Thats a lot of money Heidi and may be worth the little extra in premiums per year. Would you have to pay for the autopsy also?

OH HEIDI, I am so very sorry Challenger is gone. how shocking. He was such a beautiful animal. I know you will miss him so very much.

I sent off that last long PM before reading this, so accept my apologies for not mentioning it there. Does your trainer carry insurance covering animals in his/her care? That is a HUGE monetary loss to just have to eat. Gee, I am so shocked, no words to express.

Greetings and Salutations!

Brenda, thanks for the link to a picture of the speakers. I will join the others who said it wasn't at all what they imagined. How very unique and beautiful! Much nicer than the large rectangular boxes we commonly see. I hope you will have many years of enjoyment from your new speakers!

Mama, so sorry you must deal with the gall bladder pain! Hoping all doctors can agree on a solution that is in your best interest! Hopefully you will begin to feel better soon!

MizT, getting excited for you and Heidi!

Heidi, I am so very sorry about Challenger! I know he brought a lot of pleasure to you - and to others. It just doesn't make sense. Could something have been in his feed? He was active and used to working, so seems unrelated to that. It's time for a lot of things to go right for you, young lady! Surely there must be something to be done to recover at least part of your investment in him. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Suzy, don't you hate it when you lose a post? Isn't this supposed to be a quiet day at home alone for you? Should you be having a nana nap? I hope some of the lashing out (blame it on hormones and postpartum) is subsiding!

Positive thoughts, prayers, healing vibes, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for everyone!

I have to reconstruct some of my post...

Mamacita, I would be terrified too! I hope the docs find a way to do this safely!! A bunch of thoughts headed your way....

Brenda, I love the speakers too! So glad you were able to find replacements. How about letting the carpet around them get dusty this time?

I should be clearer, it's not Dana doing the lashing out, it's Alie. Daniel is sleeping 8 hours at night and Dana is calm and well rested. Calmer and better rested than I am!

I have kind of got to a place where I can accept the apparent lies as maybe, maybe not, and what can I do about it anyway. When Dana tells me she admires a particular person for their honesty I bristle a bit, swallow it, vent to hubby and move on.

Oh Heidi, I'm so sorry about Challenger!
Suzy, I'm pleased to hear that Daniel is a calm baby and that Dana is doing well. Now, to just calm Mum/Grandma down! Thinking of you all!
Emily seems to have recovered from her seizure and went to school today and here for dinner tonight, her normal bubbly loving self. Tomorrow starts the Doc's appointments. Hope they get it sorted sooner rather than later.
Been busy getting things ready for the royal visit, Mr & Mrs Rolanda!!
Big hugs to all!! Off to catch up on my TV watching - Coronation Street, Eastenders and The Mole.

Hi all, I read posts, but no time to comment. It usually takes me a WEEK to organize and pack for a trip, and here we leave in 48 hours and no even a list made hehehe.

Heidi, dogs allowed in park, but must be on leash at all times. There is a fire ring for campfires, and there is wood for sale at the store, and are allowed to pick up dead falls in park.

When I go downstairs to water and get my lunch, I HOPE to remember to take photos. If I send you photo of our building from the street, you could find us easier.

Did I say our alley is torn up again? No parking for residents in alley, it takes one of our exits away, a big mess at the moment. Already poured 2 large sections of concrete behind building, one yesterday and one today already, but still a long way to go. did I mention selection of campsite is first arrive, first choice? They do not assign certain space with reservation.

Off to make a list
Hugs to each of you

Challenger has been buried. I decided to bite the bullet. He was in the care of my trainer friend, Anita, and I decided that I didn't want to know what happened, on the off chance that it was something she could have prevented. I decided that the friendship was worth more than the loss. I find it hard to believe that he's gone, though. I still need to break the news to his breeder.
( btw.... there was a small thunderstorm around the time he died, but Vets tell me that most lightning deaths can't be diagnosed reliably anyway. If it was lightning, the Vet would probably have to state ''cause unknown'' on the certificate...... hence no insurance claim.)

Heidi, how awful. I do hope you can find out what happened to Challenger. Such a beautiful horse. you must be devastated.
Cyn, I do hope they can sort something out for Emily. I can understand how upsetting it can be for you all.
Mamacita, I do hope they are able to do something for your gall Bladder problem. I do believe it is an awful pain.
Rolanda, have a great trip. it is nice that you and Peter are getting away together.
Suzy, thinking about you and the family.
I was asleep and ken had the TV on and it woke me up. That was a couple of hours ago but I cannot get back to sleep. Yesterday we went to a distant relatives funeral and today Laura has a book parade (they dress up as their favourite book character) so we will go to her school. She is wearing the cheater/leopard costume I made for her concert. Not sure what book she is supposed to be as it is a Tiger in Jungle Book and Lion King. As long as she has a costume to wear I know she will be happy. These are the times that she needs her Mum and her Dad will not come to us to help. (Sharon would have involved me in helping do an appropriate costume).
I also went out yesterday and bought myself a new top to wear out to dinner on Saturday night.

Heidi...condolences on the loss of Challenger. Regarding the monetary loss, its nice to know people who value friendship more than money...far too rare today...good onya. You and Miz T have a great visit...it will do both of you good to have an enjoyable outing to look forward to rather than all that has been in the recent past for you both.Stay safe while traveling to and fro.
Pain has subsided a lot, but I'm not yet fully free of it, but for now, it's a great improvement.
Suzy...let Allie know that its great to be concerned about her sister...and she can really show it with her helping instead of expecting others to bare it fully. If she doesn't help, she should just be quiet...I'm really not thinking of it in quite those calm terms...but you know what I mean...lol. You, my dear friend, must take care of yourself. Dana will be okay...but for her own sake as well as her hopes and desires for her kids future, she MUST control her desires long enough to be sure there is an umbrella around to catch the spills...otherwise, she will keep getting flooded out.
Cyn, glad Em is on the mend and back in school. Have a good time with Rolanda and Peter when they arrive.
Have a great day/night all. Peace.

I knew I forgot one when I reconstructed my post - Emily! Big hugs Cyn, Don's father had grand mal seizures - the ones you sleep for a day afterward. Vet affairs in the US didn't believe my MIL so one time she dragged him into the car after one (he was twice her size), drove down to vet affairs and said 'now tell me he isn't having seizures'. After that he got the help he needed. In the 10 years before he died I don't remember him having a seizure. But he was on two different anti-seizure meds and never drank alcohol in the time I knew him. Long story to get to they will sort it out one day. He didn't even go to the hospital for his seizures in later years. I was told it's not really necessary for the actual seizure, just for readjusting meds. He was 80 something when he died.

Long way to get to it will be alright. It won't be 'normal', but it will be alright. Who's normal anyway? And they are coming up with new treatments all the time!

Mamacita, Dana was having the rod put in. I thought she had actually done it, but since she would have been pregnant at the time, it would only have been done if she really was misdiagnosed.

Hi everyone. Suzy - congrats on becoming a grandma again - your little grandson will bring much pleasure. Heidi - am so sorry to hear of Challenger. I know he has a special place in your heart. Mamacita - hope you are feeling better - sounds like it is time to get rid of that blasted glall bladder. CynB - hope Emily stays free of seizures. Have you heard of Prof. Michael Murphy? He specialises in epilepsy at Epworth in Melbourne - worth researching his credentials. He operated on my niece yesterday (brain tumour)- hers was a difficult case but all went well and semms to be minimal loss of function. It has been a horrible couple of weeks waiting but thank goodness the worst is over. I have been called in to see the Prof. of renal tomorrow - should be interesting to hear what he has to say about my 'unapproved' treatment. Had my little holiday in Townsville for a wedding and catch up with old friends - was really lovely - only bummer was I couldn't use the pool and Jetstar were cranky about freighting my dialysis fluids. Won't be using them again! Busy week coming up with 3 days taken up with hospital visits but great the following week - will be going to Perth for a few days (work and pleasure). MizT and Heidi - sounds like you two will have fun. Best wishes to all.

What a terrible day. At 5pm we were covered with a dark cloud of smoke and when you got a glimpse of the sun it was a magenta colour. By 7pm the wind had changed and we had sunlight but the smoke could be seen to the north. The fire is well away from us. Belinda is also OK. I notice there was a report of a fire south of Suzy, but it no longer seems to be getting a mention.
Laura was happy with her 'Book Parade'. I think as long as they have a costume to wear they are happy. There were lots of innovative ideas. The best fun is looking at what all the teachers are dressed as.
The wind has dropped and it is much cooler here.

Hi Midge...glad you had an enjoyable time away at the wedding. Best wishes to your niece on her op recovery. Brain surgery is can be very worrying.
Cyn...Emily must just pick up where she left off and wont remember. Good that she has gone to school and feeling fine again.
Suzy...My apologies presuming it was Dana that felt you should be doing her laundry for etc. KIDS!
Sorry Dana.
Tell us what little Daniel weighed at birth and do you still have Tahlia with you?

Daniel was a healthy 6lb 9oz - how?? Tahli has funny looking marks on her that don't quite look like insect bites. She is fully immunised and we don't know of anyone with chicken pox that she has been around. A nurse is coming over tomorrow to check her out.

The laundry was a comment from a friend of Dana's... Dana doesn't expect anything, other than rides in the car. Alie is a pain in the bum at times.

Midge, glad you got your holiday away. Sorry about Jetstar... Life is hard enough on dialysis without rubbish from the airline.

June, the fire to the south of us is still going strong on emergency warning status. Updates every 5 minutes on the radio driving home from singing lessons in Wollongong. Far enough south of us that we don't have to worry, but we know people who live there. The one that could have jumped the highway to get to us is down to advice level, as is the one on my brother's road. My sister in law must be a mess today, but the new phone number she gave me doesn't work. My brother is in WA at the moment, but she has been home there with her brother.

Oh dear, these fires are scary.
Suzy, pleased things seem okay for you and I hope they stay that way, hope your SIL is okay.
June, also pleased you are safe - and Belinda.
Worried about Amelia and her hubby - they are packed ready to leave at a moment's notice.
And Martha's hubby has headed south - he's a fire-fighter.

Thinking of all the people in harms way from the fires in Oz. Hopes, wishes and prayers the fires are soon contained, fire crews are safe, and no loss of life from them. So very scary.

Suzy, do you suppose that in addition to the usual raging teens issues, Allie is upset about Dana in some way? Not knowing what to do with the conflicting things she feels for her sister at this time? Just a thought.

Under the happy to hear heading:
Happy to hear Em has recovered from the seizure and is back to her normal self, and back in school. Cyn, keep us informed as test are done.

Mama, good to hear your gall bladder pain has subsided. I know your concerns of being intubated for the surgery, but sending hopes it can be done, in and back out with no lasting effects. You too keep us informed as you and docs make a decision.

I made my list of what to pack, and have got a few things marked off already. Most of the things needing packing cannot go into the case till Friday morning, my meds and comfort items like rice sock etc, cause I do not have duplicates. Just having a list to mark off as I put them in is a big help for me.

Now I am off to make the list of things I need to do and figure when I do them. OH, the expected rain for weekend came through early, temps are moderating already, I have windows open inviting in the fresh after rain smell. Construction noises coming in uninvited, as the crew is again setting forms for more concrete pouring in the alley.

One more sleep, then Heidi will be on her way !! We had a phone chat last night, about food for our trip. Good to hear her voice again.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Is it my imagination, or is it early in the season for fires in Oz? It looks like this is going to be a bad Spring and Summer! I hope everybody that I care about, and their loved ones, stays safe. ''They'' are predicting a bad Winter here in Kentucky. We haven't had a bad one since the ice storm, and I REALLY don't want another Winter like that. At least the front end loader of the tractor can be used as a snow plow.

Morning all, only one red dot left on the current fire map, a few yellows and a lot of blue, which is very different to the 36 out of control fires I hear mentioned on TV this morning.

Yes, this is early in the season for fires. It's not uncommon for fires to start this early, just not so many at one time.

The one that was supposed to be on my SIL's street wasn't there! I was the first to ask her about it, but she was shocked to have several more contact her throughout the evening.

The bushfires here are the worst for many years but thankfully, so far, no deaths. Greg has a sister close to fires at Lake Macquarie but is fine so far.
June...I saw photos over Sydney with the smoke over the harbor. It brings back awful memories of when I was a kid and the Central Coast of NSW was alight. My heart goes out to those who have lost everything.

CynB - hope your few days with Rolanda are great - it is so nice to hear of Sud friends getting together. Suzy - get the Pinetarsol out - it sounds like you ar in for a busy time with Tahli. June - glad the fires are away from you - it is so scary with the wind chages. I will be glad when this week is over - my 3rd son went to Dr yesterday and was sent to Cabrini emergency. Good Evening, Friends!

Midge, it's always a pleasure to have you visit! Seems you have been very busy. Good news so far for your news, so sending positive thoughts and healing vibes. So sorry to hear about your son. I hope he can get lots of good information on diabetes and the role played by eating and exercise. I hope he can get it under control. {{{HUGS}}} to you as you meet with the renal doctor and hopefully get some good answers. Positive thoughts and healing vibes for all who can benefit from them. (Be sure to save some for yourself.)

June, you did indeed have quite a day. So sorry to hear about the fires I'm glad they aren't too near you or Belinda! Laura's 'Book Parade' sounds like fun.

Nola, I must admit that I had also jumped to conclusions and assumed that D had complained to Suzy. I hope the fires in your area don't cause any loss of life! I'm sure you're looking forward to the upcoming visit!

Suzy, hang in there and don't let yourself be offended by comments from others. Daniel wasn't huge, but wasn't underweight! Did I read correctly that he sleeps 8 hours at night? Never had that kind of fortune from my babies. I hope Tahli doesn't have chicken pox, and also hope her bumps aren't anything serious.

CynB, good news that Emily is doing so much better. I hope the doctors can find something that will help her avoid such seizures in the future!

MizT and Heidi, I think the excitement is also building in all of us! Have a wonderful visit! You both deserve it!

Heidi, you are indeed a special friend to put friendship above the possibility of getting some return on your money. You're right - Challenger is gone and nothing can be done about that, though we know he will be missed!

Safe travels, Rolanda and Peter!

Time to hit the hay. We have 2 straight full days of demonstrating wood turning and encouraging people to join our club. Hopefully Sunday will be uneventful.

Feel free to share the {{{{{HUGS}}}}}}, positive thoughts, prayers, and healing vibes!

Evening all, another big day today. Hubby's birthday. I took Dana shopping for his present from her. I also spent a bunch of time getting my phone sent off and a temporary replacement. I forget how to get around a regular phone!

We all went out for dinner and then came back here for cake. Hubby is taking them home right now.

Dana and I also went out for lunch and she saw the nurse. The spots are only on one arm so, although they look like they could be chicken pox, if it is it's weird. It could be flea bites but it is a week since Tahli climbed into the dog beds at our house so....

Well little Daniel is the perfect baby, rarely cries, settles easily and sleeps all night. Tahli gets up in the morning and goes to him to say hello and give him a kiss.

Even Alie has been transformed!! She has resented Tahli all along, hating it if we bought her anything or did anything for her. Someone stole that Alie and gave us back one who is happy to hold either child, for as long as they need it, not only happy for gifts to be bought, but buying them herself!
