Thanks all for the kind words. It is very hard to capture the red spectrum as the eye sees it, as the digital camera makers arbitrate on the depth of colour in the red spectrum by the use of in-built filters, which tend to give an untrue, watered down version of what you see.

What I remember was that at first sight it looked like a huge neon display, the reds being particularly intense.
As DOA said, I had by being in the right place at the right time.
