I've had to come back to tell Tricia about the time I went trecking in the rainforest and found a leach on my ankle. I was so hysterical I started to do a war dance involving a striptease in downtown Dorrigo [I think].... One of the shopkeepers was so horrified [or embarrassed] at the spectacle I was making of myself that she ushered me into a changing cubicle in her shop and gave me a packet of salt.... Luckily there were none in my knickers...I was worried because I'd had to have a pee while I was walking...

At least I was young and bootiful then and only half the women I am now.... Surprisingly enough I don't think Pete had the camera out....

Hi there June and Mary...can't hang around around after the last little bit of nonsense. Hope to catch you later.

ROFL Bean! That even beats MizT's ants in her pants (still not letting the facts get in the way of a good story/rhyme).

Ebob went to a camp in Year 7 (12 yo) at an eco-friendly place. They weren't allowed to use salt or anything to get the leaches off! Surprisingly she pulled leaches off other hysterical girls but got none herself.

I have competition for the computer again tonight. Hubby picked up a modem today and we are going wireless!!! Still don't have ADSL here so wireless or dial up is it. I might be able to sneak in later using the laptop, but only if he isn't using it to call the installation help line. I will go through withdrawal!!! Sigh. If I don't get back, think of me and wish me strength!

Have to do a happy dance before I go....

The kids leave Friday morning, arrive back Wednesday night... This will be the first time we have been kid free for more than one night since we had Ebob - 15.5 years. (Imagine me dancing a jig!) I know I will miss them when they're gone, but for right I'm enjoying the idea!!

I have to go without waiting for your answer.... Here's hoping that all is resolved relatively easily. The car problems definitely fall into the category of something you don't need right now, and that has to be the understatement of the century! Sending car healing thoughts and wishes....

Hi All, haven't really been here for a few days. I did pop in and did a bit of catch up reading, but have now given up on that as you are all chattering faster than I can read
renos are going slowly. At present we have a room (supposedly the bathroom) without a floor and in need of plastering. New pipework has been done and new electics being put in right now. Yesterday we were without power from 10am to 5pm, I had to wrap our tropical fish tanks with quilts to keep them to temperature. Think floor will be fitted today. Bathroom suite is being delivered tomorrow.

Hi Gail didn't see you lurking there
Celia is still in hospital, she has good days and bad days. Monday I was very worried about her, but when I went in yesterday she was sitting in a chair and was quite cheerful. Still not managing to say what she means but I can normally work out what she is on about. Still waiting for her to be transferred to a specialist stroke ward at a different hospital.

MORNING SUDOLULAND coffee is on!

I am up early today, think I need some tylenol today, for the old achies. Weather is changing, it is a lovely 55 (11C) this morning. Will warm to mid 80's, but I love the cool start to the days!

Suzy, your childhood sit in the ants reminds me of my youngest. My sisters and an "almost sister" relative and all our children, 7 of them, were spending a week at one sister's Mother in law's summer house on the lake. Too big, nice to call a cabin. She did not visit often and keep the yard in good repair, so there were ant hills about. Daughter#2 was a toddler, and managed to fall into a huge fire ant mound. When she got bit, 4 Moms responded to the scream! You would have thought we had practiced, how coordinated this was. First there started stripping her clothes and brushing off ants. Second grabbed the garden hose, and the furtherest away ran back to turn it on. Had the ants washed away in quick fashion, with minimal stings.

SUZY, from my ants in the clothes in closet, I did get bit under the pants, it was just the first bite was under the shirt. I do think they sneak upon an unsuspecting body in numbers, then the Sargent says, ATTACK, and they all bite at once after the first bite.

Yes, I do think ants find us who are allergic. Hubby rarely gets bit by an ant here, and i often do.

OK, one more ant story. This was back soon after Al and I were married, when we lived in the suburbs and had a huge front lawn. I was the cutter of grass, but we had a walk behind mower then. Heck, lots younger and it was my major exercise. I was out cutting the grass, and I ran over an ant bed with the mower. Sent ants scurrying about. I forgot about it on the return trip, and ants hiding in the grass attacked me, they must have been a tad upset I had damaged their home! I had on tie shoes, socks, narrow legged long pants. The ants were stealth mode, crawling everywhere fore they heard ATTACK. Now this was in the FRONT yard, and full view of neighbors.

Hubby was in the driveway with a friend, loading a copy machine from his basement shop, to deliver to customer. I came running up the drive, stripping off shoes and socks, leaving them in a long trail. Unzipping pants, unbuttoning shirt, all while running at top speed. As soon as I got around corner of house out of sight, as I made the door, off comes shirt, then pants just inside the door, and as I leave shop for the downstairs den, hear hubby behind me asking WHAT? and reply ANTS, get me a towel. yep, a bath and shower downstairs, seldom used, was where I was headed. He opens door to Den and said saw a trail of undies, and told his friend, might want to stay in the shop!

NOW, the telling of this took far longer than the doing, as I said, I was younger, smaller and faster then hehehe.

when Al tells the story, he says I came out of clothes on the drive way. Nope, I am the one who went back to retrieve the clothes later, and the shirt and pants were just inside the door, I promise.

Well I don't think my connection is as fast as others, it takes 5 to 10 seconds for the pages to load, but that is 10 to 20 times faster than I'm used to so I'm happy!

Now I just have to go and try to watch a Youtube thingy and see what happens.... Oooooh and the jokes I didn't open because they were too big... I'm going to have sooo much fun!

Suzy don't drink too much in celebration cos that will slow your typing down and spoil the effect of the faster connection.

Our power had to be shut off for a little while just after I last posted. Now I have to, I really must get some work work done.... that other stuff which we all hate has gone to the dogs as there is so much dust from the renos that I couldn't keep up (even if I wanted to)

I'm having fun Brenda. I've tried watching a news video, a song on Youtube, and I'm currently downloading a 7MB joke that was sent to me months ago and I couldn't watch. Our connection is nowhere near as fast as many, but compared to what we are used to it is absolutely brilliant!!!
