D#2's bedroom. It has been five years in the planning! Every time we came to do it, she would throw a teenage tantrum, so it would go back onto the backburner for another year or so. She is actually quite grateful now though, if we had done it back then, it would be hot pink right now!
It will be a slow job as there were quite a few holes to patch...apparently she knows nothing about them!!!

Gail, don't you know that holes in walls occur spontaneously, without human intervention? And they are NEVER anyone's fault. Especially the owner of said wall. This is a little known fact, frequently misunderstood by insensitive people, like parents.

Son's wall was painted, ooh, maybe 4 months ago. Today I have moved his furnture, vacuumed, etc. Put a few things in boxes... Where his desk was the walls were really dirty (already!) At about the height where your feet would be, if you were the kind of person who puts their feet up on the wall. Not that anyone would do THAT! No siree, of course not! Mmmm...

I am hoping that the same thing will happen as happened when we painted our son's room...he moved out straight afterward! I live in hope.

Hi Mamacita!
Gail, my son has gone - (!!!)- only his junk remains. The other day I started cleaning his room - we have a terrible problem with ants at the moment, and I thought What a great excuse! Of course I'd barely started when the boy turned up - must be some kind of radar. But he took it pretty well - he'd just come over to borrow our garden chairs for the obligatory house-warming party. So, the room is clean!!! How can something like that make me feel so excited? I really need to get out more! ;)

I'm back. I've done the second coat on the cornices, hubby is still rollering... I should be sugar soaping the windows, but I decided to sit for a bit instead.

You know when they tell you not to stand on the top of the ladder, to stop at the top rung, they're right! It's very wobbly up there... Hubby offered to get me the taller ladder but I didn't want to drag it around the room. I nearly paid dearly for my laziness!

Gail and Judy, I need to learn some childrenish too. I thought 'clean your room' meant pick things up and put them away until eventually there are enough surfaces visible for some dusting and vacuuming to happen. Apparently I'm wrong. It actually means, sit at your desk and do a beautiful drawing, try out a couple of new hairstyles, paint your nails, and lie on your bed and read a book. Go figure!!

Dogs are eating. As soon as they finish, I'm toddling off to bed. The way my leg hurts, it's physically impossible for me to do a cow check. But I had a good look earlier, and I don't believe that anybody will calve tonight. I have pinpointed one that I think will calve tomorrow, though.

I forgot, 'clean your room' can also mean come out and ask your parents if you can help paint at least 6 times each, and to eat at least 3 times...

Just past 12 midnight here! G'day, Dugs! Sleep well, topsiders! When will I get caught up on reading comments? Still have nearly 20 pages to go.

Trouble's Mom, I hope your shingles are improving!

Heidi, I hope all goes well with your calving and lambing! (Are those real words?

I have CRAFT's about other things I have read, and I'm just now reading valentine's day, so please excuse me for my untimely comments! Off to bed now.

Would have been rude not to I think! Wish I'd get a call, then I'd have more excuse to not go back in there! Spose I better do the rinse now or we'll never start painting!
Catch you later.

Hehe Gail. I am wishing we had a smaller lounge room right now... This one is about 5m x 6m. Another house we looked at was rejected because it had teeny tiny rooms. The lounge room would have been lucky to be 3x3. Right now I'm wishing we'd picked that one!!!!!

d1 just asked if she could go and sleep at a friend's house tonight... baseball in the morning, still messy room... I think not! Do you think my comment - you're not sleeping anywhere other than here until your room is clean - will motivate her to actually clean it??

Hey Suzy, anyone ever tell you you're a legend? Cos you are. What a giggle I just had.
Guess what everyone, pretending you have rinsed the room works almost as well as actually rinsing it!

It almost worked for me recently Suzy, Hannah wanted a girlfriend to sleep over and I said come back and ask me when your room is clean. I checked on her at one stage and just when it was almost completed, the girlfriend had a dose of the sulks and didn't want the sleepover anymore. DOH! The room didn't get finished.

Sounds good Gail! We've just had a liiittle bit of a problem with our din-dins .... oh, 2 cups of COOKED macaroni, not... oops! Spent the next 10 minutes fishing macaroni out of the dish - no wonder it seemed so much! This had better be worth the effort!

Sigh. First coat of the walls done. They look very..... ORANGE. I hope they dry more like the colour on the colour card! Hubby thinks we can do the second coat tonight - easy for him to say, he's rollering!! With floor to ceiling windows, two doors and an archway, skirting boards and cornices, the cutting in is much more work!! That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!
