Lizzie and any other newbies reading, we are not mean and sadistic toward Heidi and her epidural. she has stated if the epidural really hurts going in, it will relieve pain much longer. So in the interest of long last pain relief for Heidi, hope this coming one is a doozie!
I will be up and out early tomorrow. time to get squished again, and they also scheduled that nerve conduction test for both hands. I am still having both hands go to sleep every night, some nights more often than others, but at least once. Hope they can find out why, and it is fixable.
A good night to topsiders, I am turning in early tonight and all DUGs, have a good Tuesday. Catch you later. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Yep... I want a really awful, screamingly painful epidural. The more the procedure hurts, the better it works. I'd much rather have 5 minutes of excruciating pain and 3 months pain free, than a mild epidural and the next 3 months bedridden.

You have my sympathy, MizT. Being squished is no fun. I wish they'd develop a means of doing that test that wasn't painful and demeaning. With all the modern technology, there has to be a better way.

I had taken my computer in for a checkover early May. Last night I went to burn a DVD and it tells me I have no burner. What !!! It appears the draw won't open, the little light is not on and it doesn't appear as a drive even in the computer list.
Hubby is going to have a look at it tonight. I am just hoping the guy omitted to hook something back up as I refuse to take it back to him. They were a nightmare to deal with.
Other than that it may have just had enough and I will need a new one. I hope not.

We've just had another stray come to visit. I heard him outside, thought it was ours so checked. He came up for a pat and I called Alie to come see because she loves pugs. When she opened the door he invited himself in and explored the whole house. Don came home for lunch and in between complaining about how loudly the dog was snuffling he held him on his lap...
A facebook post and I found out he lived next door and his owner came over gushing thanks and hugging her baby tightly as she took him home to get him back inside and safe.

Today they went to Rottnest Island. The Ferry should be back in Fremantle about 5.00pm (Perth Time, which is what it is now)
They will be catching the train back to Perth, onto Suburbia, from where I will pick them up from.

Ah.... Hotel Rolanda is open for business.
Chaotic day. I went to the implant surgeon this morning. They installed the tooth support posts today, and then took a cast of my mouth so the new teeth that go on there can be made. Unfortunately, not everything went smoothly. When they went to take the mold that they made out of my mouth, a couple of teeth came out with it. One was that temporary that I've had so much trouble with (I DID tell the technician about the temporary beforehand, but she wasn't listening to me) and a permanent molar ripped out, too. So we had to reattach them both. The technician told me that in all the 20+ years they've been in practice, that's only happened 4 times. Just my luck.
Then I went to the RV dealership to sign papers and give them money. My RV won't be ready to go until one or two days before I'm due to leave for Florida. It's a very busy time of the year, and there were a lot of people ahead of me waiting for their RVs. I did spend more time with the RV, familiarizing myself with it. There is only one compartment below that's big enough to hold hay for the trip, but at least there's one. I finally got around to laying down on the bed in back, and it IS comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. It looks more like a full size than a queen size, though.
Then I drove to my regular dentist's office with all of the molds and paperwork. She's gonna finish the job. I did tell them about the two teeth being pulled out. They weren't surprised, with my luck.
Then, a stop to pick up enough animal and people food to get through the next few days.
Finally, I stopped at my insurance company headquarters and got full coverage on the RV. I like these people. It's only $250 for 6 months. I was expecting more.
Now. I'm gonna take a nap. My back is killing me.

Suzy and Tami, here's something to keep in mind for your classes:
A former Sergeant in the Marine Corps took a new job as a high school teacher. Just before the school year started, he injured his back.
He was required to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. Fortunately, the cast fit under his shirt and wasn't noticeable.
On the first day of class, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in the school. The smart punks, having already heard the new teacher was a former Marine, were leery of him and he knew they would be testing his discipline in the classroom.
Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, the new teacher opened the window wide and sat down at his desk. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he picked up a stapler and stapled the tie to his chest.
Dead silence... the rest of the year went very smoothly

hehe Theresa. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of that classroom too! I've shocked a few already by not hesitating to get in the middle of inappropriate activities or flying fists. I'm not physically afraid of them and I like them to know it (though from some stories I've heard I should be). Don't think I'll be stapling anything to my chest though.
Heidi, I hope I come in in the morning to find that you were in agony! I've seen what those posts look like and OUCH! I subbed for a teacher who ended up with a full mouth of them.

Busy day today. I took Dana to a preschool to check it out as a possible for Tahli for next year. I love their philosophy! The only problem was it was very white. I'm told there are some non-white-Australian children who come part time who weren't there that day. So that problem is overcome.
I went home and picked up Alie to get her assessed for dyslexia. They said her reading level is high, way above average for anyone. Then they tested her comprehension levels and she basically got zero or kindergarten levels. So when she is reading something she can picture, like a novel, she does brilliantly, but when she reads something cold, she can't remember any of it, at least when reading aloud. She's probably better reading silently when she can also picture things in her head. It was horrible to watch because I could see it was making her feel horrible about herself, even though there is a physical cause. Sensory overload is the theory I think. I have some reading to do.
From there we drove to Berry to get her work experience form signed. It's hard to imagine her in that environment, but I think she'll love it. She's going to be working in a metal fabrication place, but an artistic one.

I'm so glad that Alie's problem has been recognized. That's step #1 towards helping her overcome it. I wish that testing had been available when I was her age.
I leave for the hospital in 13 minutes. Cross your fingers that it'll be another nasty one? Please?

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. I am already going stir crazy. I actually miss working. When Jane was in town she brought me one of her photos, already framed. I hung it in my kitchen. I have a few other pictures, that my cousin gave me, that I need to hang. They need to go in the kitchen as they are wine prints. My kitchen is not that big so I am looking at how to rearrange the few pictures I already have up. I have patched a few holes in the walls and need to hang a two new towel rods in the boys bathroom. Mitchell slipped one day and pulled the rod down. I will be putting up two rods to replace it.

I'm back from the hospital. The epidural was another lulu. I had to be wheeled out again since I couldn't walk. IH really enjoyed taking me today. He figured out a fun way to pass the time. He brought his golf clubs along and shot 9 holes of golf at a nearby course while he waited. Now he's looking forward to the next epidural.... Sept 25th. That's 4 days before his family's annual golf tournament... at that same course.
Off to bed now.
I hope Mitchell wasn't hurt, Tami.
Congrats, Rolanda.

Greetings friends. It is clouding up to rain for the holiday, I just hope they can get the big fireworks off tomorrow night. Thunder on the Mountain, and it is done in cooperation with one radio station, in sync with the music. It has been years since I have seen it live, traffic around this area is terrible getting to and back home for it. Now, just walk outside, or find a good window and look up! Local news showed that in prep for the show, the show's originators were setting up one section, then covering, stapeling down, plastic to keep rain out. they promise they can set off fireworks no matter the weather. Now only problem is what to do with all the onlookers if weather turns severe.
Just back from Scrabble, I was not last either game, but was feeling bad, till pain meds kicked in, so not playing my best. Then I had to water flowers. I think Margeret, our OCD resident has been watering them some for me, fine with me. I did fill up resiviors in the self watering ots, gave the big ones a good soaking. OH, remember the daisies that the trash man ran over? We have blooms on new growth that has come up from roots, yeah! My sister had sent me some bamboo poles and twine to replace the terrible makeshift things I had used. I cut away the old today, and plants are standing tall on their own. The poles are put away for anyone who needs them later. Sis told BIL I needed 3 poles, he sent 4, said he only shipped bamboo poles in pairs hehehe. He cut a longer pole in half, at a nice sharp angle so it is pointed for easier driving into hard dirt. He had 4, so he sent 4. fine with me.
HEIDI, glad the epidural was a lulu. I hope you are pain free till Sept 25 and longer if need be. Glad Gil found something to entertain himself while waiting on you, now perhaps it will not be a strugle to get him to go with you.
TAMI, Glad only Mitchell's pride was hurt with the towel rod incident. Mom's hear a crash, Mom is gonna check why. I saw the photo from Jane, on TOS, it was a nice photo. I know you are proud to get it.
ROLANDA, know you are happy son is coming for a visit. Moms do need to see thier offspring on a regular basis.
SUZY, glad the preschool turned out to be suitable for Tahli. Will Dana be going to work, or going to school? Hope the work experience works well for Alie, and I know you will research her reading problem and get her all the help that is available. Does she retain what she hears, as in a teacher lecturing, or listening to an audio book, instead of having to read it?
Time for dinner, I think hot dogs with Bavarian Red Cabbage and Apples. Cup of coffee to warm me up, I have been cold all afternoon, except when I went outside. I get cold when I am hurting.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Afternoon all,
I have a long running saga to tell you about. In the middle of May I had my eyes checked and ordered my replacement glasses. On the 29th of May I went in to pick them up only to find they had the wrong prescription in the frames. Many apologies that it would be another 7-10 days until the replacement glasses came in. 3 weeks later I called. Oh, the supplier just realised they didn't have your frame in stock, they'll be in by the end of next week (last week). Translation - we forgot to reorder them and we'll expedite them in and hope you don't work that out. Today I decided to do an in person visit. It's now the 4th of July (Happy 4th Topsiders!!) so it's been long enough. They make a phone call while I'm there and say, by total coincidence, no negotiations were heard, that they are being shipped today, in on Monday. Yeah, right!! Not sure what they are up to, but this stinks!

Enjoy your day alone Rolanda. They are precious!
MizT, I hope you get to see the fireworks. If the clouds are low a lot of it will be too high to be seen. Dana is planning on going to school. I hope it works out for her.
Heidi, I'm so glad it sucked! Now you just have to rest the way you are supposed to and not mess it up.
Tami, I saw the photo. It was lovely. That was a nice thought Jane had. The same thing happened in the bathroom here - twice. I ended up buying a freestanding thing.
Alie is having a tough time dealing with her label now. 'How does it feel having a daughter with the comprehension of a kindergartener?' I just told her that it didn't bother me at all as I've always known that if she was interested in something she will do well at it, no matter what it is.
Now I just have to get her over her cold in time to go to an audition. Warner Bros record company (not sure what they actually call it now) are having open auditions all around Australia. No TV show, no back story needed, just talent. Fingers crossed she is brave enough to go.

Suzy.... if those eyeglass people don't have your new glasses on Monday, ask for your money back, and a copy of the new prescription, and go elsewhere for the glasses. Apparently, they don't consider you important enough and don't need your business. A 2 month run-around is too much B.S. to have to deal with. Those ''excuses'' sound like blatant lies to me, too.

everybody! IH and I sat out in the driveway (on seats, not on the ground) and watched 4 different fireworks shows.
One was only a mile away (our local constable puts on a big one each year) and one was 5 miles away by road, (but half that distance as the crow flies) put on by the county. IIt was a clear night, perfect for fireworks.
Since we're on the highest ground between Louisville and Nashville, we get great views.

Oops. That was last night we did that. It's pouring rain right now. I prepared ~ 30 skewers of marinaded lamb kabobs last night to take with me to the Fourth of July Party I go to each year. We'll cook them on their grill. The kabobs were a request. These friends have smarts and will have the grills under cover. It's not supposed to rain all day. Yesterday they just said short, isolated showers today. It's been pouring for hours.

Congratulations HEIDI, on being pain free past the epidural. I hope this lasts and lasts. Your fireworks were on July 3? We wait till tonight to do the big fireworks shows here. There is one at American Village, right next door to the Alabama National Cemetery. We used to go to that one. Heidi, you might remember where that was. OR we once went to one on the lake, now that ws very nice, see the fireworks above and reflected in the water. It has been ages since I have seen Thunder on the Mountain. Once we were invited to a cookout and 'stay for fireworks' party by a couple who lived on north side of the mountain. You needed a lounge chair, full back, or a quilt on the grass to watch fireworks above your head hehehe.
SUZI, when your clock says 4:40 on the East Coast, I am 3:40 Central time. I was sleeping soundly about then.
No rain, no sun, just solid clouds here at the moment. Temps are much milder, not like July 4th at all.
Time to see what I can pull together that is a red, white and blue outfit for today. I have a lovely quilted star if I can find a way to attach to back of wheel chair, that would be nice.
Hugs to each of you, with extras.
