One more ant story...
This took place many moons ago....
Two friends and I were exploring the mountains of Costa Rica on horseback. We were using wildlife trails and the occasional oxcart trail. Towards noon on the first day, we reached a cool mountain stream, so we dismounted to water the horses, and have a bite to eat. I never saw the nest. I sat down in the middle of a nest of fire ants! Within 1 second, my pants, particularly the portion that sat on the nest, were FULL of fire ants, and they all bit at once. There is a reason that they're called fire ants, and it has nothing to do with their red color. Swearing in agony, I HAD to strip off then and there, and plunge into the cold water. Once I got those little buggers out of my clothes, and got dressed, I still had another day and a half IN THE SADDLE, sitting on a very painful posterior.

I must agree, Brenda. I certainly wouldn't want to be riding a horse after that.

I am back! site let me on now, YEAH, that is good, better than this time yesterday here.

I had to stew some plums I got at store yesterday. Four Pounds for $1 because they were "should have eaten them yesterday" plums, but even a bit soft, they stew nicely. My hubby will not eat a fresh plum, but loves them when stewed, go figure. I put a bit of Splenda in them, and serve with whipped cream or over angle food cake. Or plain for breakfast, which I am having now.

I know a bit late for breakfast, it is 11 am here! I have been doing the 15 minute spurts of cooking and resting this morning. Might make an apple crisp later, I also got some apples yesterday from the mark down basket.

HEIDI, crossing fingers for good news at your doctor appointment, some little thing they find wrong that is easily fixed.

Zusy got the car back at 7:30 last night all is good. Was thinking of buying a car that was cheaper on petrol but a friend suggested I do the sums and it would take me approx 5 years to recoup the money from petrol savings I would spend on another car (10K) So looks like Jasper Jeep gets a reprieve.

Broni, In a few years the fuel efficient cars will be much better than they are now so it's good to wait anyway.

I'm glad you got Jasper back and hope he keeps on keeping on until your ready for a new one..

The lady mowing my lawn is finally at it. It took a few days for schedules to match up. I haven't seen her stop work yet. I checked at midnight and she was hard at it. That's dedication for you!

Some great ant stories! I feel for all the victims of ant bites. We have a green headed ant that gives me problems if I am bitten.

Broni, glad your car got a reprieve. A new car is nice but a big expense.D1 has a 4wd to pull the horse float but bought a small car to go to work. Saves about $40-$50 per week on fuel. (round trip is about 90k per day!)
Rena have a nice day.
MizT, I would enjoy some of those stewed plums. Also like plum jam.

OH YES JUNE, I would love to find enough plums at a good price to make plum jam again. I made a few jars this summer from the plums from neighbors trees, and we are really enjoying it, will not last the year. Remember part of them turned out to be plum syrup? Huumm, might be time for biscuits or pancakes and plum syrup again soon.

Shiela and Aimee, good to see you drop in for a visit. Come back when you can, for a visit short or long, you are always welcome.

Broni, glad you have wheels again, Vroom Vroom!

SUZY, what a gal you have mowing, hope she continues the good work. nice she can work in the dark, as well as the daylight!

June, is Laura's surgery a week away, next Wednesday? Oh would be less than a week for you, it is Thursday already there.

Rolanda, is all going well with you? Hope you have time to post a bit again and soon.

Hi All. I am back home.
We have a definite answer! I have a full blown case of Mononucleosis, which has brought on chronic fatigue syndrome. Of course, there is no treatment. It has to run it's course. My Doc said that it could end tomorrow, in 2 weeks or 2 months. There's no telling. She did say that multivitamins, B complex and Echinacea can help speed it up. So I bought the latter 2 on the way home. Already had multivitamins.

I can sit down in peace for a few minutes. Washy things on in the kitchen and laundry, Ken taken Laura to day care and Sharon home for a couple of days. Think I will make a curry for dinner tonight. Getting tired of bland food. (Sharon does not like anything with spice or pepper)
When the car comes back I will then go shopping, meeting friends for a coffee while I am out.

Heidi,LOTS of rest needed to get over Glandular fever. IH will have to help as much as possible.
Enjoy your quiet (?) time with hubby Suzy.
About 40 years since I went to the Melbourne show Gail and I think I locked my kays in the car. (Back then I could get into a car with a coat hanger or bit of wire so was no big drama)

Ruby must be doing the puzzles. I did lots of jigsaws of the photos this morning with Laura. She liked the dogs but refused to do the lorikeet because 'he was not a lorikeet because he did not have blue on his head!'
