MizTricia, as you can see, your name was next on the list. How are you? Has it cooled off a little this evening?

I'm so glad to see you, MizTricia! It has been too long! Yes, we had a few posting at once this evening! It is so hard to find anyone here lately. It seems as if we miss each other by a few minutes.

I missed out on the TV program convo. Did howdy Doody make the list? I would name the cousin cliff show also, but that was local after school programing, cartoons plus some live from the studio with kids there to watch.

I think it has gotten easier to catch someone since Gath gave us a new page. It took so long waiting for posts to get there, most would do as I did, post and leave.

It got a bit cooler late afternoon, we had a shower pop up, I actually went outside again, twice in one day! i sat on the porch and watched the rain and the clouds and the trees swaying in the wind.

Howdy Doodie was mentioned, I believe. I remember Princess Summer-Fall-Winter-Spring and the Flub-a-Dub, and, of course, Buffalo Bob.

I'm glad you are having better luck with posts going through now, MizT!

I enjoyed sitting on our front porch watching storms and the water cascading down the hill when I was a child. I haven't had a porch since I 'grew up' and moved away.

And what was the name of the show, with the theme song ' it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor, would you be mine?'

I think Mr. Green Jeans was on Captain Kangaroo. Some of my younger siblings watched that more than I did. Yes, I think Clarabelle was also with Buffalo Bob & Howdy Doodie!

Al built the porch covereing over our back deck after his heart surgery. we had a canvas 'porch' cover when he had surgery, and he spent a LOT of time on the porch during his recovery. Just too much sun to sit out ther ewithout a covering, and then whe canvas covering wore out, he got a friend to come and they built a tin roofed porch cover, nothing like hearing a gentle rain on a tin roof!!

Mr. Roger's Neighborhood had the song, 'It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.' Our children enjoyed watching him and the Trolley and Daniel Striped Tiger and Owl and the King, Queen, and Prince, etc.

As soon as you said they build a tin roof to cover the porch, I thought of the rain tapping on it. It's a pleasure too many people don't know about or ignore.

YES, Mr Rogers, thank you!

Well we talked to soon about not loosing posts! I just lost another, and forget what I said even heheh.

Oh, one thing, About how Stella had time to watch so many TV shows. many of them were 30 min shows back then, so there were more shows in an evening.

not only does rain sound good on a tin roof, they are fast to build hehehe. it has served us well. shades the slider from kitchen, so I can keep the blinds open on that now. I can also grow some less heat tollerant plants on my porch now.

You're right, MizT. I had forgotten about the length of the shows. So we could watch twice as many in an evening. Do you suppose that's why there were so many good ones then - they weren't trying to fill an hour (well, about 43 minutes when you subtract time spent in commercials).

I think if we ever build a house, both hubby and I would vote for a covered porch - maybe even screened in to keep out insects.

I think people were satisfied with simpler programing. I mean, just every day life portrayed, like mayberry USA and lassie and The waltons. Ozzie and harriett. Lucy. Just a conflict between neighbors was fodder for the show for many episodes. Life was simpler, shows were simpler

Why thank you Julie for your kind wishes. This day, so far so good! We've shopped. We may have no money left but we do have food...and bubbly! Still have some shopping to put away, so just poking my nose in to see what you've all been up to.
MizTricia, how could we ever forget you! You're the glue that keeps me here.

I am just dropping by to say I am still alive and well and to send you all love and kisses. I have missed you all but have no time at the moment spend here. My first essay is due on Monday and it is only half written - we'll see how well I work under stress tomorrow. Take care everyone and hopefully I will be able to chat soon.

Thanks for letting us know you are still in the land of the living. Remember, a little stress is good for you. All the best for your studies and Monday's essay.

Good Morning all! Grocery shopping for us too this Saturday morning Gail. (At least for hubby!) I think I have more school shopping to do and I'll go early to avoid the crowds. Have a great day/night all! And Jenni, good luck with your essay! I'm sure it will really start to flow the closer the time gets. A person's brain works best under pressure!

I have my coffee, my Air Con is running full speed and my house is cool. What more could a girl ask for during a heat wave in Alabama in August?

Ian, if you stop by, I was thinking about it (I know, a dangerous past time) and I think you should get your own page. Now that Gath has installed the option of deleting any or all posts on your page,(see Karen's page, see clears it regularly) you can control what is there. This way, if anyone wants to get a hold of you, they can go through your page.

Not a bad Sunday here either. The rain has stopped after heavy showers last night. Today, hubby and I plan to rug up and finally go outside and see to our hanging plants. They are sorely in need of some TLC. Even though it is the middle of winter, the hangers are under the verandah, so they don't get watered regularly enough. We are only allowed to turn on dripper systems twice a week, Sat and Tue am for an hour at most. Usually I turn the system on at 6.30am Tuesdays but who can be bothered going out in the rain to turn on a watering system!
