Back at Christmas time I posted the news that grandson Chase was going to become a big brother in July.  I am happy to announce that his baby sister Maddox Ann Martin was born at 6:09 P.M. on July 27, 2015.  She weighed 9 pounds and measured 21 1/4 inches long.  We are thrilled to have a third granddaughter (the others are 19 and 16!) and six grandsons and feel very blessed.

Kathy, I had submitted my license application in Dec 2010- Jan 2011. It was complete except for a supervising physician's signiture. You know the saga of me looking for employment. The Kansas Board of Healing Arts would not review my application until I had a supervising physician's signature. I had some concerns, since I answered honestly if asked if I had ever been let go of a job. I had, a couple of times. One time it was because of temper related issues...trouble with Jim, with James (8 and ADHD), and the office hiring people who did not have the skills they probably should have. I got frustrated. No problem with my medical skills. The other time was following a strike, an they found reasons to let several people who had participated in the strike go. They didn't outright fire them, but they made their life at work miserable and difficult. They also asked me why it had taken so long to complete my packet!!!!! I let them know that they could have reviewed the packet anytime, which was only missing the signature and could have easily been reviewed with out the signature. Also, they wanted to know what I had done to keep my skills current. I sent them a list of the CME that I had completed to maintain my NCCPA certification. It has been over a month so far, and will be at least another week, if not two or more. I am frustrated, the people where I am going to go to work are frustrated, but they still want me to work for them.

Hi Kathy. Sorry I didn't hang around this morning on line. We live on a farm about 20 minutes north east of Launceston. I love to travel too, but have never made it to your part of the world. Can't wait for hubby to retire so that we can just go. We haven't been out of Tassie together since 1994!

Thanks for checking out the daffs, Kathy. I really love my garden and the wildlife that live in and around it. My camera's nothing special, but it does the job.

Thanks for visiting & commenting on my photos, Kathy!

I like the sunset one too!!

The fringed lily is a native flower & that one was photographed in the back yard of the river house - with a few others, just popping up by themselves! They should be flowering again soon!!

Congratulations on your next grand child.
Pleased you had a wonderful trip. Our first trip to Russia was by ourselves with just us and a tour guide and driver. It was wonderful as we had time to also explore by ourselves. We just went to St Petersberg and Moscow. A couple of years later we did the Baltic Cruise so had another visit to St Petersberg. Saw things we missed the first time. We loved it.

Maybe I'm misreading your meaning, but both your comment under my puppy picture and your comment I'm answering right now that you put on my page came to me as emails as well. Double check that you still have the Alert Me box (just above Manage Avatars) checked on your Update Details page.

Hi Kathy, I've posted a couple of Spotted tail quoll pictures in my gallery. This one turned up out of the blue one summer's day. The Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife people said it is a young female. I'm sorry one photo is blurry but there wasn't much chance to get a good shot.
Cheers, Sacky

Hi Kathy.re Quolls. There are 2 types of quoll in Tasmania. The Spotted tailed one is larger and apparently can grow to about 7 kg. and is now quite rare. They eat mammals and birds- small possums, rabbits, pademelons, mice etc. I guess if you were careless enough to leave a puppy or kitten around they would be added to the menu. You rarely see them because they are nocturnal and they avoid people if they can. This one was moving through our place looking for some territory to claim. We have a lot of birds in and around our yard and they would have provided some food as well as Sydney. The hole he used to get into Sydney's cage was very small so hen pens need to be very secure.
Hope this ramble helps!

Not a problem Kathy. As all Australian mammals are marsupials I just take it for granted and forgot to mention it. There are 2 exceptions and they are the monotremes - platypus and echidna. They are mammals that lay eggs and then feed their young on milk.

Hi Kathy. Yes my dog went for a swim with the ducklings. He could never catch them in water, but if they did one of their cross country runs they would have had no hope. He was actually trailing 2 rabbits whose scent crossed the ducklings. He is not allowed out our back gate unless I am with him just to keep all the baby wild water birds safe. There are also black mountain ducklings and native hen chicks in the same area.
I will put a picture of the adult mountain ducks and native hens on my page. The young of both have been too elusive to photograph although I have seen them. I'll let you know when I have posted them.

Hi Kathy, no cardinals or bluejays. Will have to research them. Peter also checks in on the birds, but comments on the main page. I would really like some hummingbirds, but they're not in oz either. When the ducklings have finished growing and gone, I thought I might put a page up of the birds I have pics of in my garden. I will take the non-duckling photos down in a few days, because the gallery gets too confusing.

A thousand congratulations, Kathy, on your cheery news! I'm sure you're gladly anticipating a little one to cuddle and spoil. Yippee!
Any exciting travel planned? We did the Royal Clipper this summer to celebrate our thirtieth--loved Venice, Dubrovnik and Taormina. Next year, it's the Wind Surf to Scandinavia (and perhaps bathroom renovations ... let it go better than the kitchen!) Take care and let's visit more often.

Kathy the campanula was given to me as a cutting about 20 years ago. Last year we began a major garden revamp and I had to move it to a small patch I've left for perennials. It is now thriving.

Kate, I studied horticulture part time for a few years. They kept changing the course so working and studying with shifting goal posts didn't work. My Dad was a great gardener and he helped us get started. I think I got the gardening genes from him. Mr. Google and asking questions does the rest.

Hi, Kathy. I miss our emails. I should be able to get back to 'normal' somewhat soon unless something else happens? Small world. I was born in Cleveland. My parents lived in Parma before moving to suburban Detroit when I was two.

Hi Kathy, nice to hear from you. Did Sandy have effect down your way? I haven't posted lately as I've had a few days visiting rellies south of Hobart. As soon as I got home yesterday I checked them out. All 7 alive and well. I'll put their pics up later today when I get back from my swimming lesson.

Re ducklings: Parents are both still there, Kathy, keeping a close watch on the brood. I can't tell if the banding indicates gender yet, but it well might. Some look as though there may be a white ring developing around the eye (female), but I can't tie the two together yet.

Hi Kathy. re ducklings:Could be neck ring associated with eye ring I don't know. Hopefully we will find out soon. I hope I get pics of them back on the dam, cos they don't stand still on land long enough to get a good sot.

Hi Kathy. Re calf names: Wouldn't dare name them, because unfortunately they will both be sold. A name gives an attachment which I can't afford to have. We just try to give them the best life while we have them in our keeping.

I'm hoping to learn something from my latest project. It will be much quicker than the ducklings. From the time of hatching to fledging the fantails take about a week. I am going to New Zealand in a couple of week'stime and I'm hoping she can do the business before I go. I did try a pic awhile ago when he was off the nest, but she came back and I had to rush. The result is blurred nest with 2 eggs. I'll try later if she's off again.

Hi Kathy. I hope the acupuncture works for you. I have needles when I go to physiotherapy most weeks. I think it's related to acupuncture in principle and it really helps my back muscles relax. Sore backs limit so much what you can do, so good luck with the treatment and I'd love to hear how you get on.

Hi Kathy, I did a bit of research and his site might help.
http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=13439
I measured then diameter of the nest from the outside to outside and it's very close to 2' or 5cm. I found somewhere that said they fledge 2 weeks after hatching, but I thought it was much shorter than that. Hopefully I can find out.
