We walked for about 5 hours straight today. Also climbed lots of steps. I am quite worn out. Hope I do not have to walk as much in London! I had hoped to try and post some photos some, but never enough time and this little notebook is rather slow.
Fly out after lunchtime.

Happy birthday, Broni
June - was that Meteora where you visited the monasteries on the rocks? Between your travels in Turkey, Greece and the UK, and my brothers travels in the US and Canada, I'm so envious!!
Julie - Jewel has mellowed a lot, she's 5 years old now. Her worst problem is that she believes every person who enters our property is there to visit, and play with her!! Especially our grandchildren.
Heidi - so glad you finally got the registration sorted for the RV.
Mama, hope you're feeling better, Tricia too!

It's already 9/11 here in Australia, 12 years - can't help still feeling sad about the huge loss of life, and still appalled that such a thing happened at all.

Cyn. Peter will play with Jewel.

my MIL's birthday today.
I remember that day 12 years ago well. MIL had been over for dinner, Peter took her home, MUm was there as well, she drove home. Mum rang me from home and said, something was happening in America.. there was nothing on the Telly to indicate anything. about 5 mins later, it all was on telly. Peter rang to say his Mum's had been broken into, and they were waiting for Police to come...
MIL ended up back at our place for the night, we watched the telly to all hours!!
It was awful, especially when Plane #2 flew in.. and the collapsing of the buildings

Happy Birthday Broni!! Hope you're having a good one!

I had a year 8 class talking about the date today, they knew exactly what it was. These kids would be 13 with maybe a few 14 year olds...

I was living in my mother's shed. Hubby and I were watching a movie. When it finished I started to surf and found the news, only it looked like a horror movie. I remember when I realised it was real and I said to hubby - this is real, this is happening. I saw the second plane hit too. It was incredibly sad. I cried a lot that night.

I still haven't moved a single roll of hay, and I'm not looking forward to it. The back window is still missing, with wipers, hinges, and latches just dangling. That means the A/C won't work well, and the noise from the tractor will be louder. But the hay does need to get under cover to maintain maximum nutrition. So I need to stop dawdling and get to work. This will mean that I'll be laid up in bed tomorrow with my back screaming at me.

Hmmmmmmm .... Do I get dressed and move hay? Or do I go back to bed? Maybe I'll compromise. Move a dozen or so rolls, complain that my back hurts, then go back to bed. I know I SHOULD move the hay, but my body says ''No!''.

Listen to your body Heidi...in the long run, it will be better to let the hay go south rather than you going any more south than you now are feeling. For those who don't get my going south reference...it just means going downhill...in this case hurting more.

BTW...Hello one and all...and thanks for the healing vibes sent my way...feeling some better, but not yet 100%...but that will come.
Nola, enjoy your vacation...hope you get a chance to enjoy doing something special just for yourself that will leave you feeling like a million...As I wrote that, a picture of an old soap commercial came to me...it showed a woman relaxing in a tub, her modesty protected and in a dreamy state saying...'take me away Calgon'...lol..guess time alone in a comforting tub may not be much but for some it would seem like a million..lol, but I think you could look forward to a bit more.
Broni, my friend...Happy,happy Birthday to you.
Will be going around to our firehouse shortly to view a memorial service for those lost on 9/11. Our county lost more than any other area in Pa. and we have a part of the tower remains embedded in the standing memorial at our fire station.
Take care all and sending healing vibes to those in need and as always...Peace.

Tomorrow I'm going to visit a friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with 4th stage lung cancer. I don't understand how she let it get so advanced before seeking help because she's an intelligent woman and she grew up with a physician father. She's my age and never smoked. 4th stage means there's realistically little to no hope.

IH just told me that the tractor mechanic will be picking up my tractor tomorrow to replace the broken back window. Since the tractor also needs a servicing, which the mechanic knows about, that'll get done, too. Once it's back, I'll try moving the hay indoors.

I looked for a photo of a memorial quilt my online quilt group made for 9/11. I think it was stored on my computer. I keep forgetting I am now on Al's computer. It was a beautiful quilt and had the name of each person lost that day written on squares that made up the quilt.

I gave myself a nice gift. I had bought Egyptian Cotton high thread count sheets for my bed. Mary was here cleaning yesterday and changed my bed for those sheets. OH MY, how lovely it felt to slide into that bed. I shall be on the lookout for another set of those. I should have bought 2 sets at the price I found them, but had also bought Joy's birthday present, and thought better of spending more that month. Hopefully someday soon I will find them again at a good price. They sure do feel good.

Heidi, sorry your back went into spasm, but if it was going to do it, best before you went out to move hay. I imagine spasms would have been much worse if it was after getting off that tractor. Feel better soon. Sorry to hear about your friend's lung cancer. Denial is such a strong coping mechanism it can let someone get into really bad shape before they face up to reality. I hope you have a good visit with your friend.

Mamacita, hope that soon you will be 100% again!

Rolanda, congrats on the OTT rain. I hope your catchment areas are filling with enough water to take you through the coming summer.

Hugs to each of you, with extras. I am ready to climb between those soft silky sheets again. Till later.

We are now in London. It was fine rain when we arrived. When we got off the train there were only steps to get to road level and I had a back pack and a 22k suitcase. Ken had the same. A nice young man asked if I needed help and carried my case up for me.
Still to decide what to do today. Probably the Tate and V&A museum. We will see Wicked tonight. It is nice to be in cooler temperatures.
Take care of your back Heidi. As Mama says, your health is more important than the hay.
And hope you are soon better Mamacita, and anyone else not feeling well.

Evenin' all,
It's only Thursday and I haven't done my planning yet, but I've had a couple of scotch and cokes. I'm READY for the holidays. One week to go.

There is a young man at the school whom I know because I took his class on a block last year and because he's in my roll call this year. He is also the 'boyfriend' of Kylie, the school's pretend citizen who talks about behaviour at school. (Actually the head teacher, English). He is far from perfect, but he is likable.

Anyway... today I found out that he, and others at the school, had entered a competition 'first Indigenous Prime Minister'. They had to give a speech which was recorded and put on line. Jason made it into the top 100 and now voting is happening for the winner. I listened to his speech tonight before I voted for him, and it's good. I hope he really means it. He's not taking his own education seriously, but apparently he is trying out for a professional football team sometime in the next week or so, which might explain it.

If you want to check him out, he's here:
http://www.theotherelection.com.au/video121

I figure it's out there on the internet for everyone to see so it's okay to share it.

June, I couldn't help thing of Big Bang Theory when I read your comment about the young man who helped you with your bags. The young man in the TV show ran off and stole the bags! So glad it wasn't like that for you. The amount of walking you are doing is impressive. If I ever plan a trip like yours I'll remember to go into training.

June pleased to hear you had help from someone to carry your case up the stairs. Some of those staircases can be long and busy. I hope the weather improves a bit for your travels around England. I doubt it will be hot but hopefully not as wet as it has been for the last few days. Also looking forward to a week on Sunday.

Suzy.... he is a charming young man who sounds like he believes what he's saying. Not everyone is destined to be a scholar, but that's not the only road to making an impact on the future. Athletes, too, can be positive role models... if they want to be. It would be interesting if he does eventually become Prime Minister. Anyone can do it if they try hard enough. Look at who we've had for Presidents in the past few decades: Ronald Reagan, A ''B'' movie actor with alzheimer's who was a front man for the political right (and always needed a script), and George W Bush, a miserable student who partied all the time and to avoid the draft, joined the National Guard and then went permanently AWOL (his father then paid off the ''right'' people). If they can be world leaders (while sounding like complete morons whenever asked to do their own thinking), your young man can do it, and better.

Yes Heidi the patio has been laid. I think it looks great. I haven't taken photos yet as the rest of the garden is a disaster zone. The weather has turned wet here so not much can be done in the garde at present. I will try to take a photo from an angle which leaves out the garden.

Back from visiting my friend Fran with the 4th stage lung cancer. I'm proud of her. She has a great attitude and a sense of humor. The cancer has spread to her left hip and right knee. In fact, it was the knee hurting that made her go to the doctor in the first place. She was shocked about the lung cancer, since she hasn't even coughed once.
The difference between Fran and Helene is dramatic. I much prefer Fran's outlook. She's trying to beat it, but understands that laughter can be the best medicine.

Julie, I took a look at the sheet set you saw. You have to be careful on that site, well, anywhere really. Those sheets are not cotton, but microfiber, whatever that is. Real cotton sheets at that price, I would be tempted to buy them up and resell for a profit. hehehe.

Heidi, I also wish your epidural was before the wedding trip. I hope it is a good trim anyway.

June, how nice to have help getting your heavy case up the steps. there are kind people left and you found one.

Did my grocery shopping this afternoon, and bought a pot of mums at a good price. I will rear out flowers that have spent their energy already and put in the mums. I actually have 2 pots to plant out, as a resident donated another pot of mums. Was too hot when I was out last, should be much cooler tomorrow and for weekend, so I shall wait for that. Low tonight will be in the low 50's, lowest since spring.

On our local news, the weather man showed radar from New Jersey. The smoke from that huge fire on the boardwalk there can be seen on radar. Forecaster said it takes a LOT of smoke to show up on radar. I hope they can get that fire under control, but with the wind and a problem getting enough water to fight it, it does not look promising.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Hubby got a new job this week. He is now working for one of the local high schools doing maintenance work. It is full time with full benefits. He doesn't need the benefits as he is on mine but at least this is a job that won't end. He is pretty handy so it should work out. I think I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.
