I'm in good company then Nola as I have been lazy and haven't got my decorations up. I have put the door wreath on the door but that is as far as I have got.
Going to a funeral tomorrow, it's going to be a long day as we will have about 9 hours driving there and back.
Richard's first (late) wife's cousin's daughter committed suicide 2 weeks ago. She was only 23. Her parents are devistated and have asked if we would pick up and take one of the gandmothers to the funeral. Richard's step daughter Angela is going with us. Emily would have liked to have gone but the logistics of her getting there was impossible.

Good Maen everyone! Just talked to Tami, they're keeping her dad in the hospital for a bit longer than they thought. He had some minor setbacks over the weekend. She will give further updates soon. Please keep Bernie in your prayers. Thanks.

Suzanne, thanks for updating us on Bernie. Sending some SA vibes his way too.

June, Lions in our local area sponsor one child per school to go to the Outward Bound thingy for a 10 or 12 day couse. The course is supposed to build confidence and resilience, leadership skills etc etc. The kids have to come up with $375, parents are not allowed to pay, and the Lions Club pays the rest. I think it's about $1900 all up. When they get back they have to go to a dinner meeting and tell everyone about their experiences. I talked to a couple of girls who have been to those meetings and they say it made them want to go too. Ebob will hate the no phone part, I'm not sure how she'll cope without music, but the no showers, sleeping on the ground part will probably be fun for a youngun.

Still feeling really crumby. I got 1/2 hours nap this morning. It wasn't enough. To add insult to injury, it "snowed" last night and this morning. By "snow", I mean ice and slush and a light dusting of the white stuff on top. Very dangerous for driving.

They're doing beautifully. Like most parrots, they love to destroy stuff, so I bought them a selection of chew toys. They're having a blast.

Good to see you again eaa. Don't stay away so long next time.
Thanks for keeping my dad in your thoughts. They are keeping him because of his age. He was 81 in July. He smoked for about 65 years. His infection is mostly gone but his breathing is a bit shallow. They are keeping him until his breathing returns more to normal. He has emphysema.

I am here on a short break before I gotta fling food. Dylan's class is perfoming in a holiday show at school tonight. His class is using "choir chimes" Have a lot to do when we get home so I might not be back. I cannot post when I am at school so if anything major happens, I will call Suzanne and ask her to post for me. I have to call her anyways. She would kill me if I posted anything major before I told her.

Good morning lovely people. Well good and sad news here today.
Brenda - so sad about the suicide. Having close friends whose son suicided 15 years ago, I know the pain really never goes away.
Tami - good healing thoughts to your father.
Suzy - wonderful news about Ebob. What a proud Mum you must be.
Nola - my hubby and I seldom disagree either and when we do it is very distressing. Now get that Xmas tree up!!
Heidi - happy that you birds are doing well. Take care on those dangerous roads.
Lizzy - I hope you're feeling better soon.
Hi Suzanne, eaa and anyone I may have missed.

I'm starting to get into the festive spirit. We had the kids all here on Sunday night so we could do a Kris Kringle, that way everyone only has to worry about one present, rather than me having to do it all!
Chloe, Hannah and I went out yesterday to start the stocking shopping, we always give Santa a hand, I figure the guy has enough to do with all the other kids, so we do ours... Feels good to have made a start on it this early in December.
When we got home, Hannah put up the tree and decorated it, she has done it the last few years, mainly because I was so bah humbug, so she figured if she wanted a tree up, she'd best do it herself. It looks great, as it always does.

No way you could stop me talking Cyn! Surely you gathered that in Sydney.
I might even start wrapping ours soon, though I would rather be sure I have it all first, Still some fillers to buy, especially for hubby...I realised I didn't get anything for him!

That's the main reason I started now - to check that I have everyone (one missing) and enough stocking fillers for the grandies (no - need more). Sigh! Guess this means another shopping trip.

We treat our men as big kids these days.I buy Lego for my hubby and son (25). They enjoy it, and it's something they probably wouldn't get for themselves...besides, what do you get for someone who has everything, or could buy it for if they want it?

We now include my oldest daughter's fella in the stocking department, so he and my son are getting model planes and potato pellet guns, they'll have a ball! (Oh gosh, I hope they don't read this!)

My son-in-law is getting a new Esky for work. You should see his beloved old one - grubby and splitting - he's a carpenter so it sits around building sites a lot.
Colin can buy for himself if he can't give me any clues soon. I've dragged him around the shops hoping he'd pick a few things out but, same problem Gail - he has everything and gets what he wants when he wants it.
I, on the other hand have given him a list from which he can select an item or two but I hope they're still in stock on Xmas Eve because, as we all know - men do all their shopping then!

Back from checking out the kids in their finery and seeing how they chose to arrive. Some came in a fire engine, stretch limos, porches, motor bikes, classic cars, and a bright pink stretch hummer - which cost $3000 to hire..... gasp. It was amazing though and about a dozen kids split the cost between them. The traffic was insane! The firies ended up directing traffic so that someone got to move.
