Just handed over another porcelain doll to a new home. We are slowly clearing out the attic and freecycling anything which is too good to take to the tip, but wouldn't sell on ebay.
Husband has just sold a 12 string guitar which he bought in the 70's and never managed to learn to play and he got a decwent price for it too!

Ah yes, boys and their guitars! My hubby had an acoustic floating around the house for years. Can't remember where it ended up but he never learnt to play it. Now he has an electric guitar...still hasn't learnt how to play the silly thing!
Ah boys!
Night all.

One guitar? You lucky buggers! I've got to find space for a 2 six strings, a 12 string, and the kid size guitars we just had to have that never got used...

Good Maen Sudokuland!
I am having coffee, will you join me?
Sun is back today, looks lovely out. Kitty wanted out, till I opened the door and that cold air hit her nose. She did the "I think I will wait till later" turn and settled down in a sunny spot in the kitchen.

Good morning all! The big storm on the coast missed us. I think our cold air kept it to the east.
MizT, do you have any snow left? I heard the Carolinas are still getting hit.

Yesterday I said there was one more kitty in the snow story and here it is.
Screech kept asking to go out, but when snow was blowing, she would not make it out the door. Snow would hit her nose and back inside she was. After snow stopped falling she got to the back porch. I watched her as she walked to first one edge, and stepped into the slush that was around the edge. She would stop, shake her paw, try again, and shake again. Then she would turn for another edge of porch. Always run into the slush, stop and shake. She at last found a dry spot in the middle of the porch and settled down for a bit, fluffed up her fur to keep warm, tucked in her paws under herself.
I got busy in the kitchen and forgot about her for a while. When I next walked past the sliding glass door, I saw her out in the yard in a bare of snow spot under the car. She saw me, and started toward me with that "let me back in" look. I opened the door an inch and called to her. She found some bare spots to make it to the ramp, jumped up into 3 inches of snow, and did NOT like it. Ever seen a kitty try to lift all 4 paws off the snow at one time? She was near a post of the hand rail, and decides to climb up that to the rail, only to find the rail was also snow covered! Back down, I am calling her, encouraging her to trek across the 6 feet of snow covered ramp to the porch. NOPE, she goes the other way, down, which is further, and finds the bare ground between ramp and house. Walks along that till the exact same spot she was on the ramp, just the other side of it, and jumps back up. This time she braves the snow and makes the porch and came inside. Perched on the back of Al's recliner, she washed and warmed her paws for the next hour!
When I told this to my daughter, she replied, well, I would not want to be walking in the snow barefoot hehehe, me either.

The pastor from my church who retired 12 years ago, died on Friday. I'm going to his funeral today. We were very fond of him and he did a lot for my kids' school. Even though he was frail back then and had trouble with stairs, he always went to all of the classrooms to give the kids their report cards every quarter. The school back then didn't have an elevator. When he retired, he donated all of his money and the gifts he got for his retirement to the school to help it with the renovations.

Stella, only tiny bits of scattered snow about to remind us we did have snow. Spots on the north side of things, shady spots, might have saucer sized clumps of snow. It is pretty much gone. Temps in the afternoon reached mid 40's with sun, so as you can imagine the thaw was fast.

Are you bragging or complaining the snow missed you, Stella? They said some spots up your way were in for 12, 13 or 14 inches of snow.

When we go skiing at Smuggler's Notch, there is an outdoor heated pool. The kids swim in the pool, get out and make snow angels in the snow and then jump back in the water. I never understood how they could run and lie in the snow with their bare skin! Brrrrr!

Our kitties entertain us a lot. Maybe we are just easily entertained. Snow is such a rarity, the kitties do not know how to deal with it. They might have seen snow 3 times in their lives. Two I am sure of, cause one was just last winter, less than we had this year, but a dusting on the grass and buildings.

When I had our hot tub, I loved to go out when it was really cold. I over heat in the hot tub, usually cannot stay in it long. On a cold day, I would just sit up on the edge and my body would steam. I was soo very warm, I did not even feel the cold. I imagine your kids, it is somewhat the same.

I have mixed feelings about the snow. If it's not going to snow, then I want what we do have to melt so we can see the ground and spring can come. If it's going to stay this cold, I'd rather have the snow because it makes it seem a little warmer! Bryana is near Boston and they are supposed to get a foot of snow. They've had 200% of their normal snow fall!!

Do they discontinue classes for that much snow at Bryana's school? Or do they manage to clear all the walks so they can still get to class?

That's a good question. I don't know. The majority of students are boarders, but there are some who commute. The freshmen dorms are across the street next to the athletic fields. It might be a trek for them in the snow. Bryana's dorm is right next to the main building so she only has a few feet to walk. The teachers all live on campus. Maybe they delay the start to let the comuters get there. I'll have to ask Bryana.

How like a boy, any excuse to miss school. OK, some girls also, but generally think this of boys, whether true or not.
