will have to have the lable glue scraped off and washed. i am sure there are a gajillion things i haven't thought of so we will have to make time for all the surprises. oh man! you will have to be here for a month! can you get that much time off? how will i do this all by myself? guess i shouldn't plan on moving in anytime soon. and that is just the finish work! we are still working on the basics!
