THE HEALING EFFECTS OF LAUGHTER

Research has shown health benefits of laughter ranging from strengthening the immune system to reducing food cravings to increasing one's threshold for pain. There's even an emerging therapeutic field known as humor therapy to help people heal more quickly, among other things.

First carol for you all to enjoy...

I'll be Cloned for Christmas,
There’ll be three of me;
One to Work, and One to Shop,
And One just for Parties.

Christmas Eve, I'm certain,
I won't be alone;
I'll be home for Christmas,
Or else I'll send a Clone!

I woke up with a splitting headache, and have to go out NOW and catch the 2 new horses for their Vet appointment this morning. I turned them out with the herd 2 days ago, and had quite a surprise.... The Arab mare went right up to Sadie (my 1/2 Arab mare) and the 2 greeted each other like mother and daughter! There is a strong possibility that they are, too. Their ages are right, and they came from the same area, as well as there being a strong resemblance between the two. They've been inseparable ever since I turned them in together.

Good Morning friends!
So good to hear from our recovering friends...welcome home, Julie (keep those feet up!), Nola - so happy to hear Judy is improving.
Lizzie - sounds like your day out was just the right medicine. Glad you gals all had a chance to hook up for lunch (I can almost picture it - sob!)

So you lunchy Dag...are you blabbering the "word" because you have everything ready???
If you do, I'm oh-so jealous! Have my shopping done (thank goodness for Internet shopping and no tax or shipping costs on Amazon), but no decor up as we were way-laid getting into the addition as Mike went down to the Bay Area again for a few days.
I am going to be gone over the weekend, so we are planning on moving in at the beginning of next week - (fingers crossed!) and then I can get out the tree and such...I'm hoping Mike wants to surprise me with lights up on the house when I return home from my weekend away!

Ali (Mike's oldest) is home sick with that bloody Swine Flu. It is a doozy, that's for sure!
June - found perfect "bisquits" for the Vanilla Slice, but don't know what "Passion-fruit Icing" is - can anyone help me with this?
Also - very bad news from California (especially for me) I found Timtams in Safeway yesterday!
Arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggg!

Vici you are just going to have some willpower to resist getting too many Timtams. Which I have been told by my niece that they are the same as the biscuits we call'Penguins'. I asked her to bring a packet over this weekend when they come home for xmas.

I need to find a name for the Arabian mare. She's a light grey, and very elegant. She's also intelligent and well mannered.
It was quite easy to get the 2 new ones up into the barn. The harder part was separating Sadie from her mother(?).

The Vet just left. The Arab mare (Ouima?) only has a sprained fetlock joint (similar to a sprained ankle). He agreed with me on her age.... roughly 12 years old. And he also agrees with me that she is probably Sadie's mother. Their attachment is too strong for it to be otherwise.
The pony is in perfect health. I offered her to him, but he said no. I didn't know that his girls now have 4 ponies. So she will stay here until a perfect home is found.

Looks like you might have two more horses Heidi. How is Challenger? You have not mentioned him for some time.
Vici, I still have a couple of packets of TimTams in the cupboard that I bought for when you were here. I think one packet got eaten that day. Not my favourite biscuit.
Google 'Passion fruit' to see what it is. We can also buy it in a small tin. You could use lemon icing instead. We always put passion fruit on pavlova. It is yellow with black seeds.

I'm more familiar with the spanish name for Passion Fruit.... Granadilla. It's one of my all time favorite fruits.

Morning all!
I will try to catch up now before the morning rush hits...

Nola, I hope they can change your shifts so that you don't lose all of your holidays! You'll need them trying to work and study...

Heidi, what a great story about the horses. I choose to believe they are mother and daughter reunited!

Lizzy, there are a few people on here who sound like they could do with your laughter therapy right now.

I came home last night and told Ebob and hubby that I had bad news for them - someone had gone out of their way to get free tickets for them to go to the chrissy party tonight. Not that we don't appreciate it, especially since the tickets were $28 each, but it's hubby's first night with no homework or school. A special effort was made and appreciated though so they will go.

Warning: Sad story
Ebob was telling me about a girl who transferred to her school. The girl told everyone she was a real sl** at her old school. Since coming to this school she has been s**ting, and has apparently offered a boy money for s**. What has happened to this child in her life? I ache just thinking about it. She is apparently receiving treatment so hopefully her future will be better.

That's a serious cry for help. The poor girl is screaming for affection and doesn't know how to get it, so she gets what she can.

Just popping in again to say Hello to everyone! I'm sitting at the computer on one of two chairs that I can get up from, so I can't stay long.

I see Rolanda has an elite way to spell her name - Rol&a. (I thought it was a typo at first.) Best wishes to your Mum and you, Rolanda, as she receives treatments and hopefully both of you get some rest!

Heidi, I love the story about your new horse. The reaction certainly seems to validate your thought that they are mother and daughter and fate has brought them back together! What a wonderful story!

June, best wishes to your friend and the cancer treatments!

Nola, sounds like you will be extremely busy! I hope you can change some of your work dates so you don't need to use up all of your holidays!

Suzy, I hope the new girl at school finds help and encouragement of the right kind! As usual, your family sounds mighty busy. Hope everyone stays healthy!

Best wishes to everyone: Tami, Suzanne, Nola, Rolanda, Heidi, Ditzy Dizzy Lizzy and her clones, Suzy, Gail, Bean, Vibrant Vici, Viv, Brenda, MizT, Mamacita, and all those I've missed! Hugs to all of you! You're in my thoughts and prayers!

Good morning all. Hi Julie - nice to see you popping in 2 days in a row.
Suzy - Heidi's right - it's a cry for help, a need for affection. Poor girl!
June - glad your 'friend' could get an earlier appointment. Give her my best wishes as well.
Hello to everyone else - I'll be back later. xx

Good evening all.
Suzy, you would like my mom if you ever got a chance to meet her. She is pretty spunky and does not take cr*p from anyone. I guess I take after her.
Heidi, what a nice story about the horses. I would consider them mother and daughter also.
Julie, glad to see you back, even if just a little at a time. Take care of those two new knees.
Rol&a, glad mum is feeling a little better today.
