MizTricia.... It sounds like you've got everything pretty much under control. A hint, though. Ice on the epidural site for the first 24 hours. Heat on it after that. I have had nearly 30 of the things, and a few have had the multiple stabs with shooting pain down the legs afterwards. Take it easy, call the doctor with any problems (that's what he's there for) and maybe even soak in a nice hot bath. It'll get better.

June, I hope today is quieter so that you can catch up with yourself a bit. Don't forget to chat to hubby about it....

taking deep breaths and have given myself time. i have until the end of next week to decide on appliances.
june, i'm feeling ya! a good cry and some rest really works wonders. that is the survival mechanism i use most while my husband is gone.

Last night a group of teenagers hung around on the street waiting for 5.30 to come and go. They were terrified they were going to die. The media needs a big kick where it hurts!!!! Fear creates ratings, so why not??

SUZY, I do think if all I had was surgery pain, I would be taking noting but tylenol! Nerve pain is a color of a different horse. I did stretch them out to a pill every 4 hours, will give it till tomorrow (just fore I run out of pills) to see if it gets even better fore calling doc back again. I HATE PAIN PILLS! have never taken this many before for anything. But I do know when they are needed.

MizT, are you stretching them out because you hate pain pills or is the pain actually a tiny bit better?

Heidi, yes, doing the ice, my tale is told! actually was told to alternate ice and heat, cause the body gets accustomed to either, and ignores it, for pain relief that is.

Suzy... ????? What was that about? Why were those teens afraid that they were going to die?? Don't just drop a bombshell like that and leave. Fill us in.

MizT, I don't know what kind of painkillers they gave you, but I get Methadone for mine. Great stuff. If I need it, I feel NO pain.

Well, out to do my feeding chores. Back soon. Hopefully Suzy will have explained by then.

SUZY Asked why I was stretching out the meds. . .it is getting better, not as severe and the meds are working for longer. When I worked, I preached "we do not give awards for the patient taking the least pain med, take what you need", would be a complete hypocrit if I did not follow it. I just hate them cause they put me in never never land, cannot talk a straight sentence, or think a straight thought. Walking a straight line is laughable! I take this med and go to bed, go directly to bed, do not pass go. In fact, just took another (reason I can put more than 2 words together, med had worn off) so it is time to get me back horozontal. See you when I can get vertical again.

The Large Hadron Collider thing Heidi and MizT. Don't tell me the US news was actually responsible and reported on the good things that could come out of this amazing machine rather than the discredited theories that it would end the world????

A whole group of local teens collected together out the front all waiting to see what would happen. It was disgusting! (Not them, the media hype that sent them there). A slightly older teen yelled at them, 'See it's after 5.30 and you're still alive. Told you it was a bunch of cr$p!' Ebob tells me it was a major topic of discussion at school too with some kids saying 'goodbye' to each other at the end of the day.

Heidi, I have lortab ( hydrocodone and tylenol mix). I do not usually need much pain meds, one lortab would put me to sleep for 6 to 8 hours, this is most unusual for me to take this much pain med. After taking one whole tab, when I next woke, I would take a half. By day after, on to much more gentle pain meds, and nezt day tylenol. do not think that will happen this time.

Anestheologist was very nice, said if it got worse to come to ER and they would give me IV pain meds, NO THANK YOU, laa laa land for sure!

OK, meds starting to work, to bed for me again. Lazy MizT , that is me.

OH, the atom smasher, nope, we did not get headlines of end of the workld, not even on AOL online news.

MizT, I had something similar when I was on pethadeine (think that's how to spell it). Other people said they floated etc. I just fell asleep and missed all the fun. If I had visitors they had travelled at least an hour to get to me so I would resist and resist until they left because I knew as soon as I had the injection I was off to sleep! But what a wonderful sleep...

Our news stories mentioned that it was discredited info, but in the fine print after mentioning the court cases to stop it etc etc. I thought it was bad reporting, but when I saw how scared the teens were I was furious!

Yes, I was disgusted by the hype it was given too Suzy. Just read that a girl in India committed suicide because she believed it so much. TE mentioned the whole thing to me when she got into the car after school last night, she said her friend was totally convinced it was going to happen. Was the first I'd heard of it!
Anyway, she discounted it...but sat with us through the appointed minutes! Then got straight onto the pooter to go nah nah to all the believers! That's my cynical daughter for you!

BTW I am officially here! I have given into the addiction and allow myself one hour every morning when I get back from drop-off...just don't tell anyone, ok.

Teenagers do love the DRAMA! Don't know anything about the one who committed suicide. I'm so grateful I don't have all that hormonal insanity running through my head anymore (well, just a little!)

Luckily I'd already vented at home about the irresponsible reporting and acted like I understood all the stuff that discredited the hype so Ebob was prepared when the kids at school started stressing and was pretty sure that everything was going to be okay. I don't think she was postive, much like TE.
