Good morning all - it's a rainy miserable day here in Brissie - so I've brought along some morning tea/coffee for everyone.
I hope there's enough here for everyone to enjoy!

Thoughts and prayers for Debbie's Mum, Mamacita's sister and Angie's (W - from easy page) Grandma. It's all so worrying for the families.
Going to see my dear old Mum today. While she does have Alzheimers, her physical health is OK although she is not so sprightly as she used to be. It's very sad to see her like this, though.

Had a bit of a stressful afternoon/evening yesterday.
my Big Brother, on holidays in Sydney with his wife, wasnt too good yesterday..spent most of the day in hospital!!
after many tests, and the diagnoses.. he was discharged, he is ok, nothing serious, and he is allowed to fly home as scheduled tonight.

I was a bit worried about my mum, who is also on holidays in Sydney as well. at 88, her health isnt too good, and she was worried as!! about her first born!. my cousin Audrey looked after her extremely well, and stayed with her at the hospital, along with SIL, while waiting for results etc. Mum is flying home tonight as well.

My tulips are coming up and am hoping that they don't bud before the last snow/frost. None of the forsythias in the area have bloomed yet, so we have at least 3 more snows.

Spoke to my sister a couple of hours ago after she was moved from intensive care to a regular room. She said she's feeling much better, but is very weak....and more test are scheduled for the a.m. It doesn't sound too favorable that she will be up to traveling so far, and so soon after all she has been going through....the trip may have to be rescheduled...we all have travel insurance so no monetary loss...just disrupted plans..as I told her 'get well and don't sweat the small stuff'. She seems to be listening..I am glad. She asked that I extend her thanks for the prayers from everyone....

Mamacita - happy to hear your sister is out of intensive care. You're right about not sweating the small stuff. Just a small inconvenience, rescheduling your travel plans, compared to her ill- health. May she continue to improve and enjoy her trip at a later date!

Hi Rolanda, Ruby and Becky - missed you all while I was out today.
Mum was fairly cheerful today. It's always a relief to see her when she's like that and when she let's you go quite happily. She often gets clingy and I really feel that our roles are now reversed. We look after her and she is childlike. This is sad, but typical - she wants me to bring her some photos of Dad (who died 2 years ago) because she can't remember him. There are several of him in her room but she can't relate to them. I'll take up some from when they were young.

CynB, how hard to see your Mum deteriorate like that. I think it is the early memories that go last so I am sure she will like the photos taken long ago. I have been lucky that our family have been mentally alert up to the end. Have seen many friends with it with their parents and my heart goes out to you.

Thanks, June. It is hard, especially seeing both parents deteriorate into dementia, so my sister, brother and I have been dealing with it for years now. Also, there is always the worrying thought in the back of your mind that you dare not give credence to - if both our parents have got this, our chances of getting it must have dramatically increased. A good sense of humour and keeping up to date on everything available to assist with Mum's quality of life, comfort and support seems to be the key to coping, and basically we do cope (you have to).

Good morning all! The snow finally arrived last night!
Everything is covered in white again! It would be pretty but for the fact that it is almost April! Taking Max to the dentist in a bit to get his tooth pulled. Hopefully that will fix everything!
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you that have sick family members, Mama, Debby, CynB, Rolanda and Angie. Sorry that your trip will have to be postponed, Mama, but I'm glad your sister is out of intensive care.
Rolanda, I sympathize with your emotional eating. I am exactly the same way. All of the stress this week and the Easter chocolate just calling to me, my being good went down the drain and I have to start all over again so that I can fit into my summer clothes for Florida.

Hi all, weather here is back to rain and cold.
Mama pleased to hear that your sister is improving. Pity you have to cancel your long awaited trip, but on the bright side maybe when you get to reschedule the weather will be better.
CynB I have every sympathy for you and your mother. My mother was exactly the same as yours. It was soul destroying to visit her only to find out that she didn't know me or anyone else who went to visit her.

Stella, hope the tooth out helps Max and all goes well with him.
Rolanda, happy to hear your Mom and brother and family are back in Perth. I hope he does not have a repeat of his problems.
Mama, glad your sister is out of intensive care. May she continue to improve.
CynB, My MIL was very similar to your Mom. At the last, she did not know anyone. My BIL visited daily, hubby less often, because it was blatently apparent she had NO IDEA who he was. she would ask either of her children, " have you seen the boys?" That is what she called her sons, the boys. Broke hubby's heart that shd did not know him.

Good Morning All. CynB....Blessings on your outlook....those of us who have been faced with what I call the slow death know how hard it is to stay positive and to keep visiting our loved ones. Many more are like Miz T's hubby....having our heart broken every time we would visit, making it hard to see them...which is harder...six in one hand, 1/2 dozen in the other....so kudos to you for being able to smile through your tears.
To all of our ailing loved ones I send peace, love and continued prayers for comfort and joy, to both those needing the care, and the care givers.!!!

Hello Everyone -
Gail - I needed that hug....thanks!
Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers headed my way. My mom is only 74 yrs old and I want to enjoy life with her again. Shopping has always been a favorite pass time. We like to shop for anything, shoes, clothes, food, houses etc. You name it. It is nice just to spend the time together.
My grandmother had alzheimers before she passed away. (Dad's side) She didn't know the family and it was very very hard!!!

Mamacita - know what you mean! Hubby is having blood tests at the moment and the dreaded google informs me that one of the 'things' it could be is genetic. Decided to stay well away from google until AFTER he gets the results! Diagnosis is far better than speculation....
