Congratulations June, prizes well-earned!

The rains are here, Paw! No, it's just just somebody eating juicy corn on my roof, it's actual rain. I know, I went out and stood in it just to be sure, to be sure. Sorry, the Irish in me just couldn't help it!

Good morning all! Happy Easter Monday! I hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend! Mine was a little crazy. First with the two older ones going out at night in terrible weather to visit their friends that they haven't seen in a while. On Holy Saturday, Max said he scratched his gum. I didn't see anything, but I told him to garggle with warm salt water anyway. We had Easter dinner on Saturday night since Jerry was taking Brendan back to school at noon on Sunday. Max slept through it and when he woke up, his mouth was swollen. This time I made sure he garglled with salt water. I wanted him to take some antibiotics, but he wouldn't because he can't swallow pills. I woke up at 3am, Easter morning. Meghan wasn't home and she said she would be home no later than 1am since we had to go to the 8:30 mass. She had he old junkie car and I was worried that it broke down somewhere. Max woke up at 4am and I was shocked to see him. His entire right side of his face was swollen. I tried for 45 minutes to get him to take the pill. I texted D1 and she had fallen asleep. Finally got back to bed at 5am and D1 came home at 5:30 and woke everyone up trying to get into the house. (the front door was stuck from all of the rain) I took Max to the doctor after mass on Easter morning. There was another doctor covering for our doctor(who would never have come into the office on a Sunday morning, no less on Easter) and she opened her office for us. She couldn't find the cause but suspected it had something to do with a tooth. We got liquid antibiotics to help the infection. I also brought D2 to the doctor since her ear was killing her and she had a sore throat. Since she is going back to school today, I wanted to make sure she didn't have an ear infection or strep throat. She doesn't. After all of that, we kind of vegged out on the couch for the rest of the day watching movies while hubby brought Brendan back to school. (6 hour round trip)

BTW, after a day on antibiotics, Max's face isn't any less swollen. I woke up several times last night worrying that it might swell more and he wouldn't be able to breath. He does not look good. I'm calling the doctor's again this morning when they open to see what they say.

I'll be taking D1 and D2 back to school(Boston) this morning. Jerry is coming home early from work to make sure Max is ok.(it will probably take me 7-8 hours to go to both schools and unpack them both.)

Coffee is on, with tea and chocolate available from the magic pot. NO lovely cakes or other treats, I am sure we all had plenty over the holiday!

G'day to all, a sunny and cold morning here. We did not get the expected frost, but they forecast even lower numbers for tonight. OH NO, do not need frost to nip the tender buds of blooming pear trees.

My second and third Pear trees are in bloom now. The first one is loosing the blooms, and with wind blowing, we had a shower of petals on our porch. The tree is a good 75 feet (25 meters) from the back porch, so you can tell we had a few nice gusts. First tree now has tiny green leaves, ahhh, spring.

OH STELLA, we were posting same time, and I just saw your messages. that is most scary about max and his swelling mouth! Have you thought of taking him to the dentist, and having X rays to see if he has an abcess?? or something with a tooth as the doc suggested? You do have your hands full taking girls back to school and looking after Max at the same time. I hope this all resolves and soon.

Will you be taking Max with you today just to keep an eye on him? Or is he going to school? Like you, I worry it cold get worse and he have breathing difficulties and worry about him if he is to be alone today.

Just HOW did Max scratch his gum? with what?

Stella hope Max is better soon, it does sound as if he has some sort of abcess on a tooth. So a dental appointment might be neccessary.

I've just spent the day planting vegetable seeds. It is so cold here at present I have had to put up a little four shelved 'greenhouse' in our porch. there is no way that anything would germinate outside. I have planted runner beans, peas, sweetcorn, lettuce, tomato, bell peppers, marigolds and begonias. I have raspberry canes to plant out along with rhubarb, potatoes, broccoli, asparagus and cucumber. If all these grow we should be eating very healthily and cheaply this year If they fail we will still have to buy the produce from the shops but as I haven't spent too much on seed etc we wouldn't be too much out of pocket.

We tried out a vege patch last year. Apart from a big water bill we got some veges, but not enough to make a difference to our vege bill. Me thinks we planted the wrong veges!!!

Today is the day!
First official day of the school holidays in Victoria. Two weeks and D#3's social calendar (ergo mine!) is just about full. A few small time slots left but you'll have to book quick!!!
Today is the hairdresser for streaks in her hair. She is going to her first concert on Thursday night so it's all about the look.

Before the hairdressers though, I am taking Nibbles to the vet to have her sutures removed.
Thanks to all for your kind thoughts for her but don't worry, she's still the same Nibbles she was before! A total nut bag!!! She brings a smile to my face every day.

I bought an inexpensive world map and I have been studying trying to figure out where all the countries are! Big job! I never realized how big Australia is! It looks like most of the towns are near the oceans? Is the land habitable inland?

Debby.. inland is mostly desert.
from Perth (West Coast) to Sydney (East Coast) it is about 3000 miles/4500kilometers.
Kangaroos..
yes they are in the city, in the bush areas..
Where Lynda lives, she would see some more than I would.. Lynda lives in the more rural area and in the hills.. about a 20 min drive East from me.
