Today, our town held it's Autumn Plant Market, run by the local CFA. Hubby and I went along and bought a couple more lavenders, some liriopes and diosma to replace the one that does not seem to be doing well.
We have already planted the lavenders and liriopes in one garden bed but the rest can wait!

Off the phone so can have a decent conversation on here. Sharon rang on the Wed. morning as Laura's dad pulled out of going so I went instead. Actually we spent about 1 1/2 hours in the animal nursary fedding goats, lambs, calves, deer, etc. Laura loved it. I paid senior prices and we took our own food. As Seniors day I got to ride on the Thomas train as Grandparents rode free with a paying child. $5 for us both for a 10 minute ride was not too bad.(especially as those things we avoid in the shopping centre are $2 for about 2 minutes if you are lucky)

My kids unfortunately were never satisfied with the free attractions like the farm animals and such so it was always a very expensive and stressful day out as far as I was concerned. I think the last time we went, which was several years ago (and the only time I have been to the Melbourne Show) it cost us about $70ish, and that was just to get in through the gate!

Sorry June, I just realised what the time is! Have to go fling food around the kitchen before there is an uprising!
Luckily it's a fairly simple dinner tonight so I should be able to duck back in here between stages. On the menu tonight is Gail's Lamb Racks served with steamed veg and boiled taters. Easy yet delicious.
Catch you later.

Good Day SA4
Since I was so rudely booted out last night that I could not even make a General comment, did not have a chance to gloat about the dinner I made for my friends where my boat is moored. It was really nice to cook for more that me again.
Sliced smoked salmon with iceberg lettuce, finely sliced onion and capers then cooked green prawns I got from one of the trawlers last weekend in a creamy garlic sauce with rice but cheated on dessert and bought a lemon meringue pie to use up the rest of the double cream.

Just threw some water at the garden and got eaten by mozzies. Should have put some spray on before I went out.
Laura helps herself to any smoked salmon she finds in my fridge. Expensive tastes and I am not sure how it goes with her stomach ulcers!
I like a nice prawn!

We had some curried chicken and rice. Very easy (cold meat ,a tin of soup, frozen peas/corn and some curry powder). Tasty and filled us up. Did not feel like cooking much.

Kittie Story

Every kitty had her own personality, even a mother and daughter duo, like my 2 kitties. Last night we had a nice rain. Both girls came inside to escape the raindrops, and joined us watching the telly a bit. Then, there was a bit of thunder and lightening in the distance. Momma kitty jumped up on the back of the sofa, looking out the open window, feeling the breeze and watching the lightening. Baby kitty (age 5 years and larger than Momma kitty) hid under the coffee table, her back against the sofa, roof over her head, a very nice "cave" for escaping the storm.

Kities, gotta love them!

Stella, hope Max is feeling better. At least he didn't bite the dentist like I did when I was 12. He gave me a 1/2 shot of novacaine before filling a tooth. When he started to drill, told him that it hurt. He said, "I'll tell you when it hurts." Whole time my back was arched out of the chair and in a sweat, in the middle of winter. Let him put in the filling and the mold. Sat there and waited until he got the mold out and smoothed it down. Stuck his finger in my mouth and thatn's when I clamped down. My mom was saying, "Becky, let go. Let go." Finally let him go and asked very sweetly, "What's wrong?" He said, "That hurt." Replied, "I'll tell you when it hurts." Mom paid the bill and we never went back to him.

Rena, hope Amber enjoyed the party. Just had a thought, put the passports in your suitcase. That way you'll know where they are.

Suzy, I liked your story about the pony. My experience didn't have as happy an outcome. Years ago, I was driving back to visit my family, and, the road is hilly and with a lot of blind curves (very rural). Since it was dark, I was on the lookout for deer. Some girl passed me like I was standing still. About 2 miles up the road she hit and killed a plow horse that had gotten loose. I checked on her and then went to the nearest house. They had heard the accident and had already called the sheriff. When the deputy arrived, I told him I didn't see the accident (which I didn't) and was told that I could leave. About a mile up the road, over a knoll, I came across another plow horse. Pulled off the road, grabbed him by the harness and walked him back to the accident. The people from the house tied him up for the owner to come and get him. At least one was saved.

MizT, did you see the picture of the kitty on the Today Show? On it's side, the fur had written I HEART Dot. The mama's name is Dot. It was just too cute.

Becky - that's what I thought was going to happen with the pony! Cars fly along the bus stop road - 60mph sometimes. I'm not sure I would have had what it takes to lead a plow horse! Though I would have given it my best shot...

MizT - your kitties sound wonderful! I have always thought that kittens are the perfect cure for what ails you. But I won't let hubby and kids get one - two big dogs and a bird that flies around the house most nights - something would get eaten!!!

Becky - your comment about watching for deer reminded me of our visit to Mum in the middle of nowhere. She warned us to try to avoid driving at dusk or dawn, and if we had to to watch very carefully for kangaroos. She was right! They were everywhere and they were huge. Don't think the car would have survived a hit, let alone the kangaroo. Our closest call, however, was with an eagle which took off from the side of the road (feasting on road kill?) just as we went past. I swear it's wings touched the car!!!!

See what happens when you miss just one day? I'm way past a serial post!

My first canteen duty was an experience to say the least. I've never seen so many people eat so much junk in so short a time! And 'thrown in at the deep end' is an understatement. When we were relieved I quickly ran around saying things like - there are the gloves, that button is white coffee, that till is for the BBQ, good luck finding the prices, we don't know how to make milk shakes either etc etc. Oh well, next time will be easier!

My daughter had a horse hit by a car. The gate was not clipped properly and the horses opened it and got out. It was an ex racehorse and she was training it as a jumper for the shows.(It was killed)
Even the other day when we were at her place the horses were getting the latch on the door to the house in their mouth and trying to turn it to get inside for some carrots!
