Just kidding. Love to regale my kids with tales of hte Dark Days when computer programmers at university could be i.d.'d by the shoe boxes under their arms with the punch cards containing their programs. Remember seeing an engineer crying in the computer lab and sympathetic cohorts helping pic up the cards ... worthless endeavor since they weren't numbered. Programmer had to start from scratch. Of course, kids can't conceive of this....

By the time I was using computer programs at university, there was memory in the mainframe. But I had to queue for time in the computer lab and as a business major, not the lab's top priority. Had to teach myself one of my courses because missed class the entire semester other than for exams in order to get "on" a computer.

Terry Terry Terry...
carrier = carrier
bag = bag
therefore, the bag carries, which I suppose is stating the bleedin' obvious as what else do bags do? it must not be used in the Ahmurikuhn vernacular - is it a pommie term or do Orstrayans use it too?
and i must apologise to you Terry, I didn't remember that you had written up on COTsilk rd, we really should have an index on here, somewhere, somehow...

Oh well. I'm over it now. No wonder Billy couldn't picture him as the rogue. Now, if he'll do work half as hilarious as Rupert Everett ("I Say a Little Prayer" from My Best Friend's Wedding is one of my fave movie scenes of all time)....

Speaking of The Rupert, he's another actor, a la Sandra Bullock, I'll pay the price of admission to watch just b/c I like him so darned much. What's he done that I've missed? Don't think I've seen him in anything since MBFW. Any recommendations?

OMG !!!!MBFW was 11 YEARS ago!!!!!!!!I too loved RE but he hasn't done anything as wonderful since then...lots of kid's movies, TV shows and second rate films.....what a pity.....
His 'by God, we'll have dancing' was the best line in the movie...

Rolanda, if I had had some sort of forewarning, I may not have screamed out so loudly, and the resultant explosion of popcorn from my neighbours may not have ended in such a disastrous fashion. That said ,by my spoiler alert, I too have colluded in the secrecy...what to do....what to do...

Mary - remind me not to sit next to you whilst watching a movie, screaming indeed...btw I refuse to read your spoiler, I don't want to ruin my equilibrium for the weekend (Equilibrium, in case you've missed it, is the best movie no one has ever seen).

Terry dahling please treat yourself to THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, if you're unfamiliar with the Oscar Wilde play, it may seem a tad contrived and terribly inane, but the humour tickles my funny bone as it's so very English what ho. AND you'll never guess who else is in it....

Oh yes, another one is An Ideal Husband:
Cate Blanchett
Minnie Driver
Rupert Everett
Julianne Moore
Jeremy Northam (rather dashing is he)
What a cast hey?? and it's another Wilde play, so if you absolutely loathe TIOBE - you'll hate this one too.

Saw IOBE. In fact, acted scenes in drama class in HS as did all others of my generation... thank goodness annual performance not that that year since I don't work well in English fare. Got to play Annie Sullivan and Anne Frank's mom, instead.

Mary, Are you saying it was merely Colins's CHARACTER which was gay? I thought with all the drah-mah and fanfare you surely were announcing the actor is gay.

So glad OW was/is required reading in the colonies, shame they didn't pick up on the art of tea making...I mean...Iced tea? what the hell is that?? i love cucumber sarnies though...
Rolanda - I don't watch tv unless i remember to tape top gear and spooks.
...and Mary, Equilibrium boring?? you must've got it mixed up with Equestrianium....
and talking about Christian Bale - Batman was osh gosh, I'm not a fan of Heath, but he was awe-inspiring as the Joker. Film was too long but I still enjoyed it. Make sure to go for a wee beforehand and don't take liquids in with you to sip on unless your bladder can hold for 3 hours (20mins is crap adverts).
