JUNE, looks like the Weeee is all dried up now, is it safe to post?
A long, uneventful day today, well, except hubby broke his dentures, eating a JELLY BEAN from the Easter basket! Think they are still in warranty, but eating has been difficult for him today. We will be phoning for an emergency appointment first thing tomorrow.
He did try repairing them himself, made it through one meal hehe, and they came apart again. I am cooking creamed turkey over mashed potatoes and some VERY soft veg for dinner tonight. Maybe peas and carrots and cook his to bits. He is not really wanting blender meals, said had enough of those to last a lifetime already.

Becky, I think your dentist story is BRILL! I don't going to the dentist either. Goes back to when I was a kid and had to have multiple visits to the 'school' dentist to fix holes and have a plate made. Too many needles and drills.

It's rainy here, too, but I like it because it keeps the pollen down.

Rudy is at the vet's being boarded. I had to go to North Carolina Friday and sign some papers, and no one else could keep him. I told them to just dope him up. I hope he got on OK.

SA4'ers. Hope you are having a great day.
A friend dropped off a bread maker she didn't want the other day and so I'm giving it a burl...easier than the way I usually make bread.
Oooh....just remembered my coffee sitting on the bench.
Back soon.

Heavens it is quite here today...
Well I'm rereading the breadmaking book...machine has been beeping at me!! Arghhh....don't need things to beep at me.
Trying to find the bit in the book about beeping...think this is where I add 'extras' but there doesn't seem to be much room ... seem to have missed the bit where the dough gets punched down and now its baking!
Obviously I'm going to have to put another loaf on after this. House smells very good ...very, very good! I'll make some fruit buns and bring them over to share.

all.
Suzy, where I grew up the town was surrounded by farms. Across the street, a neighbor had a horse that I'd go and feed. The first time hubby (city boy) came to visit, I thought he'd never stop laughing. Outside the courthouse, the Amish tied up their horse and buggies to a rail and spaced along the rail are parking meters.

June, they have a home and garden show every year at the beginning of March. We've only gone once. It only has people trying to get you to sign up for a service or an addition to your house.

Ruby, saw your pictures of Rudy and boy does he look ornery. Have you tried bitter apple to keep him from chewing? Ours would go out in the yard and chew sticks, etc. We finally started giving him rawhide bones and they seemed to satisfy him.

Bean, love using my bread maker. Mine beeps at the end of the mixing process, depending on the cycle I pick, and at the end of the cycle. The beeping before the kneading is just a reminder to add nuts, fruit, etc. that's in the recipe. I use mine to mix pizza and focaccia bread dough.

All. Don't fret, I found the passports. They were in the glove box of my vehicle. We just went down for the afternoon yesterday. Amber had a good time and didn't want to come home. We stayed until after 6 o'clock. As we were driving up our road at 2 1/2K we ran into some elk on the road. I stopped a ways away from them and just looked at them for a minute or two. They just stood there and looked back. I honked the horn and they didn't move. I started to drive slowly toward them and they still wouldn't move. Honked the horn some more and they finally got off the road and off I went. I think if I had just stayed there, they would have, too. That is only the second time I have seen them. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me. It would have been a beautiful picture. I keep telling myself I really need to carry it with me all the time but I keep forgetting it. Maybe next time.

Wow from me too Rena!! I think I would have forgotten to honk if I'd seen elk on the road! I'm tempted to say 'cool', but know that would make me look uncool so I'll just think it.

Hot bread tastes very good....
Becky I can see myself using it for making pizza's and foccacia every weekend. Amazed to see a recipe for making JAM in a breadmaker. Pasta - yes, jam ??
Gotta bit to learn...one minute the dough looked like it was going to pop the lid of the breadmaker and next minute it had collapsed...page 20 - Q & A: too much yeast, water or not enough flour...a few more loaves needed to try each possibility.

I used to use a bread machine all the time to make bread but I would remove it and cook it in the oven. Didn't like the loaf shape of the machine. I haven 't used it for a long time now. I guess I just got lazy.

Wow Rena!! Are there a lot of elk in your area and do they get in and wreck your garden? What a disaster for the elk and you and your car if you hit one!
We have a similar problem downunder with kangaroos. I had a roo bar fitted to my first car which had an added bonus: no one messed with this tough chick from the bush when I was young!! [that was until I got out of the car and they could see I was only 5 foot and a bit - not much of a risk!!]
One year the insurance company sent an assessor out to check the validity of all the claims for front end damage. Can't remember know how many they hit but they didn't knock back any claims for a while after that. Panel beating can be big business in the bush when the the roos move closer to town looking for feed and water.

There was at least ten in the bunch I saw last night. I don't usually see them, but I do know they are around. I usually drive very carefully on my road, especially at dusk. You never know what you will see here. I have seen moose, deer, bears, a rattle snake, skunks, rabbits, coyotes, turkeys, pheasants, quail and of course the elk. And Amber reminded me about the cows.
