A new place called Buster's Brew Pub just opened last Saturday about 2 blocks from our house. I probably shouldn't have learned about it. We went there this evening and had burgers, fries, and beers. It all tasted so good and I could just see the calorie meter spinning out of control. Maybe heading out for a cruise isn't a bad idea after all.

Wow, nobody's posted here in 10 or 11 days. Am I reporting only to myself?

Weigh in report for week 37: I gained 6 pounds. I knew I was going to ... the food was just too good to turn down, and it could have been worse, but I'm going to work hard on turning it around for the two weeks I'm home before I take off on my next great adventure, Eastern Canada, and meeting Canuk Greg.

Keith, I am still listening...... but with going back to work, I just don't have the time to play on the computer anymore. I am writing to warn Greg that he better not feed you any junk!!! And no bars with greasy burgers and fries!! Remember to hit the salad bar first, okay. Hang in there. When you travel a lot, it makes it tough.

No CP Keith...6 lbs isn't too bad for a cruise gain, and no you are not reporting to yourself....we're all here cheering you on and Joining you in effort, frustration over long lasting plateaus, and tiring of self-imposed restrictions and exercises...yet we must continue to keep plugging....its about attitude of living a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, just because we over indulge on occasion...we wont give up, and one day the weight will go down. We need to be sure to drink the water, get the exercise and enough sleep and the proper nutrients to keep the body going and we will meet our goals!!!! BTW, After my first week back to working towards weight loss, I managed to lose 1/2 lb....a lot of stress and a busy schedule has reduced my effort somewhat...but I'll keep plugging...It will get better! Hang Tough!

yep still here too but not much happening with all the extra here.
Keith not too bad of an effort, so very hard when out travelling.
havent been to the gym on 2 weeks or more, no exercise bike riding for a week and a half but did get some walking in while in melbourne.
the result is no change so still carrying that extra kilo from the last 2 months. relatively pleased with that and now need to get back into the exercise regime with lots of sunshine time to start walking again.
cheers
water of course

Hey all. With starting the new employment (I was going around telling people that I was going back to work and was informed that raising kids IS work) almost 2 weeks ago, I have managed to lose about 4 pounds!! It's very labor intensive, so I'm betting that I will be to my goal weight in the next week or two. Then I can set a new goal of maintaining for 3 months..... before I tackle my next task. I'm gonna quit smoking .... again. Keep on keepin' on everyone!

Weigh in report for week 38, I stayed the same this week. I suspect I didn't go down because I let myself drink beer the first few days of the week, since I'd enjoyed it so much on the boat.

Good for you, Angie, & thanks all for the continued support.

Hi all. Stayed the same since I last posted. Bummer. Better than gaining, I always say. And it's so much easier to say it to someone else than to hear it for yourself. Keith, I hope you are behaving out there. As much as I want to visit CA, I don't think I could justify it with the excuse of giving you a good talking to. haha! Just the mere fact that you still have the desire to lose weight after all this time....it has to feel good.
Rosemary, I just love to hear you "woooo-hoooo" hope you are feeling better :)
How many of you have been on and off and on again diets? How great is it to just look back at all the support everyone has gotten just by logging in to play a game. 14 pages of support and ideas to make it easier. Who would have thought it??? I love this place.
ps--Rola, don't be too sad about the lack of weight loss. I gained 3 pounds in 2 months this past spring and went DOWN a size of jeans :)

long time no post, been away and no exercise but lots of walking while away.
back into the whole weightloss thing now hopefully back to gym today.
overall I am 2.5 kgs or 5 pound more than my lowest weight which was way back at the end of june ....... so not too bad considering the lack of exercise over the last 8 weeks or so.
so back to
107 kgs total loss of just 11 kgs or approx 23 pounds
time to knuckle down before summer hits.
cheers to you all

Weigh in report for week 40: I stayed the same. Since we were traveling (again) last Monday, I missed that weigh in. Considering that I've been drinking beer, not being very careful about what I eat, and my exercise has been sporadic, I'm pleased that I stayed the same. Guess I'm on break from the program. I'd rather I wasn't, but there it is.

Reading back over the last few posts, momentum for the whole group is on the wain. I'm amazed how hard it is being to keep up the program for an extended period of time. I'm not giving up, but it's got me wondering.

Hi gang. Sorry to hear that there has been a string of the yucky's here. I really hope that everyone hangs in there and when you really feel down, I want you to take the time to read through the 14 pages of support that are here.

I am jobless again. I'm still smoking, though I have cut back. But I have managed to keep the weight pretty steady. A little flux of pounds here and there, but overall, I'm thrilled with my progress. I have set some more goals, as mine have expired. I'm going to stay this weight, near to it or less, for another 2 months or so. Then it's bye-bye ciggies. Ugh. Just in time for Christmas stress...whoops, I mean, the holiday cheer. I'm determined, though. Then my goal after I quit, is to NOT gain back the weight!!

Listen everyone. I know that sometimes things look bleak and you just want to throw in the towel and say, "Forget it". I met my goal of losing 51 pounds. It didn't happen overnight. Heck it didn't happen in 6 months or even a year. It took 3 YEARS. 3 vveerryy long years. But I wanted it to happen. I had setbacks and weight gains and plateaus that lasted for eternity, just like all of you. Hey, I even tried to quit smoking in Feb and that didn't work. But I want it to happen. And I'm the only one who can make it happen. Keep faith in yourselves. I have faith in each and every one of you, even though we haven't met. Now is when you have to make a decision. Please make the choice to keep going. Take Care, I Care.

OK. One of the reasons I have not been posting on the site lately is I have been very busy (apart from babies) with losing some weight. Back in the middle of August I was finally diagnosed with having a pituitary gland problem. What that means is just about everything I was eating was erroneously being converted to fat by my body and not leaving me with much to work on. Within 3 weeks of being put on the medication, I had lost 7kg and a massive 22cm from my waist! Yeah me!

I had some additional help from Paul who, on my return from NZ and finding out that I had weaned VB, sent me to a health retreat, Camp Eden, for a week. This week has to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. The days started at 5:45am and we were pretty much on the go from then. I had massages, learnt archery, abseiled for the first time, walked, swam and learnt some things about myself. I am going to write it all down on my page (when I get a chance) if you want to find out what else I did at camp.

I have hit an absolute plateau since then losing 3 more kg in the next couple of weeks and then nothing. I am going back to my Dr next week to have a talk to her about it as there are stronger doses.

Got to go now and put a baby to bed.

all the holidaying must be a tough life ..... hope you are enjoying it and am sure that you will master the art of travel and weight control eventually.
Granniemo
you can still get back on the bandwagon and head in the right direction too. how is Houpette going?
Angie
hang in there you are still doing a great job under tough conditions.
you have amazing will and inspire me to keep going.
Rose
good news that they have found what was wrong and you must feel better with the weight off. don't try and go too far as with littlies you need a bit of a backstop. a week at a retreat sounds wongerful.
news from moi is that I have lost 1 of the 2.5 kgs I put on since june so back heading in the right direction. total loss is back to 12.0 kgs. still a long way to go but the sun is shining and going for walks in the evening is much easier now.
keep up the good work everyone and stay healthy
cheers

not a good month diet wise. Holidaying for a week, a couple of birthday parties.. not drinking my 2litres of water a day, all adds up.

Just a small tidbit from me. I stayed the same on weight :) yay me. And I'm gradually cutting back on the ciggies so I'm not in complete shock when I quit. I may end up quitting sooner than later. My lovely state just passed a new law to hike ciggie tax an additional ONE DOLLAR A PACK putting them up to 4.75 a pack or so. Keep strong everyone!

Hey Angie - Well done. Cigarettes cost over $15 pack here which is almost the same in your money these days, so it's a fact of life that it's just not affordable. I was a heavy smoker until April and started on the patches again for the umpteenth time. This time though it's absolutely worked because I stayed on the Number 1, the full strength one, for twice as long as they say. I used them for 3 months , then just 2 weeks on No.2 and then onto No.3, but I didn't really need those at all. I mean it when I say I very rarely even think about ciggies and now I can't even stand the smell of them. Best thing is that I feel bloody proud of myself.

Weigh in report for week 43, I gained 9 pounds since my last weigh in three weeks ago. I spent the whole 3 weeks traveling, having a wonderful time, and made no attempt to control my eating ... just enjoyed myself. I'm glad I didn't gain more. We're through traveling for a while, and I intend to get serious about weight loss again now that we'll be home for some time.

No time now to catch up on posts and people's progress, but I will, soon.

I just backed up to my report for weed 40 and read all the comments from there down. The general consensus is that it's a lot tougher now than it was at the beginning of the year. It's strangely comforting to know that I'm not alone in my struggling. GrannieMo, you did so well for a long time. Do return and re-inspire us. Angie, your long term determination is to strive for. May you conquer the cigs, and if you have to gain a little weight in the process, so be it. You can lose that later. I quit several times and could never keep my weight steady while I was doing it. How wonderful, Rose, to have found a reason that is treatable. Good for you. Tree Sheila, awesome job. Quitting is such a hard thing to do. Cazablanka, may joining us be a benefit to you and your efforts. I must report that I'm eating less since we got home, but have yet to gain control of my beer intake. I wish it didn't taste so good.

To all - yes, I am still smoking. Down to about a half pack a day (10 ciggies) and I gained 3 pounds
