Greetings friends, We had a fun activity today, a scavenger hunt! Fifteen of us, divided into 3 groups, I was captain of one group. LONG list of items, about half might be found in your apartment, and about half, more unusual items, had been planted around the commons room, kitchen, chapel, restrooms, staff offices. things like bowling balls, peacock feathers (thought of you Heidi) badminton racket and birdie (someone took ALL the birdies, so if you found the rackets, that had to count) Peacock feather, bring back a person with a balloon pinned to their shirt (balloons and pins were hidden, you had to pin it on someone), A staff member who sang a special song, and ask what the name of the song was. I found him for our team, asked the second most unlikely person, Tim the maintenance man, and it was him hehehe. Come to find out, he really does sing, sings in his church and for weddings and such, you never know. You had to ask Janice, in the office, for a stamp and say 'please' 10 times. Others were, something that starts with the letter Q (I got my quilt, someone else brought a quarter), a pillow, shoelace, red pepper flakes, the front page of the Birmingham News, I forget the rest, Oh a baby picture, 83 cents. I assigned each person items to go find, things they had in apartment, and then look for the hidden items. It was fun. We came in second, cause one of our ladies forgot to bring her assigned pillow first trip, and because we blew up our beach ball ALL the way, not just a bit of air in it. That was one assigned task. the other was when at the finish table, the entire group had to turn around 3 times. Jan, activities director, got a good laugh at me turning in my chair, just put the joy stick at 9 o'clock, and around and around in place I went hehehe.
OK, now you have the bare bones of a good game for any age, if you ever need one hehehe.
I got all involved, got up and walked around to the point of severe pain. Janice was giving me a clue where to find the balloons, and I could hear sound out of her mouth, but could not make words of it, all I could do was head to my chair and hope the pain would go away with sitting a while, cause it was hours till next med due. Sitting did help, yeah.
Came home for a long nap, but it was worth it. I am glad I did chores fore I left for the hunt, did not get much done this early evening.
OK< I read, but do not remember, and hands say time to stop typing for now. I shall return. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Glad you're OK so far, June.
Sounds like you had a blast, MizT.
So did I. The concert turned out to be a bit further from home than I thought. A 3 hour drive each way. But it was great fun with marvelous company and great music. We were right up front and got a close look at how much the ''Boys'' are aging, but their voices haven't lost anything. I had my friends in stitches with my ''mid-life crisis''. They want to see Gil's reaction on Tuesday. I did get a reminder of IH's purchase of the processing plant against my wishes and without my knowledge. My purchase will at least give me pleasure and be practical, albeit not used frequently..

It has rained all day. The phone company say that the phone will be fixed by 7 July ????. Also Ken's mobile will receive calls but he cannot call out. I think he may have to buy a new one. I lost mine several months ago.
Also I got my keys back on Wednesday and Ken lost his on Thursday. Unfortunately he lost the security one for the Getz (his car). It is on lock so he cannot drive it.
My Email is not working again. The internet has improved but does turn off every now and again. Just lots of niggly problems!
thinking of you all.
Great game Tricia. Mind and physical activity.

Hi All,
Have read and attempted posts that weren't accepted so hope this goes through okay.
Tricia, sounds like a great deal of fun and as June said, good physical and mental exercise. Glad you were able to get so close to winning...leadership shines girl!
Heidi, happy you enjoyed the night out ...but that's a lot of driving for one night..glad you were up to the job..and glad you now have more stuff in your arsenal to shut up any complaints Gil may have about your new toy.
June, and Suze and anybody else affected by the heavy rains..sending vibes that all stay safe and that the rains some come to an end for a bit...let the sun smile on you for awhile....okay, gotta run for now...will be back later...Peace.

Hi Lizzy G. You don't need to live in a soap opera to post here. We LOVE to hear from people who don't have a lot on their plates. It gives some of us something to aspire to.
I didn't do the driving last night, except for the 18 minutes to Donna's house. It was wonderful being able to sit in the back seat and let a good driver take over.
June... I don't know what to say..... except that I wish you a looooooong period of uneventful near-boredom. People crack faster under an onslaught of smaller problems than they do over one big one. You've had the full range, and don't need this. July 7th? Are there a couple thousand people ahead of you???? Don't they know how important reliable communication is? They should, you know. They're the phone company!

Tricia, scavenger hunts can be fun. Some of the parents of teens in my development sent their kids on a photo scavenger hunt. One of the photos was a dog in a costume. It was Halloween. I was sitting outside with Rachel and she was wearing a witch costume. I made one group of kids very happy.

Good morning!
June - it seems technology is really failing you and Ken at the moment. Hope it all sorts out soon. And the rain! I'm so sick of it as well. I can get most of the washing dry - but the towels!! They need the sun and the breeze - tumble-drying them is not the same. (Whine over)
Nice to see you here Lizzy G!! My life too seems so dull to me.
MizT - that scavenger hunt sounded good fun!!
Heidi - glad you enjoyed the concert.

OK BRONI, GET UP!!!MOVE!!!CLEAN!!!
Did that do the trick?
A very dull day here today, I did not do much. I did cook and then took supper to my friend Caudelle. She is going in for surgery Monday morning, but I cooked for her cause she fell night fore last. She could not get up, had to use her ':I have fallen and can't get up' button. Mighty glad she had it on! They got her up, checked her out, but did not have to take her in. she is all bruised and banged up, making it hard for her to get around.
I was going up to take her blood pressure again, anyway, so just packed up some of the casserole I had made, and a fruit salad, and a slice of German Chocolate Cake. I think that would make a good dinner.
I retrieved the gallon bottles I had left in the car, the ones I use to water plants. Plants are OK for one more day, I will water everything tomorrow.
We had thunderstorms come through yesterday. We got only the edge, but close enough to affect my fibro. I have ached big time, took a long nap mid day, climbing under the covers felt good. So right now, I have on my thick polar fleece jacket, it does help the achey spots being super warm.
My Hanes order, that I was expecting about Wednesday or Friday arrived today! I have 2 new shirts in bright summer colors, screen printed, one with dragon flies, one with flowers, and a new bathing suit. What I do not have is the check daughter said she was sending to pay for the suit, as my birthday gift. OH well, maybe it will get here later. Have not tried on the suit, not something you want to do when you are already hurting. I will try it fore Monday morning, when the bus goes back to Lakeshore.
CynB, Suzy, June, hope you get a break in the rain soon. I think you have had your share.
Heidi, a lot of driving for a concert, glad it was worth the time. Where was it located??
Tami, a photo scavenger contest sounds like fun, not having to talk people into giving or loaning you things you need, just a photo would be easier.
Lizzie G, do come and tell us about your day. Once you start typing it in, you will find you really did, do more than you thought. We would love to hear about your day, even if it was spent watching raindrops run down the window hehehe.
Mama, so sorry you had posts that got lost in cyber space. I am so glad that one went through. Always love hearing from you.
Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till tomorrow.

Morning all,
Mamacita, you were able to post!
Lizzy, I'd love to hear more about your quiet life.
MizT, if the treasure hunt was so much fun you even pushed yourself to the point of pain, it sounds like a winner to me. From your description I think I would have enjoyed myself.
June, Telstra? grrr... We actually got a little bit of sun today. Just a little, but enough to cheer us all up a little. I hope Ken's keys show up soon...
Cyn, I love tumble dried towels, they are so much softer! But we bought a small, emergency only type dryer so I don't get to dry my towels... Dana did a whole bunch of washing yesterday and dried it in our dryer. She had nothing left clean that fitted Tahli. She was over for Alie's birthday anyway.
Broni, get off your butt and wash your glass... there you go, something done. More than I've done today. The limit of my exertions was to drive over to Dana's to pay her back the money she lent Alie to go to the movies last night then drive her and Tahli to the fish and chip shop to pick up some dinner.

Suzy, we got a bit of sun as well. I actually got out in the garden and did some pruning. We have sorted one problem. Ken got a new mobile (his old one was over 6 years old) so at least we can phone out now. I have changed my Email from incredimail to messenger live which means I am getting my mail but my addresses are all on the old site. Not sure how to move them across so might have to type them in one by one.

HEIDI, at least getting up too early is one mistake that is easily remedied hehehe.
Lizzie, if you work nights and are asleep when the Aussies are awake, means you are awake when us topsiders are about, so we will talk to you! Nice thing about this site, usually someone about no matter the time. I even find someone to chat with when I am up middle of my night for an 'intermission'.
BTW, Lizzie, if you run across something here you can't quite make out, just ask, there are a few things that sort of happened here, and become part of our vocabulary. It is not secret code meant to keep out newbies, so just ask. Like what the hey is 'a Gail'? Not the person, as much as we love her, but going out for a Gail is going out to lunch, started when she and hubby were frequently going out for lunch.
Huuumm, tummy is rumbling, I forgot to make breakfast. I shall return later, hugs to each of you, with extras.

Sorry... I haven't been chatty today. I've either been outside doing various chores, or playing with Pandora (who I haven't fooled with enough), or napping. The rain has held off all day, and I hope it holds off through tomorrow. I need to mow the lawn tomorrow. I can't do it today. I loaned out my mower and it won't be returned until tomorrow morning.

Broni, there is no way I am going to motivate you to clean. I am a troublemaker. I will encourage you to put your feet up, grab a cup of coffee and read a good book or watch tv.
Lizzy G. I do hope you will post more often. We all feel we have boring lives. Talking about all the 'boring' stuff seems to make it much more interesting.

Viv, I hope you feel better soon. I have been very lucky. I haven't had the flu since the first time I got the flu shot. I've had a couple of colds, but they are much easier to get over.
hehe, I just confirmed with the neighbours where they think they should have to replace the fence to, and let them know that the wooden fence would stay the rest of the distance. I'm such a stirrer!
Did my duty today and made all of the medical appointments. Alie gets checked for dyslexia on Wednesday and gets the lump out of her eyelid on the 16th. I get my boobs done next Tuesday. That's only a year waiting. Maybe then hubby will get his feet checked.
Well I'm off shopping.... hugs to everyone!

It was a nice sunny day so got the towels and sheets dry. Also got some gardening done. Cleaned back some paths so that they can dry out.
Ken got new keys for his car. The phones have dried out, a bit crackly, but are working.

Canada day this week, USA Independence day this week, lots of celebrating going on. Our Residence association will host a FREE BBQ lunch on Thursday for residence who are not going out to BBQ with family. One must have BBQ on July 4th hehehe. OH, my sister reminded me, I should be able to see the fireworks that are set off around Vulcan, just up the mountain (really a hill but closest we have to a mountain) from us. Just find a spot with a clear view to Western sky and all set. I must ask if anyone here plans to go out to watch. I mean, it is at 8:30, 9 pm, wonder if anyone ever gets OUTSIDE at that time of night hehehe.
Time to be away to wait on bus, going to Lakeshore again today. First I must report to office that friend Caudelle's tub was stopped draining. I got it to work temporarily for her last 2 medicated showers she had to have fore reporting to surgery today. The lever would not push the stopper up, unless you gave a hard shove, and then it only drained if you held it up in open position. That is until I got a fork to hold it open hehehe. Caudelle is in surgery, will not need shower for a bit, but her daughter is staying here while C is in hospital, and daughter will need the shower.
I will read more and comment later today. Forecast to be a cooler day today, low 80's for temps, and that all week, a nice forecast for the pincics and outdoor cooking this weekend.
Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Ditto June's first sentence.
It sounds like things are getting a bit better there, June. It sure is a pain when so many things are going wrong.
I slept nice and late, and was only vaguely aware of the thunderstorm going on outside. Today is the last day in a while with nothing scheduled. Tomorrow is a BIG day. I have a 10:30 am appt. with the implant specialist, then I get my RV!!! I don't think you'll hear IH's reaction down in Oz, but MizT might hear it. She's only 4 hours away. Wednesday is my epidural. Thursday is a big 4th of July party at Donna's. I go every year. I will NOT be playing volleyball this time, though.

Good Afternoon All,
We are in the midst of lots of rain recently and can use the sun to stay around for lots longer than it has....yet even as I say that, I'm wishing the sun continues to shine more on you guys down under who have been hit with so much recently...Good to know that I was able to wish a little sun on you guys during my last post.
Viv, glad you are enjoying less washing and more hot water now, but we all can relate to waiting for that person to come home. It will get better, and you will have visits to look forward to. As has been said, take care of yourself for now.
June, Sorry about Ken's keys getting lost, but hope you two will have gotten rid of the losing bug for now.
Broni...did you get off your rump and clean??? Hope now...because you'd only have to do it all over again by now and hopefully you made a drink and put your feet up and enjoyed yourself!LOL
I had to go to the emergency room Saturday...I was getting ready to get in the shower and go see a great jazz show, when I discovered the gallbladder tube had come all the way out...I was due to have it changed today (Monday), but it couldn't wait. They sent me home since I wasn't having any physical problems and I had to go back yesterday to have it fixed..cute surgeon too this time...but I hope it will stay in until it's supposed to come out...so I'm a little sore right now...maybe even a lot, but happy that I was able to drive myself and not have to bother others. Not I have to get up early tomorrow and wait for the contractor come and replace my patio door that has decided to fall apart. So much for the happenings here...See Lizzy G... we all have boring lives sparked with stuff in the middle...so as others have said, come on and share your story...We all have one and some chapters are better than others, and we can laugh and cry together.
Okay folks...have a great day and Heidi, hoping you have another horrible day getting the epidural...this last one seemed to have lasted you fairly well...and we like that.
I'm outta here...Peace!
