I liked your pictures, Becky! I think I even left a comment. That reminds me, several pages back, someone asked about getting a notice if a comment is made on our pages. I used to get a pop-up notification when I came to the site if there was a new comment. That doesn't happen any more. I just get the email notice, but I used to get both.

Night Stella and Ruby. Hope to catch you again.
Julie, it seems everyone has said that. I might send Gath an e-mail.

Good night, Stella and Ruby. I'm so glad we found each other tonight on these pages! I agree, though, that it's getting late. I'm afraid I must join the exodus. Good night to everyone! Good night, Mamacita, Stella, Ruby, Becky and Mary! Maybe we'll all get lucky again tomorrow and find someone on the pages at the same time we're here.

Since I'm the last one, I'll do the cleanup.
Cups washed, table wiped down, floor swept.
That last thing to do is turn out the light.

Ladies...what can I say. If you all had hearavision pooters, you would see and hear a standing ovation from me. I could not have said anything better myself. I have been reading the debate page and as soon as I saw the first post about opening up a new no-holds-barred chatroom I could feel my hackles going up. I was never actively involved in the site back then but have heard enough about the troubles to wonder why anyone, in their right mind, would want to open that can of worms again!

To repeat Mamacita's sentiment, I love you ladies and I love coming here. Even though it is an open forum, we have all felt safe enough to speak about quite personal things. I feel I am among friends. That is one of the reasons I didn't feel as comfortable when 'others' were coming in with fake names and nonsense.

Oh Gail, it is morning here i the UK but home made pie is making my mouth water. Doesn't matter if it is savory or sweet it sounds wonderful. I may tempt some of the kids to go and pick some blackberries so we can have a blackberry pie for pudding tonight

It was a homemade chunky steak pie served with potoato gems, peas and corn. Not too bad either even if I do say so myself!

What a busy couple of pages. I decided to cook some quinces I bought the other day and got so engrossed in reading all the posts that I burnt the quinces. I did rescure some from the top of the pot so we had them warm with some cream.
I have not been to the chat room and I enjoy the friendship generated by the majority of the sudoku family. I really see you all as 'family'

Potato gems are are an oven-bake little thingy! They are crisp on the outside as though fried, and soft in the middle but it is not a mashed potato filling. Thank you about the pie, the meat could have had longer in the first stage, but my girlfriend, Cyclone Cathy, popped in unexpectedly just as I was about to put the meat on! That's why it was so late.

Good morning all! I agree with you June, I see you all as ''family'' and I miss chatting with you when I'm away. More so than my own family. They don't want to hear about the every day mundane stuff or about some of the things the kids do in school.

Gday June. Never saw the attraction for quinces. There's a tree growing wild next to my mum's place and my uncle would go pick them. Heaven only knows why!

Gail, do you make the gems yourself or do they come packaged? We have all sorts of frozen potato this or that here, but I don't remember seeing anything like your described.

So true Stella. The real family just don't understand our need to talk fluff to our Sudoku family!!! Many times I have found myself telling a kid to wait because I'm talking with so and so here. Once I was on MSN when one of the girls had a supposed drama. She was most miffed that I didn't respond to her immediately, told her I had to let them know why I stopped talking!

Yes Stella, it is a type of fruit. They are yellow with a slightly furry skin I think. Nasty tasting things in my opinion but to each their own! They are stewed or made into jam (jelly) or into a paste. This is often served on a cheese platter with dry bikkies.

The potato gems are a frozen food item, cooked just like oven-fry chips. They are very yummy. I'll see if I can find them on Google.

Gail, same here. When we were at my brother's house, my sis mentioned that we used to watch tv shows we weren't supposed to when my parents went to play cards on Friday night. I thought it was a perfect time to tell them about how many old shows we thought of here. They made fun of me for watching too much tv!

Had a great day, thank you Stella. H had the day off so when I came home from dropping off the girls, we went oven shopping. WOOHOO No' I'm serious, I'm rapt. The one we have is the original that the first owners put in and it has seen better days! The hinges went on the door many moons ago so we have been shoving a spoon in the door to use it for half the time we have lived here.
After that, H and I had lunch in a hotel bistro on the way home. Noice.

I find Stella, being the youngest of six kids, the best thing to do when I am with my sibs, is to sit quietly in the corner drinking my water! I will never 'win' a family 'discussion' and I am a bit touchy when it comes to personal critisism so I just stay out of it.

Did you find a new oven? Last year our oven died so we had to get a new one. We got one that has two ovens. It has a small one on top for cookies, appetizers, toast, etc. The bottom oven you can cook bigger things like roasts and turkeys. We love this oven because we use mostly the small one so the kitchen doesn't get hot.

The Oxford Dictionary says a quince is a sour pear shaped yellow fruit used in making jam. They are very 'hard' but we like them stewed (some sugar added). If you cook up the peelings and stain them, add sugar and cook to set, they make a nice jelly.
In Aussie Jam has the original fruit in it and Jelly has the fruit strained out and is generally clear. I do know what we call Jam, the US often refer to as Jelly.
