Congrats on the baby.

It has been a bit of an ordeal this year. But, as I remake the house into a home, I have amazed myself at how much I've accomplished and am pretty much on schedule - I'll be ready to decorate for Christmas, after I finish up the office (probably will start before - it is really finished). I had hoped to get the car in the garage by Thanksgiving - but the recycler won't be in this area until after TG. I hope that the SUV fits, since I still have a lot of stuff out there (downsizing isn't easy when you lose 2/3 of your storage space and a room). Of course most people wouldn't store all the boxes & packing materials, for their next move and it will be a real downsizing at that time, that someone else will probably be in charge of.

Everyone says I look so much better and have gotten my color back and my voice improved so much and still is - since the operation on the vocal chord (paralized open during the open heart surgery). Everyone was telling me not to talk, not to talk - for me that is very hard. I've never been known to be quiet. Before the throat surgery I had difficulty talking & breathing at the same time - occassionally still have to watch it. People worried about me driving 100 miles (200 round trip) - I did a couple of weeks ago - this trip will be 250 - 500 round trip. I don't see what the worry is. The doctors probably would have a fit, if they had seen me moving some of the boxes around over the last month - when no one is around - it leaves only you to do it. When it was impossible (in my view) I found someone to move them for me - or opened them in the garage and brought the contents into the house a little at a time. When I would over do it - I paid the price - mostly in my back - occassionaly in my breathing. Since most of the moving is done, I've gained a few pounds - lack of exercise.

thank you for the congratulations on new granddaughter. they live about an hour away so going thursday to see them. She my third granddaughter.

Those Fairy (renamed now as Little) penguins are amazing and very noisy. We stayed in a shack in Bicheno a few years ago and the penguins had burrows in the yard. We got a free viewing - fantastic!

Hi, Kathy. So you're a December baby also. Mine is 12/20. Like your family, we have (or had) lots of b-days in Dec. My uncle was 12/6, SIL Marilyn was 12/10, SIL Candy is 12/11, Grandma 12/17, me 12/20, Mark & Candy's anniversary 12/22 (1973 marriage), brother Greg 12/29 and best friend since 3rd grade (Pam) is 12/30. And that doesn't include other friends!

I hadn't heard of Fripp Island until reading one of your comments after the OSU victory so I looked it up. I take it you and Rob have a timeshare there so visit it often after visiting one of your girls. I also enjoy jigsaw puzzles.

Yes, December is busy with all the baking I need to get done before my niece comes up 12/16 from Dayton and then I'll also ship some 12/17 to my aunt in Houston (91 yo).

Thanks for your message on my page.
I have just been looking at the video on the elephant rescue. It was so realistic, I was in there pulling and puffing to get the little one out. It must have been very hard for the rescuers to be able to persuade Mum to go away while they got on with the job, as I believe elephants are VERY family oriented. So pleased that the video showed the reunion.

Kathy - I saw from your post on Dottie's page that I had managed to miss your birthday. I am really sad that I am not around regularly enough to catch many of the regulars' birthdays. Anyway, a belated Happy Birthday to you!!

Happy belated birthday wishes Kathy. I hope you had a lovely day! I have put a measurement pic for the nest on my page. Much more interesting to do than weeding the vegie patch, which I was about to do when the ipad let me know there was mail.

The birds may use that nest again soon. Sometimes they have 2 clutches and sometimes they don't. I'll pull it down before next spring though.

Hi Kathy. The ducks returned yesterday with an extra duck in tow. They'd been away 6 days, so I have no idea what they'll do in the future. The young ones were tired, because they were sleeping in the paddock while the adults kept watch.

Thanks Kathy for your concern about Ralph. He had a quiet week at home after his ~24hr hospital stay. He went up the river with Paul - rang a few hours ago to say he was back to his old self, collecting the ball & wanting it thrown, swimming in the river & napping on the verandah! They'll be back here soon!

Hi Kathy, you certainly have been busy and look like being busy well into the future. I prescribe a bit of a rest before you hit the ground running.Its great to have projects. I think my next project, apart from the ongoing work to reduce the maintenance on the garden, is to work on my photography. The garden has to be accomplished or we'll have to move. The latter is not the preferred option as we love it here. I'm going to investigate what's on offer by way of classes in photography and photo manipulation. The dog attack certainly spoiled Christmas, but it also means hubby gets to have a rest and that certainly wont hurt him!

Golly, have they grown! I remember how Sten and Asa were so kind to my grandie. They are all positively a stunning ad for the healthy life!

Hi, Kathy. Thanks for your note and belated b-day wishes. I know how hectic this time of year can be and you were with your grandchildren. It was actually the city of Strongsville, not Cleveland, that replaced my mailbox. It never would be done by Cleveland!

Kathy, thanks for your comment on my page. The wake and funeral for hugh was yesterday. There was a very large turnout, as Hugh had four children by his first marriage, and inherited two more with his second marriage to Isabelle. From all these children, Hugh had 15 grand children. I appreciate your thoughts, and by the way. the grandies you have on your page are a good looking bunch. Cheers! xx

Regarding your query on the Xanthorrhoea - it's finished flowering - probably last year's spear! Thy get very brown & rough. Seed pods appear where the flowers were.
