Midge, Alie already has something she is very very good at. when I'm on my computer I will share a link.
sorry your son has such a long time to get well.
Vicki, I hope your son is coping okay. Ebay might be a way to get most of the money back on the ring.

Alie's second day went well. She is working on a paying project and if he is telling fibs to improve her confidence, work experience kids don't usually get to do that until late in the second week.

Morning friends, will someone do a quick check on me to see if I am growing roots, sprouting mold? It is raining, again! Has rained off and on, more on than not, since Sunday about noon.
Don't think I told you, if I did skip on by, but Sunday afternoon we got a really heavy, localized t storm. Flash flood, water from the street behind and above us down through the garden, across the patio and into the first floor of EP1. That is building one, where the Commons area is, the beauty shop, library, kitchen, chapel, everything is. I had slept through the worse of the rain, although I did hear the thunder occasionally. First I knew of the flood was when I went to cose blinds before going to bed, I saw 4 vehicles, all painted with advertisements on side. there were two vans and two pick up trucks. Huuumm, what is going on? I watched the vans dislodge big corrugated hoses, then machines inside cranked up noisily. Ahhhh, water removal, we had been flooded again. Must have been several flash floods, cause 11 pm was the soonest they could get to us.
First time this has happened since I have lived here, but long term residences say it happens. One said she remembers 4 times in her 7 years here, so about every couple of years?
The front door to building is really 2 different doors at right angles to each other. they make a small foyer where the house phone is, for gaining admission when the office is closed. Both doors are automatic sliding doors. With the hose going in the door, they would start closed, then hit the hose and bounce open again, and they were not in sync. First one opened, then the other. What I do see from my window, am I easily entertained or what? hehehe
Monday all activities usually in Commons or other rooms were moved up to the Jackel Community Room here on my hall. the podiatrist set up there, he usually uses the beauty shop. Lunches that are brought in from a full service retirement facility that serves 3 meals a day, were served from there, that is usually from the kitchen. An activity scheduled for Commons was moved up here in the afternoon, a nurse from a home health care talking on grief. So a busy day on my hall yesterday.
Friends said there were no more puddles downstairs by Monday afternoon, but there were fans, big ones, everywhere trying to dry out things. Some of the staff was seen bringing out wet papers from their offices, Gary from Maintenance had the big cart making trips to the dumpsters, their shop room is right at ground level, so I am sure he had things from shop that were soaked.
So, my little water problem was not addressed yesterday. I also heard from another resident in my building who had water from her AC, she is on other side of the building up on fifth floor, that is now 3 I know for sure. What is happening with the AC units? My water has stopped, dried, in the area first affected, the left side of the window. Now it is under the window, under my AC unit and to the right of it. In other wo

In other words, the other half of that outside wall, bummer.
I did read, but forgot what I read. Meds are making me groggy this morning, the dull grey day and the damp is adding to my lack of energy, I might have to go climb under covers and dose in front of the TV. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later. Perhaps I can comment on your posts then.

Back home again. I now have a permanent tooth where that temporary was. I've talked to the RV dealership about the RV's problems, and they've scheduled it for the beginning of next week. And I've started on antibiotics for the staph infection on my face that I picked up in Florida. Now for a nap. I earned it.

It is almost 2 pm and as dark as after sunset outside. Another big t storm is just north of us, how it has missed us this long is a puzzle to me. OH, knew it could not continue to miss us for long hehe, as Heidi says, the sky opened up and rain came down. I do hope our building is not gonna flood again. Meetings and lunch and everything continues to be held up here, in the much smaller Community Room here.

My get-up-and-go has got-up-and-went! I don't seem to have any energy today.
Suzy, hope Alie enjoys her time with the blacksmith. I would love to do something like that.
We have an appraisal scheduled on our property for Monday morning, so I sure hope some energy finds its way back.

Hi, Everyone! Just a quick visit tonight.
Theresa, Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby!
Heidi, I hope all went well with your new permanent tooth. How awful that you got a staph infection as a souvenir of your Florida trip. Hopefully the RV doesn't have a major issue.
Midge, does it make sense to say that I'm glad your S#3 just has a particularly nasty pneumonia - and NOT legionella?
Broni, we're glad to see you whenever you have the time to visits!
Suzy, good for Alie! I'm glad to hear that she's enjoying the work experience. I hope your classes this week are filled with good students with good attitudes!
MizT, I hope your weather improves, and someone will be able to address the problem of water below your AC.
June, your cold, but sunny, weather sound rather pleasant. How cold is it?
Just a heads-up for everyone: the next week to 10 days looks very busy. My computer time may be greatly reduced. I'll be thinking of everyone and sending positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and
for everyone. In the meantime, please take care!

Evening all,
MizT, the floods sound very disruptive! I think it's far better to be entertained by doors opening and closing on hoses, than arguing over who saw what, when as you described happened before the visitor the other day.
Tami, how did your annual check go? I hope you got an all clear.
Heidi, of all the things you could have brought home from Florida you choose an infection?
June, I've been thinking about you a lot lately, maybe because I don't see you as much in here and I wonder what you're up to. I hope all is good.
Julie, you've done it again. If you're going to be too busy to be around much for 10 days, your life must be much more interesting than mine. If you don't have time to read I'd love it if you spent a minute letting me live vicariously through you... Though of course if you don't have time to read you won't see my message....
Midge, I think my hubby is more understanding than I am. He doesn't fit the stereotype at all.
Viv, I hope you had a good order month!

My day... I was filling in for the head teacher, science. Man is he lazy. Year 9 are studying plate tectonics and he found a powerpoint presentation for me to show them. It was like starting in the middle!! Sucks big time that I have to put them through that. It wasn't even a good presentation for the middle! He obviously got it from somewhere and thought - that will do.
I'm filling in for another 2 days but he only has one class on each of those days so who knows what I'll be given for the other periods.
Alie's surgery is tomorrow afternoon. She's going to work in the morning, come home for a shower - and she will need it - then go off to the hospital.
Hubby will take her, I'll get there probably just after they take her back.

Suzy, hope all goes well for Alie's eye operation tomorrow.
I have been reading the comments but trying to get lots done before we leave for our trip in 18 days time. I have also been busy at bowls and doing lots of ironing and some sewing.
The cold change that came through also meant that lots of my joints ached, especially my hands.
It will be two years on Sunday so lots of memories going around in my head. I really cannot comprehend that it has been two years.

IH was thrilled with the gift I brought back from Florida for him. I got him a jar of Moonshine Jelly, with actual moonshine in it. He wants me to get more when I return in a few weeks. He wants to use it for prizes at his family's annual golf tournament in September. They're all big on anything with alcohol.

Hello to everyone!
Suzy, I will keep Alie in my thoughts.
Heidi, there are a lot nicer things you could have brought back from Florida ... like Tami. She wouldn't cause you any pain!
Two years already, June! It's hard to believe. How is Laura coping? I'm all too familiar with the arthritis achies ... hope they stay away during your trip.
So Tami, you're good to go for another year. I love good news.
Julie, slow down, you're making me tired! How about I squeeze in an extra nap for you?
It's a nice coolish day today (20C), so I am off to get some outside stuff done. Wish me luck.

Cyn...we have (should say Greg has) cut down many trees, some for the same reason as you. Others because palm trees drop big fronds and seeds making mowing a hazard. Before long,we have a trailer full of green waste which costs about $6 to dump at the tip.Not allowed to burn waste either.
Great news about Col getting an answer to his medical probs and not needing meds.
Suzy...how is Alie after the op?

It is 11 deg outside, which is a bit of a shock when
winter has been very mild. We have resisted putting the heater on and have resorted to using blankets to
keep warm while watching TV.
We weren't impressed with our last electricity bill so solar power is very appealing.
Must clean up a bit as have visitors coming at 10am.

June - you, Ken and the family have been in my thoughts too. Two years!
Next month it will be 2 years since we lost my Mum and 3 years since we lost Col's Mum. Last weekend was 3 yrs since we lost Aunty Vi. I miss them all.
Nola - I'll commiserate with your 11c temps, we've been having them too! Just not regular Qld weather!
