Busy couple of days and I also went on a spending spurge. We had a Fashion Parade at the Bowling Club and I bought 3 slacks and a warm sleeveless vest. Today I replaced my broken Kindle, Two tops and a some slacks to wear at home. Also a birthday present for my Brother-in-law. With some groceries , fruit and vegies it was getting close to four figures. Not often I do that.
Suzy, A bitter sweet week away. Hope all goes well for your girls. An ovarian cyst is definitely an emergency type operation. It could burst or turn cancerous. However I know at least two people her age who have had that problem and later have had children. They are now both in their 40's.
Heidi, hope you soon get rid of your aches and pains.
Bean, my heart goes out to you while dealing with your friends illness. Could her husband see a councillor to help him come to grips to what he is facing. His wife will need his support.

I was not looking at numbers.

'Make a conscious decision to see the beauty in everyone you meet, even if they are making life difficult for you.'

Hugs to you all. I am off to bed as I have to bowl tomorrow (first round of the club singles) to make up the game I missed last Tuesday.

JUNE, now you know three. I had an ovarian cyst and half an ovary removed in my early twenties, in the years between my daughters. Not a problem with conceiving and carrying a baby afterwards. Yes, it is an emergency, I am glad Aussie medicine looks at it as such. If one of those ruptures, oh my how painful, and can cause organs in the abdomen to adhere to each other, lots of problems. Yep, that happened too, before the one that was removed.

Cloudy, humid and warmer then yesterday, with t storms a possibility today, tonight, tomorrow. At the moment a large storm system over the state of Tennessee, the state just north of me. It is sneaking through between Heidi and me, this one will miss us both it seems. I wanted to go out to pool today for some float time, but we will watch weather.

Nothing new to report, so leaving hugs for each of you, with extras. Till later.

Off to the Vet Clinic. The puppies are really to young to eat on their own yet... another few days are needed, and I don't want to have to feed them myself for even a few days. I've gotten some milk replacer in each using a dropper but they don't like it. I no longer have bottles puppy sized, and I don't want to resort to a stomach tube. Mama feeding them is ideal. Wish us luck.

OK, we're back and sorted out. Sandy was being a wimp. Apparently, she was over sensitive to the puppies newly sprouted teeth on her tender udders. She hadn't developed mastitis yet, but it was only a matter of time if she didn't nurse the pups. The Vet started her on antibiotics in case, gave her some pain pills and told me to apply cold compresses to the engorged teats to desensitize them. It worked, and she's letting the puppies nurse again. The puppies are MUCH happier now. So am I.

Hi everyone...What a beautiful spring day we are having here in Pa., with promises of more to follow...perhaps spring has finally sprung...I do hope so because I'm tired of the cold....now I can complain of the rain and my allergies continuing to bother me though...so I still have conversation to drive folks nuts...lol.
Heidi, you are younger than Miz T and I...Tardis is must more prevalent in our generation...I only knew of it because of a fun game I play on the computer called, Garden of Times, where you get to solve picture puzzles and paradoxes as you travel throughout time periods. I know Broni plays and some others from Suduko, so some of you may want to check it out...I had heard of Dr, Who though I'm not sure how or why, but never saw any of the shows.
Suzy, hopefully Allie will not have to go through what Cyn's grandie did, nor will you have to suffer the same kind of financial pain that they faced....hoping all of those who have been under going pain and suffering are soon counted as healed and we can all breathe a sigh of relief...Glad Dana found out early about the cyst before major damage like that described by Tricia.
Julie...you need to stop trying to read and respond to the comments while so dog tired...you need some sleep lady...We look forward to having you come in and tell us how relaxed and well rested you are and we hope that happens soon.
Love and peace to all and do take care of each other and most importantly, your selves.♥

Oh, I forgot to say how glad I am that the vet was able to sort out poor mama dog...I can understand her wanting those furry babies to leave her alone and eat elsewhere so she could heal...but all is well for everyone now. wonderful!

Oh My what a day. I spent the mid day as driver and helper for a friend and fellow resident here who is legally blind. She offered to pay me, but it is not worth the hassle having to report income to HUD and let them raise my rent. If it gets to be long trips, we will just take her car. She offered today, but I knew I was not 100% today and driving a different auto would be one more stress to deal with.

We went all kinds of interesting places, she found lots of things she was shopping for, and we even stopped at Aldie's for fruit. I missed lunch but she bought us each an iced tea and a bag of sesame sticks to share, kept me from starving. I should have suggested lunch, but was getting tired by then and was thinking 'let's hurry, finish and go home'. I am totally exhausted now and hurting more than a little, but I did have a good time.

Pollen must be very high, my eyes are running like a faucet. Just found my eye allergy drops, that should help.

Among the places we went today was an estate sale at an upscale condo building. Some nice stuff there, but the prices were too rich for my blood on most of it, and there was not anything I needed or had room for here. Judy knew the lady conducting the sale, she does this for a living, hires herself out to come sell off an estate for the heirs. She knows the value of stuff, although high the prices were fair for what was offered. No one was going to come in and find an original antique the family was not aware of the value. This lady was mid 80's or 90, she hired younger, 50 and 60 year old ladies to help her run the sale. Judy did get a nice vacuum cleaner for $20, a painting for $25, and some colorful plastic bowls and glasses for 50 cents each. She said she can see the bright colors, and being plastic she would not break them when, because of her poor vision, she drops them from kitchen counter or cabinet.

We also went to a place called Pepper Place, old warehouse and factory buildings that now have lots of little boutique shops and eateries. Today was farmer's market in the parking lot. Lots of local farmers with strawberries, but I got a much better bargain at Aldis. One organic farmer was selling wild green onions, the things I had growing in my lawn down Montevallo. In the spring I mowed down mega dollars of them, If I had only known that I could harvest them and take them to town hehehe.

Ahhh, eyes are recovering, no more running like a faucet, meds are working so achies down to a dull roar, I think I will go and watch some TV before bedtime. Hope you enjoyed my little adventure today. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

A friend of mine, Anita, who trains and shoes horses, had an accident today. I don't know if the horse threw her or fell on top of her, but she ended up with a shattered ankle and dislocated hip. The surgery on the leg was complicated by all the metal from previous breaks. Anita is my kind of person. I hope to go to the hospital in Louisville in the next 2 days and visit her. I also will be letting her use my wheelchair like I did last time she broke that leg a few years ago.

Greetings to all!

June, great TOPP + 1! I think you deserve every bit of your splurge. Don't feel guilty or worried, just enjoy! I hope bowls went well!

MizT, how nice of you to help the lady who couldn't drive herself! And an opportunity to see some places you hadn't yet discovered, it seems! Your information about an ovarian cyst was educational for me. Now I know one person (well, 2 if I count Dana) who have had an ovarian cyst. I'm already considering hers to be in the past tense.

Heidi, I'm glad there was nothing seriously wrong with Sandy, and you became aware soon enough that nothing serious developed. I hope mom and pups are all happy now! I also hope you're feeling better! I'm sorry to hear about your friend Anita and hope she is a fast healer!

I see spring allergy season is arriving for Mama, MizT and others (myself included).

I had hoped to be finished with my videotaping of Cello Book 1 songs by now. Unfortunately, the week spent with grandees was a week without practicing, so I'm doing a lot of review and HOPE to finish videotaping this week. The problem is I also need to find a block of time convenient for hubby. In the last batch, we did 5 or 6 takes of most songs to get a decent take. (Yes, I am a perfectionist, but I'm sure my teacher would make me do over if she's not happy with it.) Two weeks ago at my lesson she indicated a song I should prepare for the final solo concert in mid-May. At my lesson on Wednesday, she changed her mind (after I had spent most of the week practicing the song she first indicated. Oh, well, it should be well established in my memory. She is also encouraging me to attend a week-long 'institute' where the schedule includes a daily lesson class (about 12-15 minutes per person, a small-group class to work on technique, a larger group class mostly reviewing past songs, and orchestra. We're considering it, since she doesn't teach her private students during the summer, only teaches at institutes.

It's nearly midnight, so I'm off to bed. Sending positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, and {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} for each of you!

June, it sounds like your spending spree was all things you need, you just happened to buy them all at once! Retail therapy is sometimes a good thing too..

Heidi, glad the puppies are back to mummy feeds - hand feeding would have been impossible for that many!!

MizT, would you have to declare income if she filled your tank with fuel? That doesn't sound like income to me. If it left you in so much pain perhaps it's not something you'd want to do too regularly anyway.

Mamacita, I'm not sure what would be worse, cold or allergies? Both can really get you down if they go on for long enough. Perhaps in this case a change is as good as a holiday?

Julie, that's kind of like what Alie has just done with her singing. If you can do it, I would recommend it. Alie really enjoyed both being immersed in music and being surrounded by people with similar interests to her.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. Sorry I have been missing recently. I have been coming here to read but I must have forgotten to post.

Good news about David, Tami.

I just heard from Maxine. She and the SOB are staying together because of the baby. His trial was postponed again, until May 23rd. Drat. I was hoping that he was behind bars already.

Sandy is back to being a super devoted mom. I think we caught her problem so early on that it just looked psychological. The pups are a lot happier, too.

Suzy, hope your girls get their problems straightened out soon. My SIL had two cysts (although one not on the ovaries) when she was in her early 20's and she has had no problems since. She is now in her 50's.

Bad news from the accountant today about our taxes. I have no idea where we can come up with that kind of money without taking out a loan, or cashing in a retirement savings plan, which means more penalties next year. I feel physically sick to my stomach over this. Hubby is with his dad for the weekend, so I'm the lucky one who gets to tell him tomorrow evening. We have to come up with a huge sum of money before midnight on Tuesday or we have to pay a penalty of over $1,500. KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD.

Oh Theresa, I do wish I could help you with your tax problem, have had enough of them over the years - but only when in business. Just as a wage earner, like my hubby is now - he's taxed on his weekly wage, then it's up to us at the end of the tax year to find expenses that we can claim - always a refund.
But the Tax office is up there with the dentist as the two most feared places to deal with for me.

June.. Margarets husband has a good network that will support him... this is all a bit of a shock as you can imagine. They have been together for a long time... over 50 years... He asks for help when he needs it.. he rings when ever he has to pop out so that someone can be with her. he knows i am available 24hrs a day. He recognises her physical needs and is managing her pain control. The last 12 months has drained a lot from him.. he probably needs a little denial at the moment to recoup his strength for later on. Margarets eldest is a GP and will keep a watch on i all.

Suzy... similar problems here with wisdom teeth. Mine came through where they were meant to.. but on the 4 points emerged. Consequently by the time the pain FORCED me to face my fear of dentists, [I have a phobia], the core was rotten.
Didn't let that happen with Lachie. Similar proposals as for Alie. During the wait and see period I was forever checking out the inside of his gob. We ended up giving it a lot longer than the specialist recommended because of a reprieve in the discomfort level. After 12 months the tooth was where it was meant to be. Good luck.

My son flies up from Melbourne tonight. Funeral tomorrow morning. It will be nice to have him home for a couple of nights.
I did not win the bowls yesterday. It was very hot (29*c in the shade and we were in the sun for nearly 3 hours). I have a bit of a cold and another infection so I did not like the heat. Also my opposition is really a better bowler than me. I did give her a run for her money though. Realistically I was pleased to be out of the competition.
Theresa, sorry about you tax problems. Here you have tax taken out of your earnings beforehand. My hubby worked for the same company for 40 years, paying into a superannuation scheme. That now pays us back an income each week. We also have shares in my name but the tax is taken out of the dividend before I receive it. Because my income is below the tax level I go a nice refund the other day. That was one of the reasons I was able to have such a nice spending spree!

June, we have tax taken from our pay cheques here too, but we have to fill out tax forms by the end of April each year. Quite often the government wants more, but sometimes I get a small refund. This last year the problem was the severance package hubby got when he retired. We followed all the tax tips from consultants, etc.

Didn't sleep well last night ... wonder why. I hate the thought of having to tell hubby because he has been quite stressed lately.

I have the girls before school today and tomorrow. Hope they are in good moods.

No change in the FIL situation. He has decided to restart the physio, but is refusing to move to the nursing home. His name has come up twice on the list, but now his name has been removed. It can be added on again later.

We have a good accountant, Heidi. I am hoping hubby can convince the revenue people to let us have some kind of payment schedule. It's just hard to realize that we are now back in debt, after working so hard to get all our debts paid off before we fully retire. We owed nothing to anyone before this. I also am not looking forward to telling hubby when he gets home tonight.

That just doesn't sound right, Theresa. But I know how you feel. A few years ago I bought that hay ground across the street, and ended up paying $18,000.00 to the IRS on the purchase. I don't understand why you owe the government money on money you've already spent on something else.

June, thinking of you this morning...

Heidi, we pay tax when we buy properties too. They still call it stamp duty, which is weird. (from the old days when you collected tax stamps - before my time so i'm no sure how it worked exactly) I'm not sure what the 'official' name is, but we didn't have to pay it because of a special deal for first home buyers. We have to pay it when we buy a car too.

Heidi, I love the way your pancake supper comment read. I'm imagining forger plates in your basement running off a couple of hundred dollars for the Lions.

Yesterday I spilled coffee on my keyboard, now the d and the f are stiff, I can still use them, but I have to slow down to make sure they work properly... bugger

Anecdote: When I quit smoking the first time, my sense of smell came back with a vengeance. I could smell a smoker at 10 paces and if my kids did the wrong thing I was onto it. It drove me mad. The second time I quit I never got my sense of smell back and it was better. This time I didn't get it, until yesterday. Yesterday I was being served at Coles and thought 'I didn't know you smoked'.. Last night I tried to go to bed and there was a horrible smell. Disgusting! I ended up sleeping on the lounge. Hubby at first thought it was him (he was very gassy) and even though I tried to tell him it wasn't, it wasn't until this morning that he smelt it too. He says our sewer trap had 'broken' and it was sewer gases I was smelling. By the way - if you don't run water in a bathroom for an extended period of time it could happen to you. Happens a lot in offices. Basically water in the s bend is all that stops the sewer gases from coming into your house. We had been running water though so it's kind of weird. Anyway, windows are open and only time will tell if the problem has been fixed or if we have something else going on.

I'm back. What I meant was that I'm the treasurer pro tem. So I had to take people's money at the door, as well as get their names for our door prize drawings, and do the drawings. We made a decent profit for our first time doing a pancake supper. It's enough to cover our college scholarship that we award each year.
