The Pioneer Woman statue was modeled by sculptor Bryant Baker and was unveiled in a public ceremony on April 22, 1930, when forty thousand guests came to hear Will Rogers pay tribute to Oklahoma's pioneers. The statue is 27 feet and weighs 12,000 pounds

This is copy & paste message about the Sudoku Easy Jigsaw Problems:
They went wild after one of Gath's changes. If you go back in the beginning (15th May 2005) & check the photos in the archives you'll find that the only jigsaw is the torso in the black jumper with the white coffee cup, you'll find that photo as the jigsaw on every Easy Sudoku page up till the 12th of January this year. I did comment on this earlier this year, but I'm usually commenting when no one's around!!!
I'd say the photos we're getting are the ones from the Easy pages that don't have a home any more! And the off sized ones are possibly the very early reward photos for finishing the Sudoku!
So I think we just have to accept that the Easy Sudoku jigsaw is going to too big or very small, more frequently than being a good size!!

Hello Shiela - did I read on 'medium' that you are going on a trip soon?

Having been away myself I've lost touch with people's comments and I haven't checked them much lately as I've been busy catching up on things around the house.

Shiela, I see where you are going to Wales, I think I remember you have traveled there in the past. I hope to pass through Wales, when we leave Ireland I want to take the ferry from Dublin into Holyhead. Then the train up to Scotland. Since it will be March when we travel I know it will most likely be still be cold in all three countries. Any information you can pass along about Wales would be appreciated.
Enjoy your trip.

Hello Shiela!
In case you haven't had time to google, here's the info for you:
The Arrow Kilwinning Lodge is a Category I building on the historic register and was built in 1888. The free masons started meeting in Arrowtown in the late 1870s at a hotel. By the 1880s discussion was to begun about building a purpose built building for a Lodge. The Lodge was designed by George Brown and it was constructed by John McDonald and completed in 1888. The small single story Lodge building was constructed using locally quarried schist stone. The interior of the Lodge is decoratively painted in the lodge room which was restored in 2009. The buildings continues to serve the Free Masons of Arrowtown as its lodge.

Hi Shiela. You must get up pretty early these days. We seem to be about to match your snowpack record this year. Not a record we are looking to break (my back is complaining too from shoveling).

Hi Shiela!
Just put some info on the Hard sudoku page re the yellow flower. I'm repeating it here in case you don't get back to that page.
Looks like a native Australian plant - an Alyogyne, they come in purple or yellow colours. That one looks like a hybrid.
It isn't a hibiscus, Shiela, but it was a good guess - it's in the same family as the hibiscus - the Malvaceae family!

Hi Shiela, I ended up buying a new wireless mouse. I bought an inexpensive one ($14.99), so if I didn't like it, it wasn't a major expense. So far, it's working just fine. I think eventually I'd like something a little more streamlined, but it will do for now. There are plenty out there to choose from!

Shiela, I know I don't comment often, but I saw your text from today about a call-back on your mammogram, I just wanted to send best wishes that it turned out to be okay...I don't mean to pry, but we women need to stick together when it comes to things such as this.

Hi Sheila. Ring barking used to be a common practice and may still be done. It's main purpose is to kill off a tree and then when it's dead, cut it down for firewood. Rufus and Rusty were just naughty!

Thanks for your note, Shiela. I thought you might be on up by East Lansing. I'm in Strongsville, a southwest suburb of Cleveland. I live in what is called the secondary snowbelt for our area. We just got lucky this time that the wind is coming from almost due west so it's hitting the east side suburbs up at Lake Erie. But this weather is just too cold for November! I'm just glad we don't live near Buffalo this week!

Hello Shiela - I just read your reply to my comment on medium. There have been some horrific bushfires in our area this past week or two and one was declared a national disaster yesterday. Luckily no-one was injured and only two homes and a few farm sheds were burnt down, but there were thousands of hectares of farms and natural forests in national parks burnt to the ground. There were three small towns threatened and people had to evacuate for about a week or more, but thankfully the fire fighters managed to save the towns. It's been a very dry summer so far.

Hello Shiela - I was just reading your query on the tough puzzle about old homesteads. I think sometimes when the people couldn't make a living off the land, they may have abandoned them, but some built bigger and better homes nearby as the farm became profitable and let the old ones be used for perhaps, shearers or workers. This particular photo looks like it's still an up and running farm by the grain storage bin in the background.

Hello Shiela - the area I visited isn't far from Fiona or Grannie Mo. A couple of hours from Fiona (although I didn't get a chance to visit or meet her) and only about an hour and a half drive to Mo's village. Where I stay is close to a place called Cahors. A beautiful area.
