Many sudoku friends from around the world coming to visit me and wishing me a Happy Birthday have overwhelmed me.
My Husband and sons took me out to dinner to a Chinese Restaurant, and on the Sunday, we had a delicious Roast Dinner at MIL’s.

Learning to use this pages thing. SLC is Salt Lake City. Came with the Air Force, but got married, had a boy and stayed for a while. So...not too far. Yes, Steelers. Went to one of the indoor football games here, and had a blast. The BLAZE---whew! different rules and smaller field. But still fun

You're right about the ride, it was quite wild they dragged you up to the top (where they took your photo) before they dropped you then took you back up and dropped you. It was soooo scary we went on it twice!!

Hi Aimee - I remember when my oldest son, Scott left for Pittsburg to go to the Art School! I missed him so much and I still had four children at home! Each child is so different and they all are so special. Try to stay busy and don't snack all the time! (I gained 7 pounds that year!) Try not to call her too often and always be upbeat on the phone. (You can cry when you hang up!) I call this growing pains for all involved! Sometimes it isn't easy being a mom, but you will survive. I have a large shoulder and a good listening ear.

Aimee, many thanks for your birthday greetings. I'm sorry it has taken me a few days to respond but life has been fairly busy around here lately and I am up to my eyeballs in it. It will settle down soon, but today I am joining one of my sons and his sister to help him to celebrate his birthday. So, thanks for thinking of me, it was much appreciated.

Hi Aimee! Glad you found your way to my Page & my YouTube & enjoyed it. I love heartwarming stories like that make us feel good about the world. There always seem to be so many more sad stories in the news than happy ones! Your greeting on your page is lovely & you are, too! I love your hair color & cut!! I have three grown up daughters, one named Amy & one named Kyley - very similar to the names in your family. Maybe you've seen my family pictures in Flickr? I'm lots older than you (61), but try to stay active & young at heart so I can enjoy the fun of being a grandma to seven beautiful grandchildren. So you are facing a slightly emptier nest now, I believe, while your oldest heads off to college. Don't worry, you'll adjust in time, just like when she first came to live with you!! Our human nests are funny - I've come to realize that there are varying numbers of baby birds flying in & out of them all throughout our lives. At some point in your life you may even learn to enjoy just being a twosome sometimes!!

Aimee - glad to see your post & the family reunion 100th Birthday Party Photo. I see your great aunt is in a wheel chair, hopefully she still has all her faculties. Has she ever written an autobiography?

The reason I ask, is that my grandfather's sister (lived to be 107) in her 80's wrote her life's story, it was really a story of the family and included information that her mother and father had passed down to her (she was the youngest of 10 children). My grandmother's brother (also from a family of 10 children) had written an autobiography (in bits, starts & pieces)that his son gave me.

These two documents along with my Uncle's autobiography (written in his 60s) and having my Dad fill in WWII (he & his twin were together during the Battle of the Bulge) & topped off my my auto-biography (childhood and the family gatherings and general life of our generation) were put together with over 200 photos copies of documents & charts into a 140 page document sub-titled "Those Stubborn Bull-headed Norwegians".

The final document was my gift to my cousins and their off-spring for the millennium - I have no children, but think it is important that we understand what our forefathers went through, the good and the bad times - what their lives were like: they/we were/are just everyday people, no one famous, making it through life in America. There was 150 years of family history on my father's side. I asked my cousins & their children to add their stories to the document for their children. Some of the second cousins requested copies of the document - while only the first 40 pages would be their forebearers.

So, as you can see, getting a 100 years of family history from one person is a blessing. If you can get her story written or recorded - do it while you can otherwise it is lost forever. She probably has photos that she can tell you who are in them & how they are related & stories to go with them. It may be a bit of work - but well worth the effort.

BTW: I added his dog stories into my Uncle's autobiography - it makes for a hilarious read that children will enjoy. The photos were added to the text when different people are mentioned.

Another BTW - In researching my mother's family (the other document is my father's family), I came across (on the internet) Daniel Braught's autobiography. He also no one of importance - other than we share the same mitochondrial DNA - his mother was my great-great-great-grand mother. It was written about 150 years ago. While wills & letters can give you some idea of their lives, biographies and especially autobiographies give a much clearer picture of the life and times.

Such a shame, I had the same thing happen to me one time when visiting a great aunt. After I left, she remembered who I was and my mother and her sister (my grand-mother). Her care giver told me the following day, I was the first person who had visited her in several years (I was all of 19 at the time). She membered me and talked about her sister and my mother to the nurse for several hours then finally fell asleep. She was in a comma when I returned, and died several months later in the home where I visited her in Louisiana. I'm glad the last memories she had were of people who loved and cared about her.

No baby yet! BUT, I think things are starting to happen (about time ). Our doc wants to induce next week, so I'm really hoping the little one decides to appear on his own soon. Besides, if he takes much longer, I really think there's a chance I might explode!

Aimee - I have 2 lovely step daughters (25 & 27) who live about 2 hours away from us. I'm so glad when they take the time from their busy lives to come visit us...they are great girls.
I think it's great that Chelsea is just far enough away to feel out on her own, but close enough to come home easily! I was about 2 hours away from home when I went off to college.

thank you for the birthday wishes. i had the best birthday eve ever! college is around the corner for my oldest son. he told me he was going to live at home during those years. i said no your not!! you gotta leave the nest to really discover all your potential and gifts. he looked a little shocked that i would kick him out on the basis of such a lame reason! poor kid.

Hi, Aimee! Thanks for your kind remarks, but at 67 (as of later this week), I don't feel like a "hottie" any more!!! In fact, the first time someone referred to me as "ma'am" was when I realized I had crossed that invisible line!!! But you're right - I do like to have a good time and always try to draw other people into my silliness!

I added the Vibrant because my Sudokuland twin (Viv) (the twin thing is just a jock that came from people mixing up our names) added Vivacious to her name. I just had to match her with something! Jane picked out Vibrant when I was searching for an adjective. Just thought I'd explain it - seems kind of puffed up without an explanation Hugs to you!

Good news!... Baby Thomas finally arrived. He's a very good baby, and we love him to pieces. He was born over a week late, Aug. 26, at 8lb.2oz. and 22.5 inches. We are all well and happy (though tired). I've put up a few pictures on my page.

No "partying" that's not really my style, but the whole trip was my birthday present, and I did have a great time. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I, too, love the ocean. Strange, because I don't enjoy sand in my clothes, sunburn, and usually stay off the beach, but like the sound of the surf and like to look at it from a distance.
