Break a leg Toy Elephant!!!!

Well, we are home and she certainly broke many legs for you all! It was a senior youth production, and she didn't get involved with it till later in the term. Luckily they had one kid drop out so she took over HIS role and played the part of a male.
She did extremely well and we are very proud. The main thing is she enjoyed herself and would like to continue with the theatre group.

I did notice it came up Suzy. Gath is good!
Hope she had a fantastical day. It is fun having people from all over the world wish you Happy Birthday.

Congrats to Toy Elephant Gail! I agree about 'enjoying herself'. The only activities that doesn't necessarily apply to are school and homework!

Which reminds me - report cards come home next week!

I have left you coffeeliss while I was up and working. first things first, here is coffee.

Now for what I have been doing. I made NO PECTIN ADDED PLUM JAM! And it did jell, too, yeah! We will not be having 3 and 1/2 pints of plum syrup hehe.

My neighbor gave me plums with the deal, I make them a couple pints of Jam. buying pectin was running the cost way high, that stuff price has gone UP UP UP! so I decided to try the old fashioned way, recipes from before comercial pectin was available. Neighbor had picked the plums under ripe to green, I have had to ripen them up somewhat, so I had the necessary 1/4 of the fruit underripe (green fruit , peels and seeds have pectin ) so, why not use what you have?? AND guess what? It did set, on first try, I have jam, yeah!! Usually I have partial jars left over for imediate use, this time, just a couple tablespoons. I think we will have it on toast or English muffins for breakfast today. Must taste test, fore giving any away, you know!

I shall adjust the recipe to give a higher yield next time, and yes, do have more plums to make more, when they ripen a bit more.

I also put a quart bag of plums in the freezer, hubby likes stewed plums with plain cake . . . have I said all this before? sure sounds familiar, some of it.

Am I a glutton for punishment or what? I just picked 2 more baskets of plums! Oh My. I did find out neighbor has a machine for crushing fruit and spitting out the pits, not that would save a LOT of time. I must remember to borrow it from her once these plums ripen a bit more! What a nice toy to have.

Al said the plum jam was really good, glad he liked it! I did too, yummy. Now I feel a nap comming on, or at least a long sit in the lazy bottom chair.

NOW, that would save a lot of time!

MizT, I have never used bought pectin. Always add the juice of a lemon when making jam.

Morning all! Just here for a few minutes today... that tornado that hits on a regular basis hit this weekend, and boy did it do a lot of damage! I will be very honest today and admit that this was actually a worse tornado than usual, not just DAD, but DADS. I have managed to contribute to this one too...

I have just worked out why the damage is so great this week... Thursday and Friday I was barely home, rushing around doing last minute birthday shopping, watching school assemblies etc etc etc. That meant I didn't get my usual daily stuff done! Now it all makes sense...

MizT, send some of that jam this way!

Hubby doesn't have TAFE this week so I will get to spend some time on extravagances. Today I should be baking banana bread, if I get time after undoing the damage..

I will put out more Jam with the coffee, help yourselves. Today I picked another 2 baskets of plums, I think I shall get a lot of jam and stewed plums put by for winter. My neighbor said she had a machine that crushes fruit and spots ut the pits, that would save me lots of time, think I shall go and borrow it tomorrow or tuesday, whenever the plums ripen a bit more.

Last night I managed to be on as son had to work and then when he came home at 9pm he then watched tv.
Normally I have to be out of here as its in his room and he hits the sack at 9pm.
