Hello all. My cat Snowball is going backward in his treatment. Tomorrow I pick up some more meds at the vet. Also Frasier is losing more weight. I think some tough decisions are in my future.

FIL is now totally refusing his meds. One is a heart medication and another is a blood thinner. Stubborn, or what??? Now I know where hubby gets it from.

June, I hope your vacation is absolutely wonderful.

Theresa, I know it worries you to no end that FIL will not take his meds. Has he said why? Unless he is declared incompetent, he cannot be forced to take them. Do you think he knows what the consequences could be? Or is he that far gone into the disese process?

MizT, FIL was never one to take pills, not even Tylenol or aspirin. He was convinced the meds he was taking caused constipation. When he stopped taking them, the constipation disappeared. Both hubby and his sister contacted two different drug stores, and the doctor's office, and that is not a side effect of his meds. BUT HE BELIEVES IT IS. It appears his dementia is not far enough advanced yet that the doctor is willing to have him put in a home. He has home care and meals-on-wheels, and hubby's sister lives next door. It's a conundrum. He has been told of the consequences, but I don't think he believes it.

Hubby spent the day with his mom and dad today, and I think we are both going down on Wednesday. I haven't been going as much because the hour and a half car ride was not going to happen with my arthritis in the low back and tailbone. Couldn't sit that long.

MizT, a belated attagirl!! And while you aren't feeling great too! Extra attagirl there.

June, that was a fantastic anniversary present! I hope it applies for the return ticket too.

Mamacita, how exciting for Angelique... and you, and mum. I wish I was reading books too instead of math and science text books.

Vicki, just made hubby smile telling him about the computer games. You really have a lot on your plate, hopefully your hubby will be helping out more soon.

Heidi, hope the 'cheaper' (still expensive) option works out for your tyres.

Don't know what I just did, but I lost a post!! Let me try to remember what I said.

Nola, I said I'd love to hear snippets of what you are up to but understand how frustrating computer that are playing silly buggers can be. Whatever you are able to get through would be wonderful.

Theresa, I sent warm moggy thoughts to your kitties and big hugs to you. I hope you get some more time with them. Your FIL is making choices nobody can control - the law won't let you intervene - so although I know you are worried, you can balance that with the knowledge that everyone has done the best they can and the consequences are all his own to own. (You know what I mean, I hope) By the way, does this mean he's letting meals on wheels and home care into the house again?

Hi Lizzy if you're around.

And me. I'm tired and I ache, but I'm surviving. I had a class go nuts on me today and had to have a deputy come up. I had a class have no idea how to even start a revision sheet in preparation for an exam. Then I had a class do well on their revision work - or a chunk of them did anyway, there's always the ones that don't try.

I'm officially a temporary instead of a casual - the biggest difference being which book I sign, oh and earning sick leave and holidays instead of casual rates.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Yesterday was my first day back at school and it is going to be an interesting year. I am moving my classroom out to one of the portables. I have no storage in my new room. All teachers are grouped in teams, with all teams being named after big cats. I am on Team Final. I know, not a cat name but it reflects what we will be doing. We are the Final stop for our kids. We are going to work with the lowest/worst 5% of the students, who tend to cause 95% of the problems. In old days we would be called 'drop-out prevention.' It is either going to be an amazing year, or the year from h311.

14km walk? I would be exhausted, and have nasty blisters. You have my admiration, Lizzy G.

Tami.... I'm confused. Why would you start at Target only a week before school starts? You, too, have my admiration , to be working with the worst 5% of the kids.

It's nearly 5am here, and I've been up since 3am and can't sleep. Col left for work early, and the dog started barking at 3am. I had to get up and investigate because she wouldn't stop. It was an inanimate object fell off our garden wall and she was barking at it like it was an invader from outer space. She couldn't have knocked it off, she was locked down under the wall, I think maybe next door's cat might have been the culprit. It has a habit of teasing the dog by sitting just out of reach. Haha!

It's a shame because the thing that fell was a native artifact that Colin found when he was working in oil exploration out on the Qld/NT/SA borders before I met him. It's a piece of clay hollowed out into a bowl and probably hundreds of years old. It had sat in the garden all this time but must have been moved too close to the edge of the wall, fell down and broke into many pieces. Something like that cannot be repaired. Col will be shattered.

What a pity, CynB.

I'm helping out a friend by taking care of his dog here for the next 2 weeks. It's a little spaniel mix female, about 7 months old and smart as paint. We introduced her slowly to my dogs, and though she was overwhelmed at first, she's adjusting quickly. She's a tiny bit smaller than the puppies (who have been growing by leaps and bounds) and they're fascinated by her.Her name is Sassy.

BOY, just went through the worse flare of this angioedema. I had given it 5 minutes to start getting better or call the medics. We got to 4 and a half before it began to ease.

How does one know that a flare is really over? One has to tinkle, and again and again. The swelling of tissue reverses and as the fluid is released from tissue, well, it has to go somewhere.

Housekeeper was here today. I moved my power chair out and parked behind her cleaning cart, about half way down the hall. Easier for her to vacuum and move about the living room. Mary had left, moping her way out. I was waiting for floor to dry. I had door open so I could see if anyone wanted to go a joy ride in my vehicle, and I was in my recliner. I heard this voice, Tricia, Tricia, are you OK? It was Ernest from next door. He thought something wrong cause chair in the hall and door open was not normal. I thought it so sweet he came to check on me!

OK, bed time, just wanted to check in. I did not read tonight, maybe after tomorrow I will not be so rushed.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

tomorrow is doctor day, I am seeing 2 different doctors. Perhaps one of them can do something other than antihistamines and steroids. Yesterday my doctor sent me another dose pack, this is #3, just to get me through till appointment date tomorrow.

It's quiet on here. As you can tell, I can't sleep. Too much is happening. Mum looks to have a buyer for her house. That's not bad since it hasn't been advertised yet. It has only been with the real estate agent since Saturday afternoon.
Mum wasn't very well yesterday and is now in hospital for some tests on her stomach and checks on her diabetes. I don't think there is anything seriously wrong.
I might read for a bit and see if that will put me back to sleep. I need to go to work for a few hours tomorrow before I go back to the hospital.

My new trailer tires are on order, and should be in tomorrow. I decided to replace all 5 because upon examination, the 3 remaining tires all show signs of dry rot. I do NOT need a repeat of Sunday while I am down in Florida. The tire repair guy found me a great deal in 10 ply trailer tires, so I can afford this. They cost less than half what I expected to pay.

We're back to the world of the surreal. I lost my cell phone several weeks ago, so I bought a replacement and transferred my number and account over on the Tracfone website. I was given word that I had successfully transferred everything to the new phone. I just discovered that while I could call out, I couldn't receive any calls. So I called Tracfone's service people to straighten it out. They told me that when I transferred the account, instead the account had been cancelled. They then told me that I was assigned a new number, yet the cell phone keeps saying that I have my old number still. And they won't tell me what the new number is. I only did the transfer 9 days ago, but they say that the old number has already been reassigned so I can't have it back. Yet, if I call the old number, there's a recording that it's not in service. They're starting an investigation, and want me to get back to them in 48 hours. Something tells me that banging my head against a wall would be a more pleasant experience. I can't stand modern technology.

And when the people who sell it to you are efficient! That is just not good enough. Is there some authority/control organisation you can complain to?

Hi, Everyone!

Just some brief comments:

June, I'm so glad you are enjoying your trip so far!

MizT, I hope at least one of the doctors can come up with a diagnosis that leads to effective treatments!

Vicki, good news that there is interest in your Mum's house. Not good news that she is in hospital, but glad that it doesn't seem to be too severe. I hope you were able to get some sleep!

Broni, a public holiday is not the time to get sick! I hope you will soon be feeling much better!

Heidi, you have a great tire dealer to find a deal on 5 trailer tires! What a relief that they will all be new and in good condition for your return trip to Florida! I hope the ordeal getting your phone situation straightened out is quick and painless. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of confidence in that happening. Good luck!

Cyn, you're right that technology is a blessing when it works and has been programmed intelligently. Unfortunately, too often that's not the case.

Tami, I hope your work at Target is not frustrating! The same goes for your teaching assignment for the new school year!

Sending positive thoughts, healing vibes, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and prayers for all, whether I have recently mentioned you or not!

early morning in Istanbul. Another busy day yesterday with a vist to a Mosque built in 1500 something and on tip of a hill !!!.Both the spice market and the Grand market but I only bought a pair of Turkish scuffs for Laura. I was exhausted at the end of the day. Fighting off a bit of a cold today. I do have to keep well.
Today we plan a couple of cruises on the Bosphorus. That is the division between Europe and Asia and it is interesting travelling back and forth from one continent to another. Our actual tour starts on Friday and once we leave this hotel I may not be able to visit the internet as much.

I'm finally home. It's almost 7 o'clock. I finish work at 2.21pm. And I smell of puke. I've changed my clothes, but I can still smell it. Grandmothering... these are the perks.

Lizzy, doing the city to surf is exciting stuff. I'm glad you told us you'd done it. I don't think I could walk 14km now. I have trouble with one.

Heidi, from what I hear with other teachers, a bit of yes and a bit of no on the manners. I called one parent today and she was lovely. Asked me if her son had been rude to me. I told her that he was rude touching my stuff on my desk, but not verbally rude.

Yep Cyn, deputy principal. Though they almost qualify as law enforcement because behaviour management is a big part of their job.

What a bummer about the artifact. I bet Col was bummed when he found out.

June, it sounds so glamorous! I'm sure the sore feet don't feel that way though. First class will be wonderful! One day I'd love to try it. You never know. If we live long enough to have a 50th anniversary...

My day. A 6 period day, but not a tough one. 3 doubles. I had year 11 first. The chapters they are working on are really easy so I don't have to do much. Then I had a double year 9, they are usually really really awful, but I had booked computers so they could do their assessment task and they were much easier to manage. Then I had a double sport and they weren't interested in anything organised so I just chatted with the other teachers.

Another 6 period day tomorrow and I don't have high hopes for it.

Greetings friends. I read a bit and thought of you all.

Broni, get well soon.

Heidi, happy for you that the tires are affordable. that cell phone business is not good. Hope you can get it straight and soon.
VICKI, hope the house sells fast for your Mom. Sending prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery from whatever is causing your mom's troubles.

JUNE, What an interesting area of the world you are exploring. Do try to rest some. I know, I too would be tempted to push and see everything I could see, but try to schedule in some rest for you. Get over that cold soon!

Well, both docs seem to think it is one of my meds that is causing this. Not sure which one though. My primary care doc discontinued SIX medications. Added 2, but I have not had those filled yet, pharmacy was closed when I got home, that late. I happened to have pain meds like the new ones he prescribed, will be taking those, they seem to work OK, but leave me more groggy. No driving with them till I get accustomed to them, or schedule driving when they wear off, delay next dose till I get home. I just phoned pharmacy to pick up prescriptions. I should get the new meds tomorrow.

Last night discovered I broke out in one solid rash under both arms and in groin area. Both areas that got hot with sitting in either my power chair or driving or in doc office waiting room. the cream I have for using on rash says do not use in those areas. I have called for something else, this is miserable!

I repaired my power chair myself to get me through yesterday. Did I tell you the surreal thing happened with it? I came into apartment Tuesday night, parked it, walked back to door to remove key and close door. I heard a THUD, it sounded like a can fell from shelf in cupboard. Nope, nothing there. Walked back to my recliner, and glanced at my chair. the whole control arm had fallen too the floor, when I was nowhere near it! I put it back on and left till Wed AM. I found a wire tie. those kind used for handcuffs by police. Put it around the control arm and up to the arm rest, pulled it tight, and that thing will not move now! I knew I did not need it falling off while going to first doc via bus. I could see it fall off while I was trying to negotiate the lift.

When I phoned for service on my chair, I told the girl taking information I would NOT be available on Wednesday. I got a call while I was home for lunch, tech said, 'I missed you this morning, are you going to be home now?' Rather curtly told him, NO, I am leaving for doctor, and I told the girl yesterday I would not be available today. Don't know which one at fault, did she pass on that information or not? I am on his schedule for today.

Joy brought my tablet yesterday! I like. We were able to get all my books transferred over to it and synced cause it opened to the page I was reading, YEAH, now I can take book outside, or anywhere in the building and read. I will gradually get other apps for it.

I once had a skype account, but forgot the name and password. I shall have to create another and might be able to talk to some of you who have skype. Hopefully soon.

I am off to a cool shower to see if I can put out the fire of this rash. I have had more than enough of this!
