Heidi, so excited about your puppies!
The mention of her maternal instinct brought back a childhood memory for me. Our dog, Tammy, who adored my brother and his friends was in the middle of having her litter of puppies, when she realised that my brother and his mates were leaving on their bikes. Off she flew, even jumped the fence to catch up to them. She was brought back, they stayed, and she had the rest of the puppies (5, if I remember correctly!)

I HOPE she's done. The count is 7 puppies!!! 2 females, 5 males. All are sable and white except the 1 tricolor male.
I didn't know she was pregnant until 2 days ago, when she suddenly bagged up. She showed no other sign of pregnancy, so I thought that she'd only have 1 or 2 puppies. I have NO idea where she hid 7 big puppies!

I need to go find my alarm clock .... it's somewhere in my truck.... and set it for early morning. I have to leave here by 8 am for the epidural. I'm not gonna get much sleep tonight, what with the puppies and the new mama.

I went to the hospital this morning but the accountant is coming here tonight to do our tax so Ken has gone by himself. I do not want to just sit there all day watching someone breathe. They say it could be several days before her body shuts down. MIL was not even opening her eyes today. She is not in any pain.
I am OK with everything but I will miss her. Sis/L has been very good the last couple of days.

Heidi - hope all goes well tomorrow!
Where is Vicki/Victoria, haven't seen her post in weeks?
Taking Andrew and his girls out for dinner tonight (just Fasta Pasta). They'll already be exhausted, spent the day at Movieworld with their Vacation Care people.

Nola, that sounds like a topsy turvy way to start work again... I hope your internet is fixed now! I like watching the beginning part of the Voice, the blind auditions. Not too keen on it once it gets to the competition part.

MizT, glad you got your icecream.

Good luck Cyn and have a yummy dinner. I hope you are able to work some Grandma magic. I know my kids listened to mum more than they did me.

June, I was hoping for no change today. Though her birthday will always be a reminder of the anniversary no matter when it happens now. I hope her passing is pain free.

Heidi, I'm not sure 7 puppies is a good thing. Will you be able to find homes for them? I hope so. Wishing you a horrible epidural!!

Hello! Sending lots and lots of cyber {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, , positive thoughts and healing vibes for everyone!

June, thinking of you and Ken and praying for an easy transition for your MIL.

Suzy, take care of yourself!

Heidi, good news from the oral surgeon! Hopefully good news for the sale of Gil's plant. Good news (?) about the puppies!

MizT, hurray for the ice cream at the birthday celebration. It seems you are getting our spring. We had a day or two, but back into the 30's and 40's for temperatures.

Theresa and Broni, I hope you are soon feeling better!

Tami, hope all is well in this first week back at school!

Nola, we're glad your internet allowed you to visit! What a busy time at work!

CynB, good luck talking sense into the grandies! I hope Col has a good week. Are they taking advantage of him and his good work ethic?

Time to head to bed here. Please, everyone, take care of yourselves!

You all know those hateful posts that go around facebook. I don't get as many as I used to because I have unfriended the worst offenders. I got one today and was going to say something about how offensive I thought it was, but instead hid it and made my status: If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all - just hide their hateful post and hope it doesn't come up again!

7 people have liked my status - one of them the woman who shared the hateful post I was talking about!

Heidi, isn't this the second surprise pregnancy your dogs have had recently. As you have mainly rescue dogs I would have thought the males would have been neutered. Here when a dog (male or female) is taken into a rescue centre they are neutered.

That's the trouble Suzy - most of them give NO thought to whether they offend someone or not. I get so frustrated with people thinking their biased/political/religious/unfounded opinion is always right and people will naturally agree.
I have taken to hiding their posts, or altering what I see (ie, no photos, stops a lot), blocking the ones I can't delete (so as not to offend someone I do care about), and/or finally unfriending them.

The father of the puppies is not a rescue. I have 5 adult non-rescues. In this case, the pregnancy was really a surprise. Mama had been in season in September, and wasn't due back in for a year. SURPRISE!! A silent heat 5 months later.

Would you like a rough or a smooth ? Male or female? The smooths have all the joys of the incomparable collie personality without the work of brushing the hair.

This was a good epidural. A humdinger. It was only the second time that I had to be wheeled out to my truck because I couldn't walk afterwards. I'm still a trifle shaky. So off to bed.

A special request to all my sudoku friends.
Its for my dear neighbour [my 2nd mother].. her treatment was killing her faster than the cancer.. enough was enough...she has now stopped treatment.
Could everyone join me in a healing circle to turn the tide..
I really DO believe in miracles.
One for Margaret please ...

The response from all the sudoku crowd is comforting.
I understand her decision only too well.. the treatments I have taken her in for have been pretty rough. She was pleased to tell me last night that I wouldn't have to be getting up and running Bean's taxi at all sorts of weird hours for her anymore. I didn't cry but it caused me great grief.. I love her so much but have been expecting this decision.

Told her that I am now on call for 24 hr back rubs, foot massages, chat sessions... when she needs it.. we may even be able to fit in some 'fun' activities pain permitting...

I hope Margaret is comfortable right now, Bean. I think the best I can hope for her is being relatively pain free. I just wish they would legalize marijuana for cancer patients. I've heard from many that it's the only thing that really works for the comfort levels.

I've got a pizza in the oven right now. IH surprised me by coming home for supper!!! He left for the plant this morning and told me he wouldn't be back until tomorrow night. When he walked in the door, he said that since I'd had an epidural today, and have a litter of newborn puppies, he thought he'd come home and help me out!!! Is he trying to prove how much better a person he is than Helene?

Sandy is now being a good mother. All 7 puppies are nursing well and are already looking like engorged ticks. She's being very careful not to step on or lay on any babies, too. I'm wondering how quickly these pups will housebreak themselves. Collies are fanatically clean dogs. Sandy herself started going out the dog door at 6 weeks old and NEVER had an accident inside!

Bean - healing, comforting thoughts going out to Margaret.
And while we're at it, maybe I should ask for a few comforting thoughts to be directed to my dear cousin, Jimmy - who is nearing the end.
Whilst continuing thoughts for June and Ken.
Heidi - I'm glad the epidural was a humdinger! Take care.

Evening friends, today's trip to the pool was great, I came home for a nice nap, and at the moment, feeling pretty darn good! I hope it lasts, but another storm front is coming our way, we will have rain and perhaps some severe weather, isolated tornadoes. Oh well, I have a good book, have lanterns and electric candles, do not have to pack and run to the dome hehehe, just do my regular stuff. It is so nice to not have to worry about the safety of my home during stormy weather.

I had lunch waiting on me when I got back from pool. I had ordered in lunch today. Baked talapia. I had not been cooking fish, so ordered lunch every day fish was offered this month. I really love seafood. Looking for a shrimp recipe now, I have some frozen I need to cook up somehow.

BEAN, I was certain I replied to request for Margaret on TOS, but did not see it. Know that thoughts, and healing vibes being sent her way. Safe trip for you, too, Bean. I hope the 9 to 9 days are not too taxing for you.

HEIDI, collies, in my book, are supposed to be rough coat and sable. I knew of no other options until you told us here, guess I lived a sheltered life. Did I tell you we had a collie when we were growing up? Dad said he bought her for us, but he actually bought her to breed and make money. That did not work out for him, but she was a great pet for us. She was one of a litter of TWELVE! The smaller, less desirable half of that litter were taken from the mother collie and given to an old hound dog who had produced a litter of Heins 57 variety pups. The hound accepted them, nursed and raised her six collies.

CynB, the same go out for your cousin Jimmy. Let us know how things are going with him.

HEIDI, I am amazed and delighted that Gil came home to help you with the puppies after your epidural. I hope it allows you the needed rest to make this one last.

Enough for tonight, time for evening meds and a bit of a read in the current book. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Tricia.... That was his story. He didn't actually DO anything to help me.

Collies are not necessarily rough coated and not necessarily sable. The smooth coated variety is the older of the 2 coat types, and collies come in 6 different colors. The most recent color to the gene pool is the sable, which first showed up in the mid-1800's. The rough first started as a tricolor and the smooth first started as a blue merle.

I need to let Sandy back in with her puppies, then go back to bed.

Sending lots of {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, positive thoughts, healing vibes and for everyone.

The few days to a week look very full. I will get here as I can. Please take care!

Thinking of you June, hugs to all of you..

Cyn, how was the dinner?

Heidi, something weird is going on.. I'd be waiting for the bad news!

One day to go and it will be a doozy. Cross country!!! I get to stand, or sit by the side of the road to make sure kiddies go in the right direction and not off into the bushes or something like that. Two periods - on for both - recess and then the kiddies walk about 3km to the starting point. I'm driving down, don't care what they say, I'm not walking 3km at any pace but my own - not yet anyway. The younger kids run (hehe, walk, dawdle, sit most likely) 3km, the older 6km.

Some days I get a break during the day, some I don't. Today I was on 5 periods, off last. Yesterday I was on 4 periods (lucky he didn't sneak an extra one in on me). The day before I was on 6 periods...

MIL is just sleeping peacefully. They have taken everything away and just giving her some mild morphine to relax her. No response at all now. Just waiting for her to stop breathing. I have said all my goodbyes.
I will be picking Laura up tomorrow as school holidays start. Probably take her to Belinda's on Sunday so she can play with the puppies.

I have been sorting and scanning etc photos of MIL's life over the last week. Now Sis/L said she and her daughter are going to do it. I tried to tell her what photos I have on file but got told I have all those photos. (Of course she has! because she has ALL her mother's photos. I only have copies I have made)I did think it would save her making copies. Also in recent years I was the one who took all the photos but gave her mother prints.
Healing thoughts for Margaret and peaceful thoughts for Jimmy.
One last day for you Suzy. I was thinking of having a few days down your way with Laura these holidays but we only have her the first week. With the distinct possibility of a funeral then I think it will have to wait till July.

Read and think about commenting but something goes missing in the middle. Might have something to do with apparently I am now allergic to penicillin and have been off in gaga land for the last two weeks. Took talking to my brother to figure it out, so cut the tabs a tad short hehe! Getting back to normal just in time.
Off for my girlfriend's birthday this weekend so will catch you Sunday or Monday, so looking at catching up in a looong time.

Well I made it to Sydney... so much for arriving early and wandering around the beautiful streets of Kirribilli.. I'm at Glenferrie Lodge June. Will wander off to Luna Park in the morning.. conference is at the Crystal Ballroom so this is really convenient. Originally I was going to spend more time up here in Sydney and catch up with a few people but there is too much happening at home at the moment.. not forgetting the financial aspect. At least this is a cheap weekend.. travelling costs, lodging & food ... less than I would ordinarily spend on holiday.
