A NURSES REPLY
What do we see, you ask, what do we see?
Yes, we are thinking when looking at thee!
We may seem to be hard when we hurry and fuss,
But there is many of you, and too few of us.
We would like far more time to sit by you and talk
To bath you and feed you and help you to walk,
To hear of your lives, and the things you have done
Your childhood,your husband,daughter and son.
But time is against us,theres too much to do
Patients too many and nurses too few.
We grieve when we see you, no friends of your own
We feel all your pain, and know of your fear
That nobody cares now your end is so near.
But nurses are people with feelings as well,
And when we're together you'll often hear tell
Of dearest old Gran in the very end bed,
And the lovely old Dad,and the things that he said
We speak of compassion and love, and feel sad
When we think of your lives and the joy that you had
When the time has arrived for you to depart
You leave us behind with an ache in our heart.
When you sleep the long sleep,no more worry or care,
There are other old people, and we must be there.
So please understand when we hurry and fuss
There are many of you and too few of us.

Suzy, yes I still teach the 'misfits' and I wouldn't have it any other way. Most of the kids are actually good kids, just had a bad start. I would love to meet you also. I keep dreaming of the day when I can afford a trip down under. I would love to meet my cousins. As they live in Sydney, I know I would get to meet you too (and many other sudoku friends)

Hi Mum, I am home!
Had a wongerful weekend and am now totally exhausted. My beautiful friend called me her 'kitchen b!1ch' (leave me alone Hall Monitor) in her speech and I am proud that I could make her day special.
Almost lost this post but 'click to go back' save me!
Love and Hugs.

Hello again! :)
Just a quick visit to say that Rob took me out for a drive, and though I was 'quite' scared it went with no problems. It felt pretty normal and natural, and Rob said he felt 'safe' in my care ... ! ;)
Got to go now ... Dr. Who! :D

Judy, wonderful news for you. 'Life is good' again.
Heidi, although it was a good epidural, please take care and do not overdo things.
MIL is still sleeping. No food , water etc since Wednesday. Thursday she looked peaceful but now she is sleeping with her mouth open. It reminds me of when my Mother died.
We had Laura over the weekend but we took her up to Belinda's place this afternoon. She will have a great time with the puppies who are now starting to run around.

That reminds me of my grandmother when she died, too, June. Mouth open like that. I remember being grateful that she wasn't in pain.

Rain rain, and more forecast for this week. A good day for a nap and I have had one

Heidi, glad to hear you are taking it slow and careful with the back since the epidural.

June, I know it is difficult, just waiting for MIL to go. Hugs to you and the family.

JUDY, congratulations on your auto outing. Way to go girl.

Broni, glad you are home, and ready to go back to work to rest

TAMI, I also hope you can save the $$$ for a trip down under. I wished that for myself until I faced up to fact I do not travel well. So I will help you wish it for you.

I do think it is time to close windows, this damp is getting to my bones. Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

Helene just called with the same stuff... complaining how much she's suffering, complaining about what a lousy kid Maxine is, and demanding that I get back there SOON to take care of her. She truly believes that her problems and life are more important than anyone else's. It's hard to be sympathetic.

Hello All
Hope things are bearable if not really good for most of you. I really want the best for all of us, but know that's not gonna be right now...but hopefully soon. Judy, I'm so proud of the way you go healing and getting your life back. You and Suzy have shown how good people work hard and sometimes rewarded with good things restarting.. Wonderful! June, Wishing a peaceful end will soon be in sight...Life can be so hard watching our loved ones making their transition, but know that joy will soon come for all concerned...just in different ways. Hang in there. Heidi, good to know that you are being careful...just shows us how much pain you have been end to hear of you really doing little as possible. Feel better and stronger quickly.
Broni, glad things are traveling on a smoother plane...keep it going.
I've had a wonderful day and went to church then visited with my sister, first time since I was in the accident that I have felt up to driving to her house, an hour and a half from me....but today was good. Now I have several projects to do for my niece's memorial and will need to make another trip there soon..hope it goes as well. The memorial is on May 4th so I'll be busy this week...glad the weather is getting nice.Makes doing the running around much easier. A trip to New York is scheduled for May 7th and family birthdays will start in earnest soon. I had to laugh at Gail's big birthday number...and a happy birthday wish first being sent out, but today marks the 57th year since I was married, so feeling Gail is still wet behind the ears so to speak...but I mean that in a good way...okay...off to pay computer games for awhile...bbl...take care, I care.♥

Good afternoon folks
I'm home after and extremely exhausting but exciting weekend. The fact That I have coped with 12-13 hour days schedule on the program is extraordinary. I do admit to piking and not going out with the group on Sat night.. walked back to my room to do my homework instead.

June I hadn't told anyone I was going to Sydney because I knew there was going to be no time for socialising. Next time I am definitely going to add a couple of days on to my trip just so I can do that. It was the same when I was there in Feb.. arrived the night before and left immediately afterwards.

Well done Judy. Keep it up.
Glad you are respecting you 'back' and what it needs Heidi. Helene has a purpose in your life... not exactly sure what it is right now.. most likely Maxine.. boy..are you paying a price for that. You are an extraordinary friend to her.. pity she doesn't appreciate it.. but we all do.

June.. this is a difficult time for all that love your mother in law. I hope you can find some comfort by the unity of grief. I also hope that the many different ways that we all express grief doesn't create too much distress amongst the family. It can be hard when others are on a different page. Love and hugs to all.

Gail, I do hope you are enjoying your 50 birthday!
Went to the hospital at lunch time but opted out going tonight. I had not been having any trouble coping with the situation. The last couple of days I am starting to remember others I have been with at this time in their life and it is starting to upset me.
We took Laura to Belinda's yesterday so we do not have that responsibility . (It is school holidays).
Tomorrow we have a big day at bowls so I am making potato salad for 50 people for lunch. Depending how things are, Ken and I will both be playing.

My thoughts are with the people in Boston. 2,000 Canadians were to participate in the marathon. I imagine there are people from all over the world. Let's hope the fatalities don't go any higher!

Tricia, glad your grandson is safe. Stella posted on FB that her daughter didn't go along as usual because she had too much study to do.

Too many sick people in the world. I heard of 2 deaths and more than 50 injured.

Tricia, glad your grandson was not too close. Also glad that Stella's daughter did not go.

My niece used to go to college just outside Boston but transferred to a school down here as she got tired of the snow.

Evening all,
Just a quick drop in. Did you read on TOS that Stella's D's friends were there and one of them got minor injuries protecting the other. Her D would have been there but had a class...

June, very sensible to stay home if your head is going there...big hugs!!

Judy, did you drive anywhere today. I don't know about you, but even if I had nowhere I wanted to be, not being able to drive made me feel kind of trapped. I hope you are feeling your freedom!

Nola, hope work has settled down and you are no longer in a place where you are burning the candle at both ends...

Tami, from what I know of you in here, I suspect you are the perfect person to reach the misfits...

I spent today wandering around Wollongong and reading with my ereader while Alie was at her music thingy... Hubby's turn tomorrow...

Morning all. I slept for 10-11 hours last night ... I feel ready to tackle the day. It's amazing what a good night's sleep can do. I haven't felt this good in a loooooong time. Now if only the rest of the world were in such good condition. Sigh.
