As you know, we are in summer, with temperatures in the 90's F. Our neighbor has a boat. She invited us to join them for a late afternoon/early evening boat ride, then dinner. It was quite relaxing, enjoyable and picturesque! I didn't get the computer turned on today until after 10:30 pm. It is now 12:02 am, and time for me to get some shut-eye. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day! (Did all your hanging plants enjoy their drink today?) Good night/day!

I'm ashamed to say Julie, that H and I have hardly moved all day. We both poked our heads outside at various times of the day to check the conditions. Every time I checked, it rained. H reckons each time he went outside, it got noticably colder so we thought, for the comfort of everyone, it would be better to find things to avoid doing indoors rather that pretend to look busy outside! Must go put on the rice so that it can cook then dry out for fried rice tonight. Check back later.
Sleep well, Julie.

Sunday morning here, beautiful beach day yesterday and today, sandwiched in between four days of rain on each side. The Chamber of Commerce must have had a hand in scheduling this weather.

It was a nice day here too Ian. A bit cooler today at 21c. It did get to 25c yesterday. Not bad for a winters day. Sorry about that Gail but you do live in Melbourne.
We had a party today for Laura as she will be 2 years tomorrow. Try entertaining six 2 year olds!

Gail , we lived in Melbourne from '63 to '74 and my son and family are there now so I do know what the weather can be like! March and April are generally great. The rest can be anything and usually is.

We come originally from SA but I have always had family here so I've known about the unpredictableness(is that even a word!) of the weather here. We also know all about the Sydney/Melbourne rivalry. As Sth Aussies, we too had a certain negative feeling toward Vics due to the footy rivalry. We even had a 'kick-a-Vic' promo going at one stage. Imagine our distress when we had to move here!!!

My family originally came from Victoria. Around the Ballarat area, going back to the 1850's. They came to Sydney about 1907 but there are still family members in the Ballarat/Bacchus Marsh area. Every city has its plus and minuses. I always found Melbourne easy to get around where Sydney always seems to have an inlet, a gulley or some thing to go around. Houses a couple of K away that I can see from the front of our house are 14k by road!

Yes, I have found that about Sydney myself. I have a sister who has lived in Sydney for over thirty years so have visited many times in the past. Navigating around Sydney is certainly an experience. Hubby and I used to drive over to Melbourne from Adelaide and stay with family for the weekend then drive back again. We have always had a soft spot for Melb and although we never invisaged leaving Adelaide, it was always where we said we could live if we had to.

Thje cat has just come inside which means it is telling me it is time to go to bed (she generally will not come in till we are all in bed, does not like being nursed, a peculiar cat at times) and we do have a busy day tomorrow. Take MIL out to lunch (she is 93) and the rock eistedford (with the 25 monk outfits)was a week ago and now I get 'we need 25 tank tops for some dance thing and we need them in two weeks'.
I even had to drive about 70k to her place to pick up the material as she has the flu. Guess i will have to start cutting them out, not to mention doing some cooking for the trading table at bowls on Tuesday. No wonder the time goes so much quicker as one gets older.

Fair enough June. Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate. Meant to let you know, I cooked up a batch of Flo's scones on Friday to go along with the Pumpking soup I made. All yummy. Sleep well. Must be my bedtime too then. Cheerio.

I haven't had much time lately to log on to SA lately.
We had to rush Callie to the vet on thursday as she decided it might be nice to eat a wasp.. the wasp has other ideas and stung her mouth. She needed a steroid injection as her mouth swelled up. Fortunately her tongue didn't so wasn't life threatening.

Oh Brenda, how frightening for you. I think that's the hardest thing about having pets, seeing them in pain or distressed in any way. How is she now?

I must put some more photos up on my site as she is changing daily. She is losing a lot of her white colouring and turning black, she will never be totally black but will be a lot darker that she was when we originally saw her

My oldest cat is looking a little worse for wear at the moment. It has been so cold and wet here, the cats are now allowed to sleep inside in the room with the slow combustion stove and every morning I have to pick up a pile of Scrap's hair. He pulls it out in great tufts!

Richard is my second husband and is step father to Elaine and Andrew. Emily is his natural child. We adopted her a few years back... it took about 3 years to go through the process

We still have the four in the photos but I'm not too sure how long we'll have Scrap with us. The weather seemed to hit him hard this year. Earlier in the year, I took him to the vet, certain that he would have to be put down because that morning he was staggering around and looking quite distressed. The vet was great and suggested we try him on a lifetime course of arthritis meds and honestly, two days later, you'would have thought he was a kitten the way he was running around, jumping up onto furniture and purring like mad. I know that he is on his last legs though because the injections aren't having as much effect each time.

That's amazing Brenda. When I was looking at the photos, I was flicking from one to another to try and work out who they could be and I felt that was the closest I could work it out. Sorry about the mistake but it is a remarkable likeness.

Good morning all! Yesterday(on Easy) was my last attempt at humor. It went over like a lead balloon. I should have known better though. I've only told one joke and that was to a table of Bishops at a lunch break when I was the attorney for the Conference of Bishops of New York State. I can still picture them sitting there over 20 years later! They were polite and laughed. The joke was:
What happened to the man who refused to pay the priest for his exorcism?
He was repossessed!

It isn't nice when you realise that you are going to lose a loved pet. I know this time last year I thought we were going to lose Lady, but she rallied and we had her foar another 6 months. In the end I knew that I had to save her more pain by letting her go.
