Hello Everyone, I've only just discovered these pages. I wish they had come with a warning "Danger - Addictive, hazardous to productivity". I started with the Sudoku and then found the jigsaw puzzles. It's a lot easier to do jigsaw puzzles which the cats can't help with!

There’s lots to do around here, places to visit and chat. I'm just around the corner; stop in anytime for more pie and a video.

Hi there Bev.... to sudokuland...I and everybody in SA6 [sudokuaholics anonymous 6- look in forums under 'Off Topic'] are in total agreement with you. The puzzles are fun but even better are the forums, chat rooms and going visiting. It is great to go visiting and make new friends - I have learnt so much about our world through this site. ENJOY....

Hello and Welcome, Bev! Yes, the pages ARE addictive!

On the easy puzzle today, you asked about Good mAen. John answered you a couple of comments later, but you may not have seen it. Since he explained it so well, I have copied it and pasted it here (I hope).

John From Knoxville, Tennessee
Good maEn Bev,

Since this is a global community, Good (Maen, mAen, maEn, and maeN) is shorthand for Good Morning, Afternoon, Evening, or Night. Thus, everyone is greeted properly. The current time period from the writer's perspective is capitalized.

Oh, by the way, did you know you can answer someone's question/visit someone else's page just by clicking on the "Check out my page" after their name? I hope to see you again soon.

Hello Bev, and a belated welcome to your own page. It's always nice to see another Canadian posting on this site. Enjoy my traditional page warming gift, a double chocolate fudge beavertail pastry from Ottawa. Cheers, and

Hello, Bev, and I, too, say welcome to the Land of Serious Addiction! I just had a small display of temper (which incorporated a certain amount of ranting and raving) when I could not get the internet to work, nor could I get my computer tech on the phone to ask him a question - and I needed my puzzle fix! I crawled about in the dust and cat hair examining 30 miles of assorted cords to discover an unplugged plug-in thing that, curiously, led to my modem! I feel so clever when I finally resort to common sense and fix something technical!!

I enjoyed your comments - I have a friend in Calgary, and I do intend to go visit her one fine day in the reasonable future, and would love to travel through Canada! My husband (deceased) and I had always wanted to go to Banf (hope I spelled that correctly - I can't go back to the puzzle page to check without losing my message) and we have enjoyed camping in the Eastern portion of Canada.

Again, welcome to this great site - our Webmaster, Gath, does a fine job keeping it going!

Thanks for the tour bus suggestion, Bev! I am getting itchy to travel more in North America. Perhaps when I visit family in Seattle I can just head north to Vancouver, then eastward through Canada.

Hi Bev. Just saw your comment on the jigsaw page & answered it there but thought I'd paste it here as well because you may not get back to that page! Sorry I haven't been to visit before!
It's an annual event. I submitted them last year in Nov after I'd been to see it. I resubmitted them in Oct this year because none had appeared, but I forgot to put Sulpture'07 on them & my name! I haven't submitted this year's photos yet! There's over 100 sculptures & some of them are very big, but they are brought in & taken out for a showing of not quite 3 weeks! It started in 1997 for one day & only a few sculptures; it has grown since!!! I haven't done the kids one's yet -probably have to wait till tomorrow now - have to go to tennis!

Hello Bev - I just saw your comment to me on the jigsaw puzzle so thought I'd visit your page to answer you.
Yes, I did the grey pieces before there was a picture. As it was only a medium puzzle it really wasn't too hard.
Cheers

Hi Bev - how many cats do you have? I love seeing their pictures. I have 8 cats right now, but I do volunteer work at a cat rescue/sanctuary. There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not laughing at some sort of silly antic. We lost our oldest cat (18 and a half) last week.

Bev, thanks for introducing Tinka to us! She's a beauty! I have two ageing cats; a black & white cat named Tuxedo (15.5) and a silver gray tabby, Nigel (11.5). Nigel is diabetic and I give him an insulin shot each morning. It's always a race to give him his injection before the new Sudoku day starts!

Hi Bev! I've just read your comment on the page where my kiddo is climbing on historic 'unsafe' playground equipment in Blackheath ... there was an intriguing study done recently in Australia that demonstrated that too safe playgrounds actually increased the risk of injuries because children made them challenging by using them in ways that were not intended!

Hi Bev. Somehow I have missed you in previous posts during the past two years! Just today I noticed your cat photo & comment about mammals. Hope you will list the 6 things tomorrow. I even googled to find out, but couldn't come up with 5 things that showed up in the photo. I am very curious.

Hello Bev - I just saw your comment on the jigsaws so thought I'd reply on your page. I would never have taken a photo of the new entertaintment centre only I was near there with three of my grandchildren and took photos of them. I probably shouldn't have vented like I did but some things like that annoy me. It's all a case of who you are or who you know, and anything is possible. I believe in progress but the right kind in the right place and that's building is neither. We have a local council who seem to spend all their time arguing so this particular project was taken out of their hands and that's what we ended up with.
I do hope all is well with you and yours and you're not getting too much snow or cold weather.
Kind regards,
Anne

8/4/13 Bev, this is about the picture of your adorable cat. OUCH! At least, we all now know how your spent ($) your summer vacation!! Hope he heals well. Though, I've never had a cat break a bone, I do know that small dogs break bones every now and then and heal fast. At first there is a limp but with time and a little TLC, they are good as new. Too bad our checking accounts don't recover so fast!

I'm with you on the darned jigsaw for the easy. I'm 75 and do all kinds of puzzles to keep my brain working. My Mom is 101 & Dad died last year just shy of 100. I want to stay sharp. I live in beautiful Oaxaca de Juarez in Mexico - no need for heat or air conditioning. The weather is gorgeous year round!

Bev... Didn't you know that the challenge for the 'easy' jigsaws is to see how/if you handle frustration! I love the jigsaws as well and have found it my challenge to get most of the 'important parts' of the puzzle into a solid form without getting an 'unneeded' outer puzzle piece that makes it impossible! What else can I say!!!

This is copy & paste message about the Sudoku Easy Jigsaw Problems:
They went wild after one of Gath's changes. If you go back in the beginning (15th May 2005) & check the photos in the archives you'll find that the only jigsaw is the torso in the black jumper with the white coffee cup, you'll find that photo as the jigsaw on every Easy Sudoku page up till the 12th of January this year. I did comment on this earlier this year, but I'm usually commenting when no one's around!!!
I'd say the photos we're getting are the ones from the Easy pages that don't have a home any more! And the off sized ones are possibly the very early reward photos for finishing the Sudoku!
So I think we just have to accept that the Easy Sudoku jigsaw is going to too big or very small, more frequently than being a good size!!

Hi Bev! I answered your question on the med JS page, but thought you may not go back to it! So here it is again! (sorry it's a a bit long winded!!)
It's an ''Artist's Walk'' along the foreshores of Sydney Harbour from North Sydney to Lavender Bay! The Artists themselves don't walk (unless they need a break!!). Their easels are dotted along the walk & they're painting harbour views or whatever, The musicians are a moving band along the foreshore & there are mimers, clowns, face painters - just a fun day!!

That bee picture is amazing. Wish my husband could see good enough to appreciate it. Bless his heart, he tries, but at this point he can no longer drive at all and I don't really trust him to go out to walk alone unless he is just going to walk around our block. His hearing is amazing but at 88, I just want to take care of him!
