The migraine is gone. I know there's a headache in there in the background so I'll have to be careful, but so far so good! Thanks. I'll have to go read the Easy comments. I didn't go back on there after the last time I posted there.

I read all of the suggestions on Easy regarding migraines. Jeb's was very funny, although I couldn't sacrifice my thumb at this time, I need it to carry all of the bleepen boxes and suitcases this weekend. lol

I have had a wonderful day. I said yesterday we were showing some overseas visitors around Sydney but did not say it was Linda/Pioneer and her husband.
We picked them up in the city at 1.30pm, visited the Olympic site and then drove south to Wollongong. Had some dinner at Wollongong and drove back to the city, dropping them off just before 10pm.
Linda's husband and family had been apprehensive about her meeting up with some one she had "met" on the net. Anyway we all had a most enjoyable day and they are both enjoying their trip to Australia. I have posted a couple of photos on my page. (I also gave her a couple of the pink camelias from my garden)

STELLA, the pinch between fingeer and thumb works for me, too. if you feel around and find a really sore spot there, way down in the fleshy part close to the bones, and them massage that sore spot away, headache will improve. This one has been researched, and comes from ancient
chinese accupressure. the Chineese would not still be doing this if it did not help! I had forgotten that one.

Good morning MizT! Sorry I missed you June. Sounds like you had a great SA meeting with Linda!
MizT, I tried the pinch finger method because I had learned accupressure many years ago, but it did not work this time. I think there were two headaches involved, the sinus and the migraine, and it just wouldn't work. It was the coca cola and chocolate with heat and cold that finally worked. When you're desperate, you'll try anything. It's the quick infusion of caffeine and sugar that does the trick.

I am glad the coke and chocolate worked! I cannot imagine using COLD for my headaches, have always been partial to warm.

did you read earlier about the hair dryer trick I used? found that one by accident, when a headache developed right after I washed and rolled my hair, and had to get it dry, headache or not, back in the days of the boufant hairdo and a head full of rollers. I think when I mentiooned that last night, you were too ill to notice .

I did start the "think your hands warm " e mail, but am finding it hard to write. I know how to do it, but to explaine, espically in the written word, is more difficult than in person.

I don't have one of those hair drying machines so I used a heating pad on the back and top of my head. The cold cloth was to help relieve the sinus pressure. I can still feel the pain in my head, but it is not a migraine! Thank goodness! The other thing I couldn't do yesterday was lie down. No matter what kind of pillow, it felt like I was resting on the corner of a 2 x 4. I think I know what you mean about warming hands but I don't think I have the mindset to be able to do it.

Stella, it does take concentration and time to learn it, and the ability to relax a certain area of the head, face area between the mandible joint ( jaw) and your ear and your temple.

do you clench your teeth when in pain? Are your hands and/or feet cold when you have a migraine or even most of the time?

this blood flow is under the autonomic nervous system, it is done automatically without us having to think about it, but we can TELL it. It is sort of like a manual over ride switch you gotta throw!

First and most important, you must believe you can do it! Then find a comfy spot, sitting or lying, (I did it first in bed before going to sleep), and spend 10 minutes or so on the exercise every day, till you learn it.

Close your eyes, relax your jaw, and get your shoulders down from up around your ears, where tension has taken them! then you must say or think to yourself, I want my hands to get warm, and relax more and more. someone just touching your hand can tell you if there is a difference in skin temp, since we do not have a skin temp monitor like they had in the research study I read about hehehe. Having some touch your hand (not hold it, that might warm your hand externally, not from within, and it is not the same) and tell you if there is a warming, this lets you know you are doing it correctly. that is the biofeedback part.

At first success in changing temp, you will find your temp in hands will go up a bit and back down and up and back down as you loose the concentration. I can now feel a tingle, almost a flush feeling in my hands and tell myself I am successful.

At first it took ,=me 15 or 20 min of real concentration to begin to feel it, but with practice, I got so that I could do the entire exercise, get hands warm in seconds and get relief in 5 min. Once you learn it, seems to stay with you. I had not had a migraine in 20 years, till a couple months ago, and although it took me about 10 minutes to practice again, I can still do it.

A Really bad and full blown headache, one I could not have time to do this exercise till it was bad, I would first get my hands nice and warm, then add in my feet. Doing feet is harder, advanced thinking your hands warm heheh.

MizT, thanks for posting that here. I've just been catching up on the posts and was going to ask you to send it to me too. Now you don't have to. I suffer from migraines also. When the headaches are really bad, lying down feels worse. The best cure I have found is to sleep almost sitting up but sometimes sleep just isn't feasible. I shall attempt to remember your method next time I get one. I'm pretty good at relaxation techniques and this sounds similar so I shouldn't have to much trouble with it.

Hi Rena! Was just organizing and putting things in the gargage so that I know what I have and what I need to get. I keep getting txt messages from Brendan saying he forgot to pack something. But I must say, that his pile is a quarter the size of D#1's. I don't know how we are going to fit her stuff in the van on Sunday and she just mentioned that she is on the 8th floor!

I am off to the beach with daughter and niece. It's a hard job but somebody has to do it. I'll be back here later. Bye.
