Oh, now there's a meet up I'd love to go to. Well, actually I'd like to go to all of them, but...

Heidi, as an old folk who's had a stroke or two, thank you for giving her another chance... but not too many. Life with no brain isn't life - not for me anyway.

Theresa, I'm glad you vented and felt better afterwards. When I was angry with hubby I wrote him emails. I was too angry to speak to him and the emails I managed to make civil, though I made my point.

OH Heidi, poor LUCY. Her biting you just shows something bad is going on with her. Either it hurts her to be touched, she is terribly afraid, or as you said, her mind has been affected. Did you ever get her inside out of the rain, the pond out of her reach?

Mama, I have been looking online for accessories, found a couple I like, and found one that gave me an idea how to adapt something I have. I now have a backpack or 'truck' behind the back of my chair. It was a piece of soft sided luggage, short and squat, and just as wide as the chair. Was able to use the detachable strap to secure it to the chair, it is very sturdy. today it held one of my gallon jugs of water to water plants. Coming back, it heald 2 empty jugs, my purse I had left in the car and retrieved, same for a denim jacket and some dailies I was bring in , cut flowers.

I must tell you about the daisies. I noticed when I came in last night, the daisies that have been spectacular this spring were on the ground. this little patch of sunshine is in a small area between the alley and the parking lot, beside the last parking space there. It is protected by a concrete 'curb' around it. I parked in that last space, so took a look when I got out of the car. Something had jumped the curb and run over the clump of daisies, the concrete is damaged in 2 places even. It looked as if almost all the plants were crushed and ripped from their roots. I did not know if anything left could be saved, but it is a perenial, it has a good root, it will come back.

Today I happened across the garden police lady, and talked to her , found out it was the garbage truck that destroyed the daisies. I told her my idea what the plant needed, cut out all the crushed part and then fertilize and water it good to help it come back. 'Well, I don't have any fertilizer.' But I do, would you like me to take care of this? Got an OK, gee, like pulling teeth, aggh. So I cut and carried off everything that was crushed and wilted, but found some that were just bent to the ground. Need some stakes and some string to hold them up. Of course I do not have stakes or string in this tiny apartment. I take my chair for a ride to our dumpster as I toll the dead stalks, nothing around the trash area that would do. So chair and I go adventuring down the alleyway, other dumpsters about. I found the rod of an old curtain rod, and a piece of concrete to use as a hammer. took a plastic grocery bag and cut into strips, stakes and string heheh. the clump is about 1/3 the size it was, and I am very tired, but it is again standing with help. Tomorrow I can take down some liquid fertilizer and give it a good drink. My pay for all this, I got 5 daisies that were in bloom on crushed stems, to put in a vase to enjoy. The end.

Lucy is now in a coma. I don't think she'll make it through the night. At least she's not suffering.Lucy is huge for a collie... especially a female. I normal collie female is supposed to range between 50 and 65 lbs. Lucy is 85 lbs! I can't lift her easily. Adrenalin helped to get her out of the pond.
The other collies love to play on the edge of the water, and Sugar likes to swim in it regularly. Even the puppies have taken to splashing in the shallow areas, and a few have jumped right in and swum out.

Gekko my friends.
Wow what a long weekend it has been for me.
Friday, loaded up the Patrol(Urban Assault Vehicle as my girlfriend likes to call it.)to go to the Lowood Show and sell her jewellery.
Sat, up early for over an hour drive out there, then two hours setting up the gazebo and product to be ready by 9am eek! By midday had sales of $16, fortunately things did pick up in the arvo and made enough to cover insurance and stall fees left little to cover anything else but at least she has a few dollars to survive. Arrived home around 7pm and was totally shattered.
Sun, back to gf's to unload the car, back home and still shattered.
SHE WANTS TO DO THIS AGAIN IN A FORTNIGHT!!!!!!

Dang, pressed the wrong button Heidi.
Summary following:
Peruvian silver, precious stones, no slave labour but not hand made but she is looking at some jackets to make from shawls that are incredible and so easy. Will post pics when she gets off her butt.

Mum did the market thing for years and I did them with her for a few. Didn't take us 2 hours to set up, though her stuff was heavy and awkward shapes. Set up the tent, unfold the tables, cover them, arrange the stuff artfully around. Most start times were more like 7am than 9am though. You have to keep going because people get to know you and come back looking for your stuff and if you aren't there.... Towards the end she had many days where she covered stall costs and petrol only. But every now and then she had an amazing day! One Christmas she sold over $2000 worth of stuff.

Poor Lucy...

Broni, I wouldn't be taking on doing this for her on a regular basis if I were you. It's a hard slog and you do a lot of that already.

I have a couple of prospective puppy buyers coming over this afternoon. I hope the rain holds off. I prefer locking the adults in the house and letting people interact with the puppies outside. They can commit to a puppy now, but they can't take them home until the 15th of June. They need to have their second series of shots first.

Lucy is still hanging on to life. She'll never be able to stand again, I believe, and has given up. Her body is just working on it's own, partially. I'm gonna have to have her put down, but it's Sunday. Since she doesn't seem to be suffering excessively, I don't know if I can do it myself. I rolled her onto the calf sled (for moving newborns if needed, without wrestling with them) and towed her out of sight of the puppy buyers.

You are all so thoughtful sending birthday greetings. Such a delight to read.
MizT...your ingenuity is the garden is very clever.
Theresa..good on you standing your ground and having a win with cleaning grandies teeth.
Broni..so, are you going to the markets again?
Heidi..your poor back, getting Lucy out of the pond.It must be hard waiting for the end with her.
Suzy...I usually give up waiting for things to be done also. Someone will visit and we know who they think is responsible and it isn't hubby!
Mama...hope Puss is now OK.
My Birthday was good. Worked an early and was sang to by residents and staff. Someone told, and it wasn't me. Called in to Renae's and I had stipulated 'No Gifts' but received glitter covered rocks, cards and a cake from the girls. Paul gave me his hard drive with windows 7. Then went to brothers to say goodbye to other brother from Gosford who came up to scatter Jude,s ashes.
By then too tired to get online.
Lost another post, so this is a shorter version. Thought it was windows 8 but don't know what the prob is. Prob internet.

I woke this morning to the freezer making an awful noise. I switched it off, left it until just now, and the noise has gone. Maybe it has died but I will wait for Greg to get up and check it.

More rain on the way for us, but this is nothing compared to the tornadoes and cold weather in other parts of the world. So sad, when people lose their lives and all possessions. The news is not a pleasant tv attraction.
I hope you all have an enjoyable day.

I'm keeping Ruby, so she hasn't been offered to anyone. The buyers only see the puppies they can chose from. There are still 2 boys to place, Bear and Spike. It wouldn't bother me to keep them, though. Both have marvelous personalities.

If installing the AC is what it takes go get more tolerable daytime temps up there, then I am all for it! Enjoy your more normal temps for a while, Theresa.

RIP LUCY, you had a good life with Heidi and dignity in your final days.

If today was the first day of the ad, Heidi, and you found homes for the majority of the pups already, I feel certain you will find good homes for the last two.

Nola happy to hear the freezer is working fine now. May it continue so for many more years. Hope the rain falls where it is beneficial in your area.

Nola, not clever, just determination with the flowers. I can see them from my window, and they are standing tall. Judy, one of the residents, saw me out there from her window, and later spoke to me when she took her pup out for nature call. Told me how sad she and 2 of her friends were about them being destroyed. They sit on one of the lady's balcony for morning coffee together and notice them, enjoy them, daily. She told the others, OH GOOD, Tricia is out there, she will fix them hehehe.

Judy is the one who found a branch of a coleus plant that had snapped off. Liking plants, but not knowing what to do, she stuck it back into the dirt and told me about it later. Without her knowing, I put in some water retaining granules right at the buried stem, and kept it wet. Picked off the huge leaves as they wilted, but you know, it has taken root! The smaller leaves are growing. I got her to go look at it yesterday, see what she had done. She said she could not grow anything, and was proud as punch that it was alive and well :).

Have a problem with one of our residents. M is Obsessive compulsive, and a hoarder. She gets an idea into her head, no getting it out. she has decided if the pots are dry on top, they need water, and others are telling me she is watering the containers downstairs who knows how much or how often. Well, those plants water from the bottom, it is not necessary to have damp tops, but I cannot make M understand this. Since the containers are self watering, they will drain to the holding tank, and not really do damage, except for one. One of the staff brought a pot and planted in it, that has no drainage. That is really a pot cover, made to house a utilitarian pot with drainage holes, so pot will not leak onto furniture. I do hope M does not over water that one. I told the staff member it would be difficult keeping water just right with no drainage. She said she would bring drill and put a hole in it, I hope she does. It is a house plant, and I put it on a table out of the sun, which it prefers. M has been moving it to the wall and the sun. The lady really has problems, but do wish she would leave the plants alone! I wonder if little notes stuck in the pot would work. 'I do not like the sun, and am not a thirsty plant. I am very happy on the table with only a sip of water every couple of days'

OK, probably have run over, so let me post and check for over run. Hugs to each of you

Oh well. IH told me he wouldn't be home until mid-day on Monday. Guess who walked in the door at 10 pm tonight and asked what I had for dinner for him. I hate it when he shorts me on vacation time.

I need to lock up the puppies then go to bed. They're having a blast chewing up my legs right now.

Hi All, sorry I seem to have been MIA lately. I have been trying to keep up with what has been happening but have not had time to respond.
Tricia, sorry about Joy's Mum. Please give Joy a belated HUG. Also pleased you now have motorised wheels and also love hearing about your flowers.
Heidi, good news about the Pups. Sorry about Lucy.
Tami, I do hope your Dad is doing better. A hard time seeing loved ones going in and out of hospital. Also give Bobbi a HUG.
I am thinking of you all. Please just accept my big hugs and know you are in my thoughts.

We had Laura over the weekend. Also my eldest Grandy turned 11 last Saturday. he lives in Melbourne but we did phone him for his birthday.
Today we took MIL's ashes to Wollongong (1 1/2 hours drive)They will be put in place when the plaque is made in about 4-6 weeks. Better than sitting on the dressing table in my spare room!
She would have been 99 tomorrow.
Tomorrow we have a big day at the bowling club. Presidents Day!. Our President has been in office for three years and must retire. We can put on a party(?) all dictated by antiquated official procedure. Worse than organising a wedding! I have made a large round fruit cake and iced it. I will post a photo after tomorrow. Just over a week ago I had 1 1/2 kg (3 lb)of pure icing sugar floating around my kitchen as I made the fondant! I also folded the serviettes for 70 people. One lot for morning tea and another for lunch.
I have to get up early in the morning as I am also making three batches of scones and cooking
four chicken breasts for some quests who have celiac (no wheat products). I have rubbed the butter into the flour and whipped the cream.
I am also official photographer. I have to propose one of the toasts, and cut the cake I made for the seventy guests to have a piece each.
Wednesday it is 'have them squashed' day and Thursday a hearing test. I might just sleep all day Friday!

Only one call for puppies so far today, and I don't think the guy is interested. I'm not encouraging him, either. He didn't sound at all knowledgeable about collies, or even dogs. Granted, he might end up being a dream home, but I'm afraid that he might be the type who chains a dog outside. Collies are too sensitive for that abuse.

I may only have 6 puppies left on the premises, but I forgot this morning and wore the wrong pants outside. They pantsed me again. This time, IH was watching from outside the yard, and laughed his head off. He called to me that there was no way he was stepping in the yard while they were loose. I'm back to wearing shorts. Fortunately, since they're still toddlers, they tire out fairly quickly.

June, I was just thinking about you and wondering just how long it had been since you had posted. Brenda had told me on TOS that you had Laura for the weekend, so at that long was explained away.

It took me a minute to figure what the hey you were talking about, get them squashed day. It WAS right in the middle of discussing the bowling celebration, so I was looking for something along that line. I had a giggle once I realized my mistake.

Hi all.
June, your life is so busy but probably enjoyable except for the Drs appointments.
Paul (son) has been sick for a month with a chest infection, spent a few days in hospital and finally went back to work yesterday. I was apprehensive about opening his email, expecting him to say that he had to come home. But, he managed to get thru the day. Still not well but the physical exercise might help to break up the mucus.
Today, I hope to get out in the garden and do some weeding. I have 2 bails of sugar cane mulch to spread when done. The poor roses need some TLC.
I should do some spring cleaning too, since we are having visitors from South Australia, arriving on Sunday.
If the rain holds off,I can get the garden underway,if not,I have plenty that I can work on inside.
It is almost light enough now to garden, so I will catch up again soon.
