LOL Vici! We had a note from d2s school - minimal supervision, let us know if your child is coming. I'm about to sign that d2 will arrive at school at 11 (only a 2 hour stop work meeting) when she lets slip that her teacher had said her class had no excuse not to come as he was going to be there! Off to school she went...

Who was it who told me to use white tape to keep the horses out? I'm in the middle of trying it and it seems to be working!! I'm about to dismantle a bit of my adhoc barrier to see what happens... Come to think of it, don't fess up yet - if it fails I might be asking you to come to help clear up the messages in my kitchen!

'Twasn't me, tho' I think it is a good idea with most horses. A few are too cunning to be fooled. Of my 6, one would not be tricked by that, and would wiggle under.

SUZY, hope the white tape works for keeping your lawn mowers contained. you do not want to be off chasing them.

Suzy, I was the one who told you about the white tape. Would love to come and help clean up but not sure if I can get away right now.
Just had a little girl help me stir the Christmas cake (And put in the eggs so hope there is no shell!) and it is in the oven cooking. The two for the stall yesterday did not even make the table before they were sold. This one is for me.

MizT, the problem isn't that they are taking off, the problem is that they are coming into the house!

The big brown lawn mower keeps checking it out. I moved the other stuff so it would look more accessible to see what he would do. So far he is still checking it out and then backing off...

Hellooooo, SA7! Well, after 2 days in a row with snow flurries, we had enough snow to turn the grass white (temporarily, thank goodness) yesterday. I am NOT ready! Temperatures in the 20* F today (below 0*C, but I don't know how far below). The car's steering wheel was almost too cold to hold onto.

June, I thank you many times over! My back patio is looking like a patio again (well, as much as it is capable of anyway). I'm keeping the back door closed - just in case - so you are safe from the trip down to help clean up.

Meant to say something about your christmas cakes June... they sound delicious! I usually end up buying a Lions Club cake. Still not very adventurous with the flinging food thing...

Ah... Thought there might be a secret recipe. Some would say that I was the fruitcake. Or maybe just a fig newton (an involved Marx Bro's joke )

June, your comment about Christmas cakes reminded me that it's time to help Mum start making hers. She does a boiled fruit cake, and I've many happy memories of fighting my sisters over who got to lick the saucepan - even dividing it into sections. Back then it was one cake, 3 lickers. This year there's 7 to make and I get to lick every single one! Bet it doesn't taste as good as it did then though.

Lion's Club fruit cake: a 3"x3"x9" block of dark candied fruit, a few dark nuts and dark batter which weighs approximately the same as a common brick but doesn't taste as good. It is generally believed that it is the origin of the custom of re-gifting.

Yeah, I do, Broni. They're too good to go to waste - but 7 on my own??? I'd be sick afterwards.
