You are quite right about SoA being a South Aus song. It was written by an English born school teacher, Caroline J. Carleton, who lived in Kapunda in the Barossa Valley. It was the result of a competition sponsored by the Gawler Institute in 1859 to celebrate its second anniversary.

Baseball was not good today June. Only 6 of the team showed (got subs from the other team) and no one on either team had their 'best' day. Ebob bowled 2 innings, the first went well, the second she was pulled out...

Thanks for that info Gail. Interesting for me also as many of my ancesters from Cornwall settled in Kapunda. I must admit I did not know the song when it was suggested as a possible anthem in 1974.

The baseball season is coming to an end Suzy. I think Ken's team only has a few games left. Sorry it did not go well today.

I might go to bed soon. A very busy week coming up. A cruise on Brisbane Waters (about an hour north of Sydney) with Probus tomorrow. I have to play Pennant Bowls on Tuesday (serious stuff!). I will get Laura on Tuesday after day care and have her till Wednesday night.
I am sure I will find time in the early hours to do the puzzles though.

I'm having trouble with very slow posting right now so I might make this my last post. June, only a few games left for Ebob too, but then she may be playing with the seniors. I have to check we haven't missed the date....

Before I leave I want to share a 'thought for the day' I just received via email...

"Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any cr@p, be ready to receive a ton of sh1t."

Just to prove me wrong that post was quicker.

Still ORANGE Gail. But with the off white trim it seems to be working out. We'll know for sure when the furniture goes back in. But we've already decided, if it looks awful, too bad! We're not doing that again any time soon!

Brenda, we have had to undercoat her walls because we let the kids draw on the walls when we moved in because they were all renter's beige (good term!) and we promised we would paint them. Well, this daughter took the invitation and ran with it! It will need to be done again but the ceiling looks good.
My shoulders are killing me though!

Hi Susan, does this mean that you have managed to get everything cleaned, disinfected and stuff moved back so that you can live in all your home?

Gail I wont let my daughters see that you are decorating your daughters bedroom as they will be on at me to do theirs. At present funds don't allow for decorating, I'll have to start saving again.

Good Day/Evening SA7
Well seem today was a painting day
Finally finished one side and got the boat turned around, but not before the boader who is my main helper, mixed up too much of the 2 pack paint and I ended up undercoating the other side of the boat with the rest (looked like a monkey swinging on one arm and painting with the other)

Broni be careful what you are doing, swinging from the side of a boat, especially one which is out of water.

You are right there Suzy, the last one still isn't finished. We still have to sort out the roof, that will be when the weather gets a bit warmer. After that we may HAVE to do some decorating.

Suzy, I'm trying to imagine how Broni could take photos whilst swinging from the side of a boat and painting?

Brenda, we need to replace the ceiling in the girls' bathroom. Next project? Or do we paint the girls rooms in the new colours they have chosen? Or do we paint our room with the left over orange? Or do we decide everything is fine the way it is and file it all in the too hard basket???

Good point Brenda - I hope someone watching took photos! Although a third arm sounds like it would have come in handy...

Keith has his photo taken with statues where ever he goes. We've got one in our town, but he's not coming here.

If you're wondering why I am here so late when I'm normally long gone by now, it's because this is the only room with both a TV and furniture at the moment. Though it has a little (lot) too much furniture...

Good Maen Sudokuland.

I am having morning coffee, the sun is shining, it is 33 F headed to 50 (1C to 10C) so not a bad day ahead.

Broni, glad you got some paint on your boat. Swinging by one arm to do it does not sound like fun. Hope it is soon finished. Good luck finding statues for Keith. I do think his collection of Keith and statues photos are so much more interesting than your normal holiday photos. My favorite was his topless photo hehehe.

The talk of all your patriotic Australian songs was most interesting. Choosing a national anthem must be difficult, glad ours was chozen and i did not have a voice in it, might have been dispaointed in it if I had a choice.

We are doing a clear out of the attic and are starting to get rid of things. We use freecycle, it is surprising what I don't want other people do. Just passed on two and a half rolls of wallpaper!
